Favors To Clinton Foundation Donors Stretch Back To Hillary Clinton’s Senate Days

By Kelly Riddell, June 10, 2015, The Washington Times

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s efforts to provide favors to major donors to her husband’s global charity or her own political career stretch back far earlier than her tenure as America’s top diplomat, dating to the time she served as a U.S. senator and had the power to earmark federal funds and influence legislation, records show.

For instance, Mrs. Clinton introduced a bill when she was New York’s junior senator that allowed a donor to the Clinton Foundation to use tax-exempt bonds to build a shopping center in Syracuse, New York, public records show.

She also went to bat for Freddie Mac, working to defeat legislation that would have subjected the mortgage giant to tougher regulations before the housing bubble burst and led to a major recession. That same year, Freddie Mac donated $50,000 to $100,000 to her husband’s charity, originally called the William J. Clinton Foundation records show.

The Clinton ‘Charity’ Begins At Home

By Kimberly Strassel, Jun. 4, 2015, Wall Street Journal

The scandal of the century at the IRS was that agency’s secret targeting of conservative nonprofits. Perhaps a close second is the scandal of what the IRS hasn’t been investigating: the Clinton Foundation.

The media’s focus is on Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state, and whether she took official actions to benefit her family’s global charity. But the mistake is starting from the premise that the Clinton Foundation is a “charity.” What’s clear by now is that this family enterprise was set up as a global shakedown operation, designed to finance and nurture the Clintons’ continued political ambitions. It’s a Hillary super PAC that throws in the occasional good deed.

That much is made obvious by looking at the foundation’s employment rolls. Most charities are staffed by folks who have spent a lifetime in nonprofits, writing grants or doing overseas field work. The Clinton Foundation is staffed by political operatives. It has been basically a parking lot for Clinton campaign workers—a comfy place to draw a big check as they geared up for Hillary’s presidential run.

Clinton Charity Took Millions From African Church Which Calls Gays Devils

By Daniel Bates, Jun. 4, 2015, Daily Mail

Hillary Clinton's charity accepted a substantial donation from an anti-gay African church which has likened homosexuals to the Devil, Daily Mail Online can reveal.

The 2016 Presidential candidate took money for her sprawling health nonprofit from the Cameroon Baptist Convention whose official policy is that being gay 'contradicts God's purpose for human sexuality'.

The devout Christian organization has in the past compared being gay to committing incest and human trafficking. Its leaders have also railed against US attempts to promote gay rights in Cameroon.

Despite this, the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Board gave between $1million and $10million between 2010 and this year, according to the latest list of donors from the Clinton Health Access Initiative.

Bill And Hillary Clinton Slapped With Racketeering Lawsuit

By Lawrence Lease, May 27, 2015, Examiner.com

Freedom Watch’s Larry Klayman filed a Racketeering lawsuit against Bill and Hillary Clinton and theClinton Foundation on Wednesday. The lawsuit was filed in Florida, which includes a request to have the Florida judge seize the personal server on which former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her staff hosted their emails while she served in the State Department. Klayman has been known for filing lawsuits against the Clintons and other established politicians. The Clinton Foundation faces a RICO case. The case alleges the former first family and their foundation traded favors from international leaders for large donations or generous speaking fees. The suit was filed before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Civil Action No. 9:15-cv-80388.

Klayman claims that the Clintons, through both mail and wire fraud, misappropriated documents which he was entitled to under the Freedom of Information Act regarding Hillary Clinton’s involvement in leaking Irsaeli cyber-warfare plans and practices. Hillary Clinton orchestrated this release to harm and thwart Israeli plans to preemptively attack Iranian nuclear sites to stop the Islamic nation's march to producing atomic weapons. Klayman issued another FOIA request calling for the release of Hillary Clinton and other State Department’s records which relate to the granting of waivers for persons, companies, countries, and other interests to do business with Iran, in an attempt to undermine the economic sanctions.

Repressive Regimes Donated to Clinton Foundation, Got Federal Approval for Arms Deals

Reuters
By Ben Mathis Lilley, May 26, 2015, Slate.com

Repressive regimes in Algeria, Kuwait, and Qatar donated to the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state and also "gained State Department clearance to buy caches of American-made weapons" during that time, anInternational Business Times investigation reports.

The IBT piece reviews all known donations to the Clinton Foundation by countries and defense contractors involved in arms deals that were approved by the State Department during Hillary Clinton's tenure. During a broader increase in military exports under the Obama administration, more than $300 billion worth of weapons shipments were approved to 20 countries that were or have since become Clinton Foundation donors. Some of these recipients were longtime United States allies, such as Australia and Germany, with relatively upstanding recent records on human rights. Others weren't:

The State Department formally approved ... arms sales even as many of the deals enhanced the military power of countries ruled by authoritarian regimes whose human rights abuses had been criticized by the department.

What took so long?

The question isn't whether George Stephanopoulos compromised his credentials as a "journalist" by failing to reveal his donations to the Clinton Foundation. The question is why, immediately after Stephanopoulos left the Clinton administration, ABC hired this partisan in the first place.

In 1996, when ABC hired him, the initial press release said he would "serve both as a political analyst and as a correspondent." The "correspondent" role caused such an uproar -- even in liberal mainstream media -- that a few days later ABC quickly retreated: "I don't know how that got into the press release," said a spokeswoman. "He will not report the news."

Then-ABC News Vice President Joanna Bistany said Stephanopoulos would be a commentator like ABC contributor William Kristol, Republican Dan Quayle's former chief of staff. "I view it the same way as Kristol," she said. "He has a point of view, a political persuasion." Bistany also said, "We want a mix of voices," assuring that Stephanopoulos wouldn't "do anything that has any appearance of conflict."

Then came the double cross.

By 1999, Stephanopoulos was a regular contributor on "World News Tonight" and "Good Morning America" and had co-anchored ABC's overnight news program. Still, ABC assured viewers that he'd stay away from partisan political stories. "We're all conscious of the sensitivity with him having been part of the news in Washington," said then-ABC News President David Westin. "We wouldn't have him be the beat reporter on the (Al) Gore campaign." An ABC spokeswoman added, "He will not be the beat reporter assigned to a campaign," although that "does not mean that we won't have him doing more general political stories."

In 2002, Stephanopoulos became host of "This Week," and two years later ABC named him "chief Washington correspondent."

Now comes the news that Stephanopoulos gave $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation but failed to disclose the contribution to his employer and to his viewers. He offered this apology: "Those donations were a matter of public record, but I should have made additional disclosures on-air when we covered the foundation, and I now believe that directing personal donations to that foundation was a mistake. ... I should have gone the extra mile to avoid even the appearance of a conflict. I apologize to all of you for failing to do that."

Stephanopoulos, however, has yet to publicly disclose further ties to the Clinton Foundation. He served several times as a panelist, moderator or "featured attendee" for the foundation. Also, the Washington Free Beacon reports that Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, Robby Mook, once worked as an intern for Stephanopoulos when he briefly taught at Columbia.

Did ABC not see the political documentary "The War Room"? Filmmakers, during the 1992 presidential campaign, followed Bill Clinton's top campaign advisers, James Carville and Stephanopoulos. Both were passionate political operatives. Stephanopoulos, for example, aggressively defended Clinton against charges of infidelity and of lacking "character." Consider this exchange with ABC's Sam Donaldson:

Donaldson: "Now, Gov. Clinton has a character problem, but I take it that your line of counterattack is that it's--"

Stephanopoulos: "Gov. Clinton has no character problem. He's passed his character tests."

Donaldson: "Well, I mean, he has not denied that he has engaged in marital infidelity. He denied a specific one--"

Stephanopoulos: "He has said that he had problems in his marriage."

Donaldson: "That's right. And he has talked about the draft, and to some people it's a character problem."

Stephanopoulos: "Bill Clinton's passed his character test throughout his life and throughout this campaign. ... (The American people) don't want to be diverted by side issues, and they're not going to let the Republican attack machine divert them."

After the '92 election, Stephanopoulos served as White House communications director and senior adviser on policy and strategy. During Clinton's Monica Lewinsky/perjury scandal, a Time magazine cover showed a grim president with his equally grim domestic policy adviser Stephanopoulos. The headline read: "Deep Water: How the President's men tried to hinder the Whitewater investigation."

Stephanopoulos' recent grilling of "Clinton Cash" author Peter Schweizer becomes all the more brazen given Stephanopoulos' own then-undisclosed 75K contribution to the Clinton Foundation. Schweizer's book questions whether donors received favors from then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Stephanopoulos repeatedly asked whether he had "evidence" or any kind of "smoking gun."

Carole Simpson, a former colleague at ABC, was blunt: "There's a coziness that George cannot escape. ... While he did try to separate himself from his political background to become a journalist, he really is not a journalist."

When Stephanopoulos apologized for failing to disclose his contributions, he said he should have avoided "even the appearance of a conflict." Doesn't this standard apply to Clinton Foundation donors and Hillary Clinton's job as secretary of state? Doesn't this standard also apply to ABC and Stephanopoulos' job as news "correspondent" or "anchor"?

Finally, why, during all these years that ABC fraudulently passed off Stephanopoulos as a journalist, did real journalists say nothing?

The Worst Day of Hillary Clinton's Campaign

Stephen F. Hayes, May 19, 2015, Weekly Standard

Hillary Clinton had a very bad day.

In fact, she’s had a series of bad days since she announced her presidential bid April 12. But Monday was the worst of them.

In a bombshell report, the New York Times reported that Clinton, as secretary of state, used her private email to share private intelligence reports from noted conspiracy theorist and political hitman Sidney Blumenthal, at a time when Blumenthal was being paid by the Clinton Foundation and liberal political organizations that helped lay the groundwork for Clinton’s presidential campaign.

The emails included reports on Libya at a time when Blumenthal was seeking business in the country and included dubious information. The Times reported that Clinton nonetheless “took Mr. Blumenthal’s advice seriously” and “continued to pass around his emails even after other senior diplomats concluded that Mr. Blumenthal’s assessments were often unreliable.”

ICYMI: 11 Explosive Clinton Cash Facts Mainstream Media Confirm Are Accurate

By Breitbart News, Apr. 26, 2015

Perhaps the most surprising thing about the forthcoming book rocking Washington right now is the number of stunning facts liberal media outlets have already confirmed and verified are accurate.

Here, then, are 11 facts that mainstream media say are true, verified, and facts from the upcoming blockbuster, Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.

CONFIRMED: Hillary’s Foundation Hid a $2.35 Million Foreign Donation from the Head of the Russian Govt’s Uranium Company that Had Business Before Hillary Clinton’s State Dept.—a Clear Violation of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Obama Administration

The New York Times has confirmed that Hillary Clinton violated the Memorandum of Understanding she signed with the Obama administration promising to disclose all foreign donations during her tenure as Sec. of State.

As Clinton Cash reveals, Ian Telfer, the foreign head of the Russian-owned uranium company, Uranium One, which Hillary Clinton approved to acquire U.S. uranium, made four individual hidden donations to the Clinton Foundation totaling $2.35 million, none of which appear in Clinton Foundation disclosures.

CONFIRMED: Bill Clinton Bagged $500,000 for a Speech in Moscow Paid for by a Kremlin-linked Bank

Schweizer: Stephanopoulos, ABC have Not Fully Disclosed Clinton Ties

By Peter Schweizer, May 18, 2015, USA Today

Fact-driven, fair, aggressive journalism animates American politics. As an investigative journalist, I am accustomed to asking tough questions. When I publish, I expect tough questions in turn,

That's not what ABC News This Week host and chief anchor George Stephanopoulos delivered when he interviewed me about my new book on the Clinton Foundation last month. There's a reason. Though Stephanopoulos belatedly disclosed $75,000 in donations to the foundation, he has yet to disclose his much deeper relationship with the Clinton Foundation.

When Stephanopoulos invited me on his Sunday program, I knew that he had worked as a top adviser and campaign manager to President Bill Clinton in the 1990s, but I didn't know about his donations or his other ties to the foundation founded and overseen by the former president and his wife, potential future president Hillary Clinton.

Geraldo Rivera: ABC Fired Me Over A $200 Donation

By Courtney Coren, May 15, 2015, Newsmax

Geraldo Rivera says that he was fired by ABC because he donated $200, and he wants to know why George Stephanopoulos is being treated so differently by the same network.

"In 1985, after fifteen great years, I was fired by ABC News," Rivera wrote in a post on his Facebook page Friday. "The official reason for my firing was a non-disclosed $200 donation to a family friend running in a non-partisan mayoral campaign in New Bedford, Massachusetts."

However, Rivera, who now works for Fox News, contends that the real reason he was fired was because of an unrelated reason — he "was estranged at the time from my boss Roone Arledge" because he had "complained publicly after Roone spiked a colleague's 20/20 story about the Kennedy brothers' relationship with Marilyn Monroe."

But the reason given for his firing was the "undisclosed $200 donation."

Hillary Clinton personally took money from companies that sought to influence her

By Jonathan Allen, May 16, 2015, Vox.com

Almost a decade ago, as Hillary Clinton ran for re-election to the Senate on her way to seeking the presidency for the first time, the New York Times reported on her unusually close relationship with Corning, Inc., an upstate glass titan. Clinton advanced the company's interests, racking up a big assist by getting China to ease a trade barrier. And the firm's mostly Republican executives opened up their wallets for her campaign.

During Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, Corning lobbied the department on a variety of trade issues, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The company has donated between $100,000 and $250,000 to her family's foundation. And, last July, when it was clear that Clinton would again seek the presidency in 2016, Corning coughed up a $225,500 honorarium for Clinton to speak.

In the laundry-whirl of stories about Clinton buck-raking, it might be easy for that last part to get lost in the wash. But it's the part that matters most. The $225,500 speaking fee didn't go to help disease-stricken kids in an impoverished village on some long-forgotten patch of the planet. Nor did it go to a campaign account. It went to Hillary Clinton. Personally.

Stephanopoulos Caught In Clinton Cash Trap

By Lloyd Grove, May 14, 2015, Daily Beast

The ABC anchor has admitted he donated the money to the Clinton Foundation. Republicans do not want to let the matter die.

ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos, who for 15 years expertly navigated his re-invention from tough Clinton operative to respected television journalist, has finally—and perhaps inevitably—slipped up.

His mistake, by any definition, is a beaut—no doubt prompting a blush of shame and putting the network news division on the defensive.

It turns out that the 54-year-old Stephanopoulos—who served as a top aide in Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign and first White House term before leaving to teach, write an acclaimed memoir and join ABC—failed to disclose to his ABC News bosses $75,000 in contributions he made to the Clinton Foundation.

Worse, he didn’t tell viewers, keeping silent about the potential conflict of interest even as he conducted a contentious interview April 26 on his Sunday panel show,This Week With George Stephanopoulos, with Clinton Foundation critic Peter Schweizer, author of Clinton Cash.

Is George Stephanopoulos The Next Brian Williams?

By Joseph Curl, May 14, 2015, The Washington Times

With word emerging today that ABC News chief anchor George Stephanopoulos gave “$50,001 to $100,000” to the Clinton Foundation, the network will soon face the Brian Williams Quandary — is its top “newsman” trustworthy when delivering news.

Stephanopoulos only disclosed the donations to the nonprofit when asked about them by a reporter from the Free Beacon (choosing to control the story through a statement to friendly liberal outlet, Politico).

In dozens and dozens of stories and interviews on the Clintons, the chief anchor never mentioned his hefty gifts. In fact, he fiercely questioned author Peter Schweizer last month about his book “Clinton Cash,” making unilateral statements that the book was hogwash.

“As you know, the Clinton campaign says you haven’t produced a shred of evidence that there was any official action as secretary that supported the interest of donors,” Stephanopoulos said. “We’ve done investigative work here at ABC News, found no proof of any kind of direct action. And an independent government ethics expert at the Sunlight Foundation Bill Allison wrote this: ‘There’s no smoking gun. No evidence that the changed policy is based on donations to the foundation. No smoking gun.’ Is there a smoking gun?”

Marsha Blackburn Circulating Letter Calling On Irs To Investigate Clinton Foundation Tax Status

By Matthew Boyle, May 13, 2015, Breitbart.com

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) 72% is working on building congressional support for pressure on the IRS to investigate the tax exempt status of the Clinton Foundation, Breitbart News has learned.

A draft copy of a letter from Blackburn—that she’s circulating around Capitol Hill for signatures from her colleagues—to IRS commissioner John Koskinen asks him to review the tax-exempt status of the foundation. Blackburn and her colleagues will write that “recent media reports have revealed that the Foundation failed to report millions of dollars in grants from foreign governments that it accepted while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State and that it facilitated private business transactions between foreign entities” and as such, “given the substantial public interest involved, we feel a prompt review of the Foundation’s tax-exempt status is appropriate to determine whether it is acting within the scope of its charitable mission.”

Technically, Blackburn’s letter notes, the Clinton Foundation is required to file an IRS 990 every year listing foreign contributions. But, she writes, Clinton’s Foundation “failed to report tens of millions of dollars in foreign government grants between 2010 and 2012.” Citing how Clinton’s Foundation officials and Bill Clinton himself admitted they didn’t handle the IRS filings correctly, Blackburn’s letter to the IRS commissioner argues that the Clinton Foundation’s “failure to report the donations is problematic and deserves enhanced scrutiny given Mrs. Clinton’s position as Secretary of State at the time.”

Full Picture Of Clinton Charities' Foreign Government Funding Remains Elusive

By Jonathan Allen, May 10, 2015, Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Clinton Foundation has acknowledged that the government funding totals omitted from their tax returns cannot be found on their website either, despite the foundation's acting chief executive officer earlier suggesting they were available there.

The foreign government funding received by the globe-spanning charities of Hillary Clinton's family has received particular scrutiny in recent weeks as Clinton seeks to become the Democratic nominee in the 2016 presidential election.

The foundation's acknowledgement means precise totals for government grants to the charity for the last three years of Clinton's four-year tenure as secretary of state have still not been publicly disclosed. All U.S. charities have to separately disclose each year how much they get in government funding, both domestic and foreign.

Shortly before taking office in 2009, Clinton promised the Obama administration heightened transparency concerning donors to her family's charities to avoid accusations of conflicts of interests when she became the nation's most senior diplomat. In recent months, the charities have said they did not comply with some parts of the agreement.

Bill Clinton Puts Blame For Family's Scandals On Accountant

Source:  Free Beacon
By Brent Scher, May 7, 2015, Free Beacon

Bill Clinton put the blame for his foundation’s foreign donor scandal on the accountant who filed its taxes in his Monday interview with NBC News.

“There was no attempt to hide [donations],” Clinton said from Kenya. “The guy that filled out the forms made an error. The guy put it on the wrong form … I can’t explain why they didn’t do it—all I can do is fix it.”

In the wake of the scandal surrounding the foundation’s foreign donors, chief executive officer Maura Pally said mistakes were made in tax filings and that multiple years of tax forms will “likely” have to be re-filed after an external review is completed.

It is unclear which accountant is responsible for the errors.

Laura Parello, the managing director of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PWC) exempt organization tax services division, signed off as the “paid preparer” of the foundation’s most recent tax filing.

When asked how the accountant responsible for preparing the Clinton Foundation’s tax filing felt about being blamed by the former president for the current scandal, PWC said it was unable to comment due to company policy.

Bill Clinton Defends His Foundation's Foreign Money

May 4, 2015, NBC News

Bill Clinton says he has no regrets about taking millions in foreign cash for his foundation — even though the donations have caused a political headache for Hillary Clinton as she tries to follow him into the Oval Office.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News' Cynthia McFadden, the former president said his charity has never done anything "knowingly inappropriate."

Under pressure, the foundation recently announced it will only accept contributions from six Western governments going forward, but Clinton says that's no acknowledgment the old policy — under which Saudi Arabia gave between $10 million and $25 million, for instance — was a mistake.

"Absolutely not," Clinton told NBC News during his current tour of Africa to visit a wide variety of the foundation's projects.

"It's an acknowledgement that we're going to come as close as we can during her presidential campaign to following the rules we followed when she became secretary of state."

The 42nd president says he is "proud" of his foundation's work.
