Piers Morgan Sits Down With Sean Hannity, Slams Obama on ISIS

Last night former CNN host Piers Morgan did something he never thought he'd do by sitting down for an interview at Fox News headquarters in New York City with Sean Hannity. Morgan is still set in his anti-Second Amendment views, but during the interview he offered a surprising critique of President Obama and gave extra criticism for recent comments he made on 60 Minutes blaming the intelligence community for failing to see the rise of ISIS in the Middle East.
"Why a President would say they about his own intelligence services and not we, why he would want people to think this has nothing to do with me. And when I look at the spread of ISIS through the Middle East, I lot of it comes back, it seems to me, to Obama’s foreign policy strategy of, I like to lead from behind," Morgan said." "America should go away from being to global policeman, to being the leader from behind. America shouldn’t be leading anything from behind. American is, at its best, a great super power. And when it’s at its best, whether it’s dealing with Ebola at a humanitarian level or ISIS on a terrorism/ foreign policy level, America has to be confident, bold, and strong, and decisive."
Morgan also slammed Obama for saying the Islamic State isn't Islamic and for his callous decision to hit the golf course immediately after making a statement about the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

In light of the killing spree that resulted in seven dead, including the shooter, expect the usual cry: “More gun control.”
California has among the nation’s most stringent gun laws, including the closure of the so-called gun show loophole. Still, there will be demands that California lawmakers “do something.” California State Sen. Leland Yee, an ardent anti-gun pol, certainly did something. He got caught on tape talking with an undercover FBI agent tape about illegally trafficking firearms!
But we digress.

Here’s my explosive “interview” with the now CNN-departed Piers Morgan over guns:
President Obama ordered the
CDC to study how often guns are used in self-defense. Last June, the CDC
quietly released its report: Guns are used for self-defense at least as often
as they are used improperly. The CDC even cited a study by Florida criminologist
Gary Kleck, who argues that Americans use firearms for self defense -- every
year -- about 2.5 million times.
Finally, I wrote this piece
about the frequency of self-defense with a firearm:

Criminologist Gary Kleck estimates that 2.5 million
Americans use guns to defend themselves each year. Out of that number, 400,000
believe that but for their firearms, they would have been dead.
Professor Emeritus James Q. Wilson, the UCLA public
policy expert, says: "We know from Census Bureau surveys that something
beyond 100,000 uses of guns for self-defense occur every year. We know from
smaller surveys of a commercial nature that the number may be as high as 2 1/2
or 3 million. We don't know what the right number is, but whatever the right
number is, it's not a trivial number."
Former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney David P.
Koppel studied gun control for the Cato Institute. Citing a 1979-1985 study by
the National Crime Victimization Survey, Koppel found: "When a robbery
victim does not defend himself, the robber succeeds 88 percent of the time, and
the victim is injured 25 percent of the time. When a victim resists with a gun,
the robbery success rate falls to 30 percent, and the victim injury rate falls
to 17 percent. No other response to a robbery -- from drawing a knife to
shouting for help to fleeing -- produces such low rates of victim injury and
robbery success."
More gun laws will simply
restrict the law-abiding, thus shifting power to the bad actors who ignore
laws. We call them bad actors for a reason.

The war of words has escalated between former CNN talk show host Larry King and his ill-fated successor Piers Morgan.
The latest volley has come from Morgan via Twitter, and it’s not pretty.
You’ll remember that King spoke out about all of the reasons why Morgan’s show crashed and burned so dramatically and dragged CNN down with it. Now Piers has had enough, and he wants King to shut his yammer.

This week marks the end
of Piers Morgan’s show on CNN and his run has been full of effusive praise for
liberals and damnation of conservatives. Even before Morgan began his show,
back in 2010, he tipped his hand in which ideological direction he wanted to
take the show when he revealed who he most wanted to interview: “I’d love to do
President Obama. I like what he’s done for the reputation of America abroad,
which I’m not sure many Americans fully understand.”
In contrast, Morgan
viciously attacked gun rights advocates and Tea Party activists, while giving
better treatment to Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who he once asked how
many times he had “been properly in love?” [video countdown after the

From oozing that Obama was the “perfect physical
specimen” to repeatedly insulting “unbelievably stupid” gun rights activists
and comparing the Tea Party to Nazis, the one time British tabloid editor
alienated viewers with one progressive punch after another.
