NYPD Cops Flood High-Crime Areas In ‘Summer All Out’ Initiative

By CBS New York, Jun. 8, 2015

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The NYPD began a major effort Monday to combat a spike in violent crime.

For the first time in nearly two decades, crime statistics show shootings in the city are up for a second straight year.

“As we expect, when the warm weather comes, we see an increase in certain crimes,” Chief of Department James O’Neill said earlier this month. “We’re struggling with homicides and shootings.”

To help change that, the department is launching its “Summer All Out” program a full month ahead of schedule.

Under the program, 330 police officers will leave administrative duties to patrol 10 precincts where shootings and murders are up.

‘Ferguson Effect': America’s New Crime Wave Is All Part Of The Plan

Ferguson Riots
By John Nolte, May 30, 2015, Breitbrat

The Wall Street Journal is calling the dramatic end of America’s two-decade-long drop in crime “The Ferguson Effect.” Led behind the scenes by President Obama, America’s fraudulent civil rights leaders (Al Sharpton) and the mainstream media (especially CNN), worked together — starting with their lies in Ferguson — to launch hate campaigns against the police.

The result is an empowered criminal element and by extension a horrific increase in murders, shootings, and other violent crimes:

Gun violence is up more than 60% compared with this time last year, according to Baltimore police, with 32 shootings over Memorial Day weekend. May has been the most violent month the city has seen in 15 years.

In Milwaukee, homicides were up 180% … Through April, shootings in St. Louis were up 39%, robberies 43%, and homicides 25%. “Crime is the worst I’ve ever seen it,” said St. Louis Alderman Joe Vacarro at a May 7 City Hall hearing.

The New Nationwide Crime Wave

By Heather McDonald, May 29, 2015, Wall Street Journal

The nation’s two-decades-long crime decline may be over. Gun violence in particular is spiraling upward in cities across America. In Baltimore, the most pressing question every morning is how many people were shot the previous night. Gun violence is up more than 60% compared with this time last year, according to Baltimore police, with 32 shootings over Memorial Day weekend. May has been the most violent month the city has seen in 15 years.

In Milwaukee, homicides were up 180% by May 17 over the same period the previous year. Through April, shootings in St. Louis were up 39%, robberies 43%, and homicides 25%. “Crime is the worst I’ve ever seen it,” said St. Louis Alderman Joe Vacarro at a May 7 City Hall hearing.

Murders in Atlanta were up 32% as of mid-May. Shootings in Chicago had increased 24% and homicides 17%. Shootings and other violent felonies in Los Angeles had spiked by 25%; in New York, murder was up nearly 13%, and gun violence 7%.

Fatal Police Shootings In 2015 Approaching 400 Nationwide

By Kimberly Kindy, and reported by Julie Tate, Jennifer Jenkins, Steven Rich, Keith L. Alexander and Wesley Lowery, May 30, 2015, Washington Post

In an alley in Denver, police gunned down a 17-year-old girl joyriding in a stolen car. In the backwoods of North Carolina, police opened fire on a gun-wielding moonshiner. And in a high-rise apartment in Birmingham, Ala., police shot an elderly man after his son asked them to make sure he was okay. Douglas Harris, 77, answered the door with a gun.

The three are among at least 385 people shot and killed by police nationwide during the first five months of this year, more than two a day, according to a Washington Post analysis. That is more than twice the rate of fatal police shootings tallied by the federal government over the past decade, a count that officials concede is incomplete.

“These shootings are grossly underreported,” said Jim Bueermann, a former police chief and president of the Washington-based Police Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving law enforcement. “We are never going to reduce the number of police shootings if we don’t begin to accurately track this information.”

Rasmussen Ferguson Poll: 70% Blame Urban Crime

By Rasmussen, Mar. 11, 2015

The fallout continues in Ferguson, Missouri, following a Justice Department report accusing the city government of a widespread pattern of racial discrimination. But in most inner city communities, is racism the real problem?

Not according to 70% of Likely U.S. Voters who say the level of crime in low-income inner city communities is a bigger problem in America today than police discrimination against minorities. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 20% think police discrimination is the bigger problem. Ten percent (10%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

There’s a sharp racial difference of opinion on this question, however. Fifty-six percent (56%) of black voters believe police discrimination against minorities is the bigger problem. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of whites and 54% of other minority voters disagree and view inner city crime as the bigger issue.

‘Race Wars’ Part 1: The Shocking Data On Black-On-Black Crime

Tiffany Gabbay, Apr. 9, 2012, The Blaze

Indeed, statistics support a very different narrative than the one usually offered by “race hustlers,” as Pastor C.L. Bryant calls them, who routinely portray an America where members of the black community are selectively targeted and brutalized by white racists.

A 2007 special report released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, reveals that approximately 8,000 — and, in certain years, as many as 9,000 African Americans are murdered annually in the United States. This chilling figure is accompanied by another equally sobering fact, that 93% of these murders are in fact perpetrated by other blacks. The analysis, supported by FBI records, finds that in 2005 alone, for example, African Americans accounted for 49% of all homicide victims in the US — again, almost exclusively at the hands of other African Americans.

Chicago: 7 Dead, 20 Wounded in Chicago Weekend Violence

By NBC Washington, Sept. 7, 2014, Nbcwashington.com

At least 22 people have been shot and several others stabbed in violent attacks across Chicago this weekend.

Police said five people were fatally shot and two people were stabbed to death this weekend.

The weekend’s first homicide took place around 11:30 p.m. Friday when police found a man stabbed to death inside a home in the 5800 block of North Mobile Avenue.

Officers were conducting a well-being check after neighbors reported a disturbance leading to a fight outside the home.

Police arrived and found a 36-year-old man in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Around the same time, a 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a robbery attempt in the West Rogers Park neighborhood roughly 6.5 miles away.

The man was standing near a park in the 6200 block of North Hoyne Avenue when a group of men walked up and demanded his cell phone. When the man refused, he was stabbed.

The victim was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Around 3 a.m. Saturday police said a 64-year-old man was killed during an attempted robbery outside a store in the 1500 block of South Lawndale Avenue. The man was approached by two men who shot him while attempting to rob him. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic.

Just after 4 a.m. Saturday, a 19-year-old man was shot in the chest in the West Town neighborhood. The teen may have been a passenger in a vehicle at the time of the shooting, which took place in the 500 block of North Bishop, police said.

Chicago Crime Rate Drops As Concealed-Carry Applications Surge

Credit:  CBS Chicago / Scott Olson / Getty Images
By Investors Business Daily, Sept. 2, 2014

More Guns, Less Crime: Since Illinois began issuing concealed-carry permits this year, robberies, burglaries, car thefts and, yes, even murder, are down significantly.

Last month, when an 86-year-old Crestwood, Ill., man decided to visit his local phone store, he arrived to find a robbery underway. After staying outside to keep others from entering the store, he saw the suspect fleeing through a back door. He pursued the suspect, legal firearm in hand, stopped him, then held him until police arrived to make the arrest.

The actions of the unidentified law-abiding citizen were made possible by Illinois becoming the 50th and final state to enact a concealed-carry law, legislation that, as it has done nationwide, coincides with a precipitous drop in the Chicago crime rate.

Chicago Police Superintendent Gerry McCarthy, at a recent city council hearing, reported the good news of less crime. He credited better police work, but there's another factor McCarthy left unstated — the increase in the number of pistol-packing permits that let citizens defend themselves, their families and their neighbors. The law has left criminals uncertain of who might be able to shoot back.

"It isn't any coincidence that crime rates started to go down when concealed carry was permitted," Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association, said in the Washington Times.

"Just the idea that criminals don't know who is armed and who isn't has a deterrent effect. The police department hasn't changed a single tactic — they haven't announced a shift in policy — and you have these incredible numbers."

Ferguson: A History Of A Small Suburb With Big Violence Problems

Source:  Wiki commons / Gotnews.com
By Charleston Johnson, Aug. 21, 2014, Gotnews.com

A debate about police brutality and black urban crime was touched off by the tragic shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri. Left unexamined is the history of violence within Ferguson’s black community as well as violence against the police, notably a 2012 killing of a St. Louis County police employee by a Ferguson man as well as numerous assaults on police officers.

GotNews.com examined the past assaults against police officers in Ferguson, MO and the history of violence in the St. Louis suburb relying only on Missouri news reports. The investigation shows that police officers and their lives are often under threat in the small town and might explain the behavior of Officer Wilson.

Various media reports notwithstanding, Ferguson isn’t as peaceful as its small size might suggest. The St. Louis suburb is remarkably violent for its small population (21,203 according to the 2010 census) and size 6.201 square miles.

While it’s technically true that there hasn’t been a murder in Ferguson this year, there were murders of Ferguson residents elsewhere and there was one late last year.

Authorities filed murder charges on Terry L. Simmons, 30, for fatally shooting Quinton Luckett, 28, in the head in the 200 block of South Barat Avenue in Ferguson. Simmons’ rap sheet included convictions for domestic assault and robbery and a pending charge for dealing crack cocaine. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, November 14, 2013).

And while there were no murders in Ferguson, it wasn’t for lack of trying.

In May, a Ferguson man drew a Tec-9 with an extended magazine holding 30 rounds on St. Louis County officers. An officer shot and killed the Ferguson man.

Also this past May a Ferguson teen shot a 47-year-old man in back after the man refused to buy the teen and his friend beer at a convenience store. Carlos Blue, 17, left his victim for dead and robbed him. He was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and two counts of armed criminal action. (“Teen shot man who wouldn’t buy him beer at Pine Lawn store, police say,” St. Louis Post-Dispatch, May 14, 2014)

Many of the killings in Ferguson revolve around the drug trade. In August 2, 2013, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported one such typical instance:

James D. Kinnard, 24, of the 5900 block of Hamilton Terrace, was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison in a drug-related 2011 fatal shooting in Ferguson. Kinnard pleaded guilty July 11 to charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the killing of Santauri Dixon, 29, of Ferguson… Police said Kinnard fatally shot Dixon on Oct. 22, 2011, outside an apartment building in the 1300 block of Sharondale Circle. Authorities said Kinnard shot Dixon because he believed Dixon had robbed his drug boss. Kinnard must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, August 2, 2013).

Other times the killings are identified with no suspect listed. Three days after Kinnard was sentenced police identified “a man found slain in Kinloch as Clement Sonnier, 31, of the 9200 block of Ellison Drive in Ferguson. Sonnier was found shot to death on Gregory Drive near Mable Avenue…” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, April 5, 2013).

There were many crimes to choose from but these are the ones that are truly heinous.

  • In September 2012, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch published the following story with this headline: “Two women are killed in apartment shooting 1-year-old daughter of one victim was found near her body, unharmed.”

Chicagoland Weekend: Four Killed, 24 Wounded

Aug. 25, 2014

Four people were killed overnight in Chicago shootings.

Police say the most recent victim was a 17-year-old boy shot in the 2200 block of South Marshall at around 6 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was speaking with friends when two men approached the group shouting gang slogans and fired a gun. The teen was struck twice in the chest and taken to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

A 30-year-old man was shot in the chest and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. A 39-year-old was shot in the buttocks and was listed in stable condition, a 32-year-old was shot in the chest and taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, and a 41-year-old was shot in the left ankle.

No arrests have been made in the case.

A man was killed in front of a home in the 800 block of West 50th Place at about 2:45 a.m.

Police say the 40-year-old male was sitting on a porch when a light-colored vehicle pulled up. The victim walked up to the car and someone fired a gun, striking him in the left part of his chest. No arrests have been made in the case.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, three people were shot and one was killed at a party in the backyard of a home in the 5000 block of West Potomac.

Police say a person appeared from an alley and began firing. A 33-year-old man was shot in the torso. He was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived. Two other men were also shot but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

ICYMI: 3 White Girls Attacked By Black Mob

By Larry Elder, Apr. 5, 2012

Why did the Trayvon Martin case become such a huge national story?

Is it because an innocent black teenager lost his life at the hands of a man, George Zimmerman, who "racially profiled" him? Is it that the victim is black and the shooter was not? Is it because the major media push the narrative that white anti-black racism remains an "unresolved" national issue? Is it because "civil rights activist" and MSNBC host Al Sharpton demands the shooter's arrest, threatening peaceful civil disobedience and "economic sanctions"?

If violent black-white crime generates headlines, where were the media after the sickening racially motivated assault that occurred in Long Beach, Calif., on Halloween night, 2006?

Three young white women were brutally kicked, punched and beaten by a mostly black mob of 30 to 40 teens and adults. According to witnesses, during the rampage the mob yelled: "We hate white people. F--- whites!" Yet only two local papers reported the story, and one -- the Los Angeles Times -- published its article a full week after the attack! National Public Radio got around to mentioning Long Beach a month later, but only to raise the question of whether blacks, given America's history of racism, can even commit a "hate crime."

The way The New York Times covered the 1991 Crown Heights, N.Y., riots shows how the major media downplay black violence. A Columbia University professor called the three days of anti-Semitic rioting "a modern-day pogrom."

The Crown Heights riots started after a 7-year-old black child was killed in a traffic accident when a car driven by a Hasidic Jew went out of control. The Rev. Sharpton led 400 protesters through the Jewish section of Crown Heights, with one protester holding a sign that read, "The White Man Is the Devil." During the ensuing nights of rock- and bottle-throwing, nearly 200 people suffered injuries. Surrounded by a mob yelling, "Kill the Jew!" a young Talmudic scholar, Yankel Rosenbaum, was stabbed to death.

Last year, on the 20th anniversary of the Crown Heights riots, Rosenbaum's brother wrote: "It was Sharpton who repeatedly bellowed to the rioters, 'No justice, no peace!' And Sharpton claims his remarks at Gavin Cato's funeral were misinterpreted. Here is what he said ... : 'Talk about how Oppenheimer in South Africa sends diamonds straight to Tel Aviv and deals with the diamond merchants right here in Crown Heights. The issue is not anti-Semitism; the issue is apartheid. ... All we want to say is what Jesus said: If you offend one of these little ones, you got to pay for it. No compromise, no meetings, no coffee klatch, no skinnin' and grinnin'.'"

But according to a New York Times reporter, Ari Goldman, the Times insisted on reporting a false narrative: (SET ITAL) that during the riots Jews were as likely to be the aggressor as were blacks. (END ITAL) Frustrated over the misleading reporting, Goldman said he called his Times editor to complain, "'You don't know what's happening here!' I yelled. 'I am on the streets getting attacked. Someone next to me just got hit. I am writing memos, and what comes out in the paper? 'Hasidim and blacks clashed'? That's not what is happening here. Jews are being attacked! You've got this story all wrong. All wrong.'"

The New York Times simply did not want to hear about the one-sided nature of the riots. Nor is accurately covering the extent of black-on-black crime apparently news that's fit to print.

Following Trayvon Martin's death, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, "Blacks are under attack" -- presumably by the George Zimmermans of the country. And Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., a black lawmaker and former member of the Black Panthers, stood up on the floor of the House. Against House rules, he donned a hoodie, presumably to demonstrate the unfairness of profiling a black man based on his clothing.

Rush later described himself as "an African-American father whose son has been killed on the streets." Rush implied that his son, like Trayvon Martin, was an innocent black victim of random street violence.

The details remain murky about the death of Rush's son. But Rush's son, Huey, was allegedly working as a drug-runner. Evidence suggests that Huey was targeted. One of the murder suspects said Huey had been paid $100,000 to procure drugs that he failed to deliver. And tragically, in 2002 another member of Rush's family, Dennis Rush, was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery during a narcotics transaction. The crime had nothing to do with randomness or profiling.

For many in the media, the Trayvon Martin case is a referendum on "race relations" in America. But the case is really a referendum on the media. The media are intensely interested in covering white-on-black violence, even when rushing to do so -- as in the Duke lacrosse "rape" case -- compromises the truth. But the media are far less interested in reporting about the No. 1 cause of death of young black men age 15 to 24: homicide by other black men.

Larry Elder Blasts 'Odd Duck' Rand Paul For Telling Blacks Cops Are Out To Get Them

Sen. Rand Paul
Source:  www.salon.com
Credit:  Reuters / Jason Reed
By Tony Lee, Aug. 19, 2014, Breitbart.com

Calling Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) an "odd duck," conservative talk radio host Larry Elder accused Paul of needlessly fueling the notion that cops are out to get black people.

On Tuesday's The Laura Ingraham Show, Elder, after saying that he was as libertarian as Paul but disagreed with his foreign policy views, said of Paul's recent inclusion efforts, "I get the idea of making sure the Republican party is embracing black people and trying to attract black people, and he is coming to the inner city and giving speeches to the degree that most prospective republican nominees would never do."

"I get all that, but to lend fuel to this notion that 'cops are out to get us' is undermining the very effort," Elder said, noting that after George Zimmerman was acquitted, Jesse Jackson said, "blacks are under attack."

Elder asked, "by whom?" He pointed out that there are "7,000 black homicides last year, almost all of them at the hands of another black person." He said that in Chicago, there are at least ten homicides a week – "almost all of them unsolved."

"Now, where are all the cameras? Where's Don Lemon? Where's CNN? Where's Al? Where's Jesse?" he said. "And Chicago is Obama's adopted hometown for crying out loud. That's a real issue."

In a Time op-ed last week after the Ferguson riots, Paul said that "it is almost impossible for many Americans not to feel like their government is targeting them," and "given the racial disparities in our criminal justice system, it is impossible for African-Americans not to feel like their government is particularly targeting them."

CNN's Pereira Bemoans Chicago Violence 'Taking A Back Seat in the Headlines'

By Matthew Balan, Aug. 2014, Newsbusters.org

On Tuesday's This Hour, Michaela Pereira endorsed guest L. Z. Granderson's take on the media's extensive coverage of the ongoing turmoil in Ferguson, Missouri in the wake of the shooting death of Michael Brown. The liberal commentator pointed out that "this past weekend, we had over 30 people shot – seven of them died – in the neighborhoods in Chicago – many of them black and brown. None of that was covered." [MP3 audio available here; video below the jump]

Pereira replied to Granderson by asserting that "because of Ferguson, Chicago is sort of taking a back seat in the headlines. And Chicago's a very concerning thing, and we need to keep watching. We need to keep addressing what's going on there." One wonders if the anchor will criticize her own network, as CNN has only mentioned the violence in the Windy City twice over the past week. Back on the August 13, 2014 edition of The Lead, Jake Tapper cited a recent column by Jesse Jackson:
