Because "RACISM" is Big, Big News

Big Three Networks Give 2X More Coverage To Confederate Flag Than Westerners Joining ISIS

Despite briefly mentioning at least six reported instances of American citizens joining ISIS in June, and multiple FBI warnings about ISIS’s influence in the United States, the networks chose to devote more time to the “threat” posed by the existence of the Confederate flag. The evening news shows of ABC, CBS and NBC spent just 17 minutes, 35 seconds on the threat ISIS poses to American, and 37 minutes and 18 seconds on the controversy over the flag.

This disparity in news coverage occurred during a ramped up social media campaign by ISIS to recruit Americans and other westerners to commit acts of terrorism. When you factor in how many days of coverage each topic had (the Confederate flag debate didn’t begin until June 19, while ISIS has been recruiting westerners for the entire month), the flag debate got 5 times more coverage (186 seconds per day vs 35 seconds per day).

On Sunday’s State of the Union, host Jake Tapper was talking to his panel about the enthusiasm gap between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton among liberals. Tapper asked Van Jones: “ Van, when she was a senator, correct me if I'm wrong, she was a fairly moderate Democrat. I mean she wasn't this progressive firebrand?” Jones agreed: “And neither was the Democratic Party, a party of firebrands.”

Obama Administration Turns Screws on Redskins Over Name

Remember that time the Obama administration took a courageous stand against the face of evil and racism in our time? Me neither. No, instead the Obama Administration has contented itself with throwing down the gauntlet in the face of an NFL team.

If the Redskins want to move back to the District of Colombia, they need to cave and change their allegedly racist name. According to The Hill:

The Obama administration will likely block Washington, D.C., authorities from building a new stadium for the NFL's Washington Redskins because of objections to the team’s name.

The National Park Service (NPS) owns the land under the 54-year-old Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, a venue two miles east of the Capitol that hosted the Redskins from 1961 to 1996. Some city leaders want to demolish the current stadium and build a new one to lure the football team back from suburban Maryland.

Jamie Dupree sent this fascinating tweet on Saturday, a picture of MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews marching in a suburban DC parade next to a Hillary Clinton for President banner.

Those MSNBC folks have a natural talent for appearing to be all wrapped up in partisan Democratic politics. Could this just be Chris talking to a suburban friend? Even if so, he doesn't seem troubled by the possibility of a photo like this.

Katie Couric To Ted Cruz: Do You Have 'Any Empathy' For Immigrants?

Katie Couric conducted a condescending interview on Yahoo with Ted Cruz, asking the Republican if he has "any empathy" for immigrants as he opposes Barack Obama. The presidential candidate also zinged the liberal journalist, reminding her that it was Hillary Clinton who first started the birther campaign.

After insisting to Cruz, "you've worked to block every legislative action to allow undocumented immigrants to remain legally," Couric lectured, "So, given the fact that your father immigrated here from Cuba, do you have any empathy for people who come here looking for a better way of life?"

Press Ignores Sheldon Whitehouse's Call For DOJ To Sue 'Vast' Global Warming 'Denial Apparatus'

While the press looks to twist even the most innocuous statements made by Republicans and conservatives into something scandalous or outrageous (e.g., Mitt Romney's "binders full of women"), they routinely ignore intemperate remarks by leftist politicians and activists. If known, they would likely damage the credibility and public perception of those making such statements.

Of course, the left-dominated media can't abide by that. So they censor it. One recent example involves Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. Despite the unexplained and unexpected 18-year pause in global warming, the senator is convinced that the world as we know it will end without draconian measures to reduce carbon pollution and keep the earth from turning into a ball of fire. One of the strategies on his wish list is suing climate skeptics into poverty and silence. Mediaite's Alex Griswold reported the following on Thursday ...

For White Catholics, Climate Science ‘Clashes With Their Other God: The Free Market’

When it comes to American Catholic opinions about climate change, a recent poll shows a major gap between whites and Latinos. The Public Religion Research Institute reports that by margins of approximately 20 percent, Latino Catholics are likelier than white Catholics to believe that there is such a thing as global warming; that it’s “due to human activity”; and that it “constitutes a crisis or a major problem.” What’s causing this discrepancy?

A false god, suggests writer Patricia Miller. “White Catholics don’t accept the scientific consensus on climate change because it clashes with their other god: the free market,” declared Miller in a Thursday piece for Salon. “Over the last 15 years…much of institutional American Catholicism has become hopeless[ly] intertwined with a conservative, liberation [sic] ideology that has trickled down to Catholics in the pews. Leading bishops like New York’s Cardinal Timothy Dolan have been quick to reassure Catholics, who are increasingly trending Republican, that their anti-redistributive ideology is A-OK even in the Francis era.”

Juan Williams: Blacks' Support For Voter ID 'Amazing'

Poor Juan Williams. So occasionally correct, as when he wrote forcefully on the damage done by an urban culture which has made so many black children "believe that excelling in math and science is 'acting white.'"

But he's also so often egregiously wrong, perhaps never moreso than in his Monday column at the Hill. Williams is astonished that a recent poll, consistent with others, shows that over two-thirds of blacks support a photo identification requirement for voting. In the process, he cited perhaps the dumbest statistic I've ever seen on the topic, misrepresented a 2013 Supreme Court decision, and failed to understand that blacks may end up being most adversely affected if voter fraud ever become widespread.

Juan Williams: Dems should not be losing voting-rights fight

Why are Democrats losing the debate over voting rights?

... Even most black Americans — people who, overwhelmingly, don’t vote Republican — currently favor new requirements for voters to have photo identification. Three-quarters of all voters — people of all races and political parties — favor such laws, according to polls.

The black support for photo identification of voters can only be described as amazing.

The current state of public opinion, including among the black community, is doubly incredible because there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud anywhere in the nation.

Variety Blasts NBC for Going ‘Way Too Easy’ On Rachel Dolezal

In a Tuesday article, Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Andrew Wallenstein slammed NBC for its series of exclusive interviews with ex-NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal: “...the most absurd aspect of NBC News’ Dolezal Day was how straight-faced its interviewers sat as their subject grew loonier the more she spoke.” Dolezal sat down for a live interview with co-host Matt Lauer on Tuesday’s Today, a taped interview with MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, and another taped interview with Today co-host Savannah Guthrie that was aired on NBC Nightly News that evening.

Wallenstein observed:

Lauer and Harris-Perry somehow didn’t ask a single question that really challenged Dolezal, who was given free rein to self-mythologize a story that even the most sympathetic observer would have to concede is just begging for some tough questions. Instead, it was as if the sheer peculiarity of an eloquent woman professing to be black despite being born white had knocked them so off-balance that they might have been better off just standing there slack-jawed.

New York Times Encourages Student Loan Defaults, But Darkly Questions Rubio's Finances

I am almost certain there are people in this country who want to ensure an entitlement generation. I find Lee Siegel to be one of these people.

Last weekend, Siegel wrote an op-ed in the New York Times titled “Why I Defaulted on My Student Loans.” In the piece, he whined about the debt he owed and made excuses for why he couldn’t or WOULDN’T pay off his student loan. He complained that when he and his mother took out his first student loan, he was congratulated “as if I had just won some kind of award rather than signed away my young life.”

Mr. Siegel should’ve considered himself so lucky to even go to college – and that loan allowed him to do just that. He whined when his mother took out a second loan for him, his father declared bankruptcy and his parents divorced, leaving him to transfer from a private college to a state college in New Jersey. *gasp* God forbid! He writes:

FLASHBACK: ABC's ’08 Prediction: NYC Under Water From Climate Change By June 2015

New York City underwater? Gas over $9 a gallon? A carton of milk costs almost $13? Welcome to June 12, 2015. Or at least that was the wildly-inaccurate version of 2015 predicted by ABC News exactly seven years ago. Appearing on Good Morning America in 2008, Bob Woodruff hyped Earth 2100, a special that pushed apocalyptic predictions of the then-futuristic 2015.

The segment included supposedly prophetic videos, such as a teenager declaring, "It's June 8th, 2015. One carton of milk is $12.99." (On the actual June 8, 2015, a gallon of milk cost, on average, $3.39.) Another clip featured this prediction for the current year: "Gas reached over $9 a gallon." (In reality, gas costs an average of $2.75.)

Immigration Poll Results Ignored By Spanish Nets

New polling showing high levels of dissatisfaction with the Obama administration’s handling of federal immigration policy, as well as majority support for doing “a lot” more to reduce illegal immigration, has so far been ignored by the nation’s top Spanish-language television networks. According to the latest Pew Research Center survey, 56% of adults disapprove of President Obama’s handling of the nation’s immigration policy.

Even among Hispanics, disapproval of the President’s handling of the issue (48%) exceeds approval (44%). Similarly, the national evening newscasts of Univision, Telemundo and MundoFox failed to report that 51% of those surveyed believe “a lot” can be done to reduce illegal immigration at U.S. borders. All three networks typically dedicate large chunks of their news programming to immigration-related topics. However, on this occasion, only Univision dedicated a 29-second brief to the survey, and limited its report to those polling results which were favorable to the network’s pro-amnesty agenda.

Commenting on the spike in New York City’s murder rate, the Chairman of the National Latino Officers Association, NYPD veteran Anthony Miranda, told MundoFox that “many officers are confused” and “don’t know whether to follow the media or the law.”

Lefty HuffPo: ‘Serious People’ Agree Major Obamacare Hikes Possible

he liberal website The Huffington Post, which once advised readers on how to avoid talking about Obamacare during Thanksgiving dinner, surprisingly confronted a serious problem for the Affordable Care Act recently. On June 1, HuffPost Live host Josh Zepps and Huffington Post senior national correspondent Jonathan Cohn talked about the unaffordability of Obamacare. In the segment, "What If The Affordable Care Act Isn't Affordable?," Cohn admitted that "rate increases look higher" for 2016 than in previous years, based on proposals that insurers were required to submit to the government by June 1.

Companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico reportedly want to increase their premiums by as much as 50 percent. "It’s not clear, you know, where we’re going to end up," Cohn said. "But there are hints of it [substantially higher rates], enough that I think serious people are looking at this and saying, 'Yeah, that might be the case.'"

Christiane Amanpour: U.S. Will Beat ISIS Before Brian Williams Returns to NBC

During an appearance on Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore on Monday, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour joked “we defeat ISIS” when asked: “What happens first: we defeat ISIS or Brian Williams anchoring again?”

In response to a question of Wilmore, the longtime CNN reporter blasted the Obama administrations’s ISIS strategy and argued that “I don’t think there is enough committed to the fight against ISIS. ISIS has to be beaten. ISIS can be beaten. We can beat them without putting American boots on the ground.”

Amanpour went one step further and explained how “as one counter-terrorism official said today, America is doing it half-assed and America can’t win half assed.” Given how poorly the U.S. strategy against ISIS is going, one shouldn't expect Brian Williams to return to the anchor's desk anytime in the near future.

After actor Vince Vaughn declared himself to be an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment in a recent interview with British GQ, only Tuesday’s NBC Today took notice of the celebrity’s conservative stance – and only for a brief 30 seconds. ABC and CBS completely ignored the story. Even ABC’s Good Morning America, usually obsessed with pop culture, skipped the news.

Cuba's Removal From US Terror List Celebrated On MundoFox

The Obama Administration's decision to remove the Castro regime from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism was the subject of an entirely favorable report on MundoFox. Unlike Spanish-language rivals Univision and Telemundo, in its coverage MundoFox ignored bipartisan criticism of the administration’s highly controversial move, and inexplicably only featured the administration’s and Cuban regime’s point of view on the subject.

In reporting on the Obama administration’s decision, MundoFox solely featured comments by Raúl Castro and his supporters in Cuba, parroting and citing the position of Castro and his counter-allegations that Cuba has been the victim of terror by the U.S.

MSNBC's Dyson Compares Rand Paul To Segregationist George Wallace

On Sunday’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Michael Eric Dyson, regular fill-in host on MSNBC’s The Ed Show, took a swipe at Republican Presidential candidate Senator Rand Paul when he accused him of sounding like “George Wallace in one beat and like Noam Chomsky on the other.”

Dyson’s comments came in response to Stephanopoulos wondering if “Hillary Clinton's baggage is going to start to weigh her down, how concerned are Democrats, progressives getting about that?” The MSNBC host eagerly spun and argued that “I don't think too terribly concerned. Look, she's been vetted already. All the stuff and guff she’s taken over the years, she’s got a lot of practice in trying to thrust.”

Lefty Blogger Likens Dick Cheney To Pol Pot

Monday was a big day for journalists to suggest similarities between mass murderers and Republicans. Newsweek writer Nina Burleigh claimed that certain of Timothy McVeigh’s “militia ideals have gone mainstream” in the GOP, but Esquire blogger Charles Pierce really put the ideological pedal to the metal when he likened Dick Cheney to one of the all-time worst genocidal maniacs, opining that Cheney’s relatively high current political profile is akin to “giving Pol Pot a late-night TV gig.” (As a lead-in, Pierce also called Cheney “the most inexcusable American who ever lived.”)

Pierce’s item piggybacked on a Washington Monthly post by Ed Kilgore, whose tone toward Cheney was not much less harsh than Pierce’s. After quoting Reince Priebus’s remark that Cheney is “a top fundraising draw, in high demand,” Kilgore sniped, “I suppose this is an example of what the church calls the ‘glamor of evil’ in the Easter baptismal renewal vows.”
