Police Baffled By ‘Random’ Hollywood Murder Of Woman On Street

By David K. Li July 7, 2015, NY Post

Baffled Los Angeles cops canvassed a popular Tinseltown tourist area on Tuesday, scrambling for any clues into the seemingly senseless murder of a woman walking down the street.

Carrie Jean Melvin, 30, and her boyfriend were strolling on Sunset Boulevard near McCadden Place just after 10 p.m. Sunday when a man walked up behind her, pointed a shotgun and opened fire, police said.
The suspect jumped into a black sedan and got away. The boyfriend was not injured in the brutal attack and stayed with his mortally wounded gal pal, police said.

“We’ve interviewed the boyfriend, there’s no indication that they had any idea there were enemies [of Melvin], that she would be targeted, so at this point, we just don’t know,” said LAPD Detective John Skaggs.

SF Sheriff Mirkarimi: Pier 14 Murder Could Happen In Any U.S. City

CBS News July 7, 2015,

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) — San Francisco Sheriff’s deputies have been making secret phone calls for years to help the Feds get illegal immigrants like murder suspect Francisco Sanchez, off the streets.

One former cop said it happened all the time because they “resented” the city’s so-called ‘sanctuary policy‘ and they wanted to get illegal immigrant criminals off the streets. Then, Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi got wind of it.
KPIX 5 obtained the memo Sheriff Mirkarimi sent to his deputies in March spelling out that he, and only he, can turn over illegal immigrants to Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE).

He sent the memo to all sworn personnel. It basically told them to stop going rogue.

TWO PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ALLEGEDLY MURDER TWO WOMEN IN TWO STATES — IN 24 HOURS

By Brandon Darby July 6, 2015, Breitbart

A 24-hour period last Wednesday and Thursday saw two cases of male illegal immigrants allegedly murdering women in two separate U.S. states: California and Texas. In both instances, the women’s murder could have been prevented by authorities had they enforced existing U.S. immigration laws and/or had the U.S.-Mexico border been functionally secured. The California murder involved an illegal immigrant who had been previously deported five times with seven felonies and the Texas murder involved an illegal immigrant who had been deported on four previous occasions. In the Texas case, local Laredo police had been called to the man’s house on at least three occasions over domestic disputes, yet they failed to contact Border Patrol about the man, according to federal agents.

Western Leaders Condemn Nemtsov Killing, Press Kremlin

By AP News, Feb. 28, 2015, Townhall.com

BERLIN (AP) — Western leaders are condemning the assassination of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov and pressing the Kremlin to ensure that the killing is investigated thoroughly. Here is a selection of comments.
___

"Mr. Nemtsov will be remembered as a fearless advocate of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Russia. A leader unafraid to voice essential truths, even in the face of violent intimidation, he was also a prominent opponent of Russia's aggression in Ukraine and the illegal occupation of Crimea." __ Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
___

"His life was dedicated to speaking up tirelessly for the Russian people, to demanding their right to democracy and liberty under the rule of law, and to an end to corruption. He did so without fear, and never gave in to intimidation. ... The courage of Nemtsov's life contrasts with the utter cowardice of his murder." __ British Prime Minister David Cameron.

David Ruenzel: Guy Who Made A Living Excusing Black Criminality Just Got Murdered By Two Black Oakland Males

V. Saxena, Dec. 4, 2014, Downtrend

Not to sound coldhearted, as a man lost his life, but I guess he had to learn the brutally hard way that there is no excuse for any sort of criminal violence, regardless of whether it is committed by an allegedly victimized black person or an allegedly privileged white person – and that anyone can be a victim of criminal violence, including even those who make a living out of excusing it.

D’Vera Cohn, Paul Taylor, Mark Hugo Lopez, Catherine A. Gallagher, Kim Parker and Kevin T. Maass, May 7, 2013, Pew Research Center

National rates of gun homicide and other violent gun crimes are strikingly lower now than during their peak in the mid-1990s, paralleling a general decline in violent crime, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of government data. Beneath the long-term trend, though, are big differences by decade: Violence plunged through the 1990s, but has declined less dramatically since 2000.

Iran Hangs Reyhaneh Jabbari For Murder Of Her 'Attempted Rapist'

Heather Saul, Oct. 25, 2014, Independent.co.uk

Iran has executed Reyhaneh Jabbari for killing a man she says had tried to rape her despite an international campaign calling for a reprieve.

Ms Jabbari’s mother Shole Pakravan confirmed her death to BBC Persian. She said her 26-year-old daughter was hanged in a Tehran prison and she was due to see her daughter’s body at the cemetery today.

Her death was described as a "travesty" by Amnesty International.

Amnesty said Ms Pakravan received a call from prison authorities on Friday, where she was told to visit her daughter for the final time before her execution at dawn on Saturday. She was granted an hour with Ms Jabbari before being made to leave.

Ms Jabbari was arrested in 2007 for the killing of Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former employee of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence who she said tried to sexually abuse her.

Michael Dunn Sentenced To Life In 'Loud Music' Trial

Murder victim Jordan Davis (right)
Convicted murderer Michael Dunn (left)
By Michele Richnick, Oct. 17, 2014, Msnbc.com

Michael Dunn was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole on Friday for the 2012 Florida shooting death of unarmed black teenager Jordan Davis. The sentence, in what was deemed the “loud music trial,” also carries an additional 90 years for three previous convictions of attempted murder — 30 consecutive years for each count — and 15 concurrent years for firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.

Dunn, 47, who is white, fired 10 rounds at the 17-year-old African-American and his friends in November 2012 after fighting with them about music coming from their SUV in a Jacksonville parking lot. During a retrial on Oct. 1, jurors unanimously found Dunn guilty of first-degree murder for Davis’ death. In Florida, first-degree murder is punishable by life in prison without parole.

In February, Dunn was convicted of three counts of second-degree attempted murder toward Davis’ friends. But after more than 30 hours, jurors couldn’t reach a verdict on his first-degree murder charge, resulting in a mistrial on that count.

Michael Dunn found guiltyAt the hearing on Friday, Dunn read a brief statement and, for the first time, publicly apologized for killing the teen. Several of Davis’ family members and friends attended the hearing and addressed Dunn.

“I miss his big, wide, toothy smile,” Davis’ mother, Lucy McBath, said through tears. “For me, there will be no college graduation. There will be no daughter-in-law. For me, there will be no future generation.”

She went on to add, “I, too, must be willing to forgive. And so I choose to forgive you, Mr. Dunn, for taking my son’s life. I pray that God has mercy on your soul.”

A nurse in Italy is accused of killing 38 patients because she thought they were “annoying.”

Daniela Poggiali was arrested Friday on murder charges, Italian newspaper Corriere di Bologna reports. The 42-year-old nurse caught the attention of authorities after theApril death of 78-year-old Rosa Calderoni, according to the Independent’s translation of Italian newspaper Libero Quotidiano.

Calderoni was admitted to a hospital in the town of Lugo with a diabetes-related ailment, and died from what officials believe was a fatal injection of potassium chloride. Prosecutors say that their investigation is more difficult because potassium chloride fades from the bloodstream within a couple days, making it hard to detect.
