Man Shoots And Kills Armed Robber During Home Invasion (VIDEO)

We’ve seen people posting this viral video claiming that it took place in various locations in the United States, which is not true.

Here’s the real story, courtesy of Full30.com:

This attempted robbery took place in Brazil as a couple pulled into their garage. A group of three men hold the door open before it can completely close, and approach the driver side of the car armed with a handgun (seen at 0:37).

The concealed carrier in the driver seat noticed the man approaching and fired several rounds into the attacker. The criminal can be seen letting a shot off at 0:17 as he cowers against the wall.

The 32 year old man who was shot by the driver died from his wounds, and the other two men were apprehended by the authorities.

This is another prime example of a time when local law enforcement can do nothing for you. Your personal safety is your own responsibility.

Pizza Deliver Driver Shoots Suspect During Attack

Sunday night, a female driver delivered pizza in the 1800 block of Camellia Drive in DeKalb County.

According to police, a man came outside to meet up with the driver when he jumped her and threw her on the ground. Police say a second man came out to assist with the robbery.

That's when police say the victim pulled out her gun and fired at one of the suspects, 24-year-old Donquaz Stevenson.

2 Bad Guys With Guns Burst Into A Restaurant--In Texas

Koy Sam and his wife were in the process of closing their Houston restaurant for the day when two armed robbers walked in. As one of them forced the couple to the floor, the other one headed for the cash register.

An unidentified customer, who was in the middle of his meal, then decided to take matters into his own hands.

The customer, also armed, held one of the would-be robbers at gunpoint until the police arrived. He fired at the other suspect as he fled, hitting the front windows of the store.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday afternoon released a few more details about the incident. The boy removed the 9mm semi-automatic handgun from his mother's purse and shot her once in the head, killing her instantly, the sheriff's office said.

A Texas motorist who’s also a concealed handgun license holder told police he saw a man beating a woman in another car on Friday afternoon, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

So he got out of his car when both vehicles had stopped, pointed his gun at the other driver and forced him out of the vehicle until Southlake police arrived, the Star-Telegram reported.

Metro Shooting Supplies, in an area near the city's main airport, reports selling two to three times more weapons than usual in recent weeks - an average of 30 to 50 guns each day - while the jury prepares to conclude its three-month review of the case that sparked looting and weeks of sometimes-violent protests in August.

Gun Sales Up As Ferguson Braces For Unrest

Lately, Dan McMullen has been bringing an extra gun to his office in Ferguson, Missouri.

McMullen runs Solo Insurance on West Florissant close to where looting and vandalism briefly broke out in early August after a police officer shot to death teenager Michael Brown.

"I bring an extra gun now only because it has a bigger magazine," McMullen says. He began carrying it after tensions increased in the area following the shooting. He says he would never use it to protect his business, but he would use it to save his life.

Former major league slugger Jose Canseco blew his middle finger clear off his hand while cleaning his handgun at home in Las Vegas.
Jose's fiancée Leila Knight tells TMZ Sports ... he was sitting at a table in their home cleaning the gun when it went off. She says he didn't know it was loaded -- and the shot ripped through the middle finger on his left hand.

Single Mom Faces No Jail Time For Mistakenly Bringing Gun To NJ

It appears that Shaneen Allen will be avoiding prison time after she was charged with bringing her legal firearm into New Jersey. Allen, a Pennsylvania resident and mother of two, bought a handgun and obtained a concealed carry permit after being robbed twice; she doesn’t have a criminal record. The problem is that New Jersey does not have a reciprocity agreement with Pennsylvania regarding concealed carry permits.

As Katie wrote in a previous post, she accidentally brought her firearm into New Jersey, where she willingly informed a police officer, who had pulled her over for a traffic violation, that she was carrying her handgun. As a result, she faced up to ten-years in prison.

Well, not anymore (via Press Of Atlantic City):
A Philadelphia mother facing prison time for bringing her legally registered gun into New Jersey will be allowed into a diversion program, after the attorney general clarified a directive that had expanded New Jersey's gun law. 
Shaneen Allen was arrested last year after a motor vehicle stop on the Atlantic City Expressway in Hamilton Township. She told the state trooper that she had her loaded gun and a concealed carry permit with her.

Washington D.C. City Council Passes Concealed-Carry Gun Law

(Reuters) - The Washington city council passed emergency gun legislation on Tuesday requiring residents and visitors to adhere to strict guidelines to carry a concealed weapon in the U.S. capital.

The move came after a federal judge in July overturned the District of Columbia's ban on carrying handguns outside the home, saying it was unconstitutional. The judge's order was under a temporary stay, giving the city time to fashion a new law.

"It's a situation where we don't really want to do this, but we have to," Councilman Marion Barry said before the vote.

The new law requires residents to get a concealed-carry permit, complete 16 hour of firearms training and be at least 21 years old. Those with a history of mental illness within the last five years will be ineligible.

Non-residents can carry guns in the District of Columbia if they register their weapon with the city and adhere to the same guidelines required of residents.

Even with a permit, the law forbids carrying guns into bars, public buildings, schools or on public transit. The final decision on issuing a permit rests with the police chief, with appeals sent to a review board.

Burglary Suspect Arrested After Being Shot By Homeowner

A 25-year-old Glendale man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Van Nuys home and getting shot by the homeowner.

Grachia Nalbanyan allegedly entered the home in the 6200 block of Matilija Avenue at 11:10 p.m. Monday. According to a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department, Nalbanyan attacked the homeowner who then shot the suspect in the hip with a handgun.

Nalbanyan, who is on federal probation for possession of a firearms, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was reportedly unarmed at the time of the home invasion.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported Nalbanyan to a local hospital. He was later cleared for booking and was transported to the county jail where he will continue to receive treatment for his injury.

The homeowner was not injured.

Police: Robbery Suspect Loses 'Bet' That Victim Doesn't Have A Gun --Surprise, surprise!!

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man with a gunshot wound was reported, Friday morning, at an apartment complex called the Pines on Watkins Drive; but he wasn't shot there.

Jackson police say, shortly before that, a guest at a nearby Motel 6 had a run in with the man in the rear parking lot.

They say the guest was approached by a man asking for cigarettes.

The hotel guest said he didn't have any cigarettes.

The man began to walk away, when Officer Colendula Green said, "At that time the complainant advised he didn't. As the unknown male proceeded to turn around he turned back towards the complainant advising the complainant "I bet you don't have one of these", pointing a gun in his direction. At that point the complainant pulled out his weapon and began firing shots."

The shooting victim left and was later picked up by ambulance at the Pines apartments.

He was hospitalized, but is not being identified at this time.

Right now the man who shot him, a contractor from the coast working in Jackson, is not being charged. He was protected under Mississippi's castle law.

The case will still be presented to the Hinds County Jury.

North Carolina restaurant The Pit was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday. Normally, local crime stories like this wouldn't merit a Townhall post, but this one is different: The Pit has a "no weapons" sign displayed prominently on its door declaring the restaurant a gun-free zone, and bans patrons from carrying concealed weapons.

Authorities said just before 9 p.m. Sunday, three men wearing hoodies entered the restaurant through the back doors with pistols, and forced several staff members to lie on the floor.

The bandits assaulted two employees during the crime, but they were not seriously injured.

What groups like Everytown for Gun Safety or Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America seem to have an issue grasping is that criminals have no respect for the law by nature of being criminals. Criminals aren't going to be stopped by a "no guns allowed" sign. If somebody is going to rob or shoot up a Chipotle, for instance, they're not going to care that they cannot (or have been politely asked not to) bring a gun onto the premises. Criminals are not going to submit to background checks. They'll use straw purchases or just buy a gun from an illegal source. All these policies and laws do is make it harder for legal gun owners to protect themselves.

While I am thankful nobody was hurt, this certainly harms the narrative that "gun free" places are safe places.
