White House Petitioned To Yank Bill Cosby's Presidential Medal Of Freedom

By Paul Bedard July 8, 2015, Washington Examiner

A national sexual assault prevention group is demanding that President Obama revoke Bill Cosby's Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Promoting Awareness--Victim Empowerment, has initiated a petition on Whitehouse.gov to push the administration to take action against the comic who in July 2002 was presented the prestigious award by former President George W. Bush.

"The presidential medal of freedom is the highest honor award to an American civilian," said Angela Rose, executive director of the group. "The list of those receiving this honor include America's finest citizens – from Mother Teresa to Eunice Kennedy Shriver to Meryl Streep. Bill Cosby's name does not belong among this distinguished list."

In newly released court documents, Cosby said he used a drug to have sex with women, reopening a case against him from several former female associates.

Gloria Allred & Mikki Kendall Slam Cosby Over Continued Sexual Assault Allegations

Uprising with Sonali, Jan. 16, 2015

Cosby has refused to speak out directly about the accusations and maintains his innocence through his lawyers. Even if the legal process may be challenging, the issue has seeped into popular culture with Golden Globe hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey referencing it openly during the recent awards show. Cosby did obliquely refer to the issue himself at a stand up show in Ontario, Canada where he joked with a woman in the audience who had gotten up to get a drink, “you have to be careful about drinking around me.”

EXCLUSIVE: Cosby Accuser’s Manager Claims Beverly Johnson And Janice Dickinson LIED

Patrick Howley, Jan. 11, 2015, Daily Caller

“It was odd to me that she changed her story. She said [she was] drugged and raped. I just remember that was not the conversation we had. And we had it repeatedly.”

“It was brunch. It was just one time. It was a typical nice pleasant experience,” Gibble said, echoing Johnson’s oft-repeated accounts. ”It can be easily proven that Camille Cosby was at that brunch, so it was kind of dumb for her to lie.”

Bill Cosby: I Only Expect The 'Black Media' To Be Good Journalists

TMZ Staff, Dec. 14, 2014

Bill reportedly sounded upbeat on the phone ... and said, "Love and the strength of womanhood" when asked how his wife is holding up through all of this.

He added, "Let me say it again, love and the strength of womanhood. And, you could reverse it, the strength of womanhood and love."

Beverly Johnson
www.beverlyjohnson.com
By Beverly Johnson, Dec. 11, 2014, Vanity Fair

Like most Americans, I spent the 60s, 70s, and part of the 80s in awe of Bill Cosby and his total domination of popular culture. He was the first African American to star in a dramatic television series, I Spy, a show my family in Buffalo, New York, always watched. Cosby cut a striking figure on-screen then. He was funny, smart, and even elegant—all those wonderful things many white Americans didn’t associate with people of color. In fact, as I thought of going public with what follows, a voice in my head kept whispering, “Black men have enough enemies out there already, they certainly don’t need someone like you, an African American with a familiar face and a famous name, fanning the flames.”

Imagine my joy in the mid-80s when an agent called to say Bill Cosby wanted me to audition for a role on the The Cosby Show. Cosby played an obstetrician, and he sometimes used models to portray pregnant women sitting in his office waiting room. It was a small part with one or two speaking lines at most, but I wanted in.

I was in the midst of an ugly custody battle for my only child. I needed a big break badly and appearing on The Cosby Show seemed like an excellent way of getting Hollywood’s attention. I’d appeared in one or two movies already, but my phone wasn’t exactly ringing off the hook with acting jobs.

Cosby’s handlers invited me to a taping of the show so I could get the lay of the land and an idea of what my role required. After the taping I met all the cast and then met with Cosby in his office to talk a bit about the hell I’d been through in my marriage. He appeared concerned and then asked what I wanted from my career going forward. He seemed genuinely interested in guiding me to the next level. I was on cloud nine.

Van Jones Asks Rich Lowry: 'Can I Kiss You Here Against Your Will?'

Jeffrey Meyer, Dec. 7, 2014, Newsbusters

On Sunday morning, ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos discussed Rolling Stone's retracted article surrounding an alleged sexual assault and gang rape at the University of Virginia. While the panelists all agreed that Rolling Stone should take a hit for publishing a false story, the discussion got heated over statistics regarding sexual assaults on college campuses.

No Matter What Jackie Said, We Should Generally Believe Rape Claims

Zerlina Maxwell, Dec. 6, 2014, Washington Post

The accused would have a rough period. He might be suspended from his job; friends might defriend him on Facebook. In the case of Bill Cosby, we might have to stop watching his shows, consuming his books or buying tickets to his traveling stand-up routine. But false accusations are exceedingly rare, and errors can be undone by an investigation that clears the accused, especially if it is done quickly.

Bill Cosby Sexual Assault Allegations Are ‘Truly Saddening,’ Hugh Hefner Says

Tim Kenneally, Dec. 6, 2014, The Wrap

“While at the Playboy Mansion, plaintiff told Cosby that she needed to use the bathroom,” Huth's lawsuit reads. “Cosby directed her to a bathroom within a bedroom suite near the game room. When plaintiff emerged from the bathroom, she found Cosby sitting on the bed. He asked her to sit beside him. He then proceeded to sexually molest her by attempting to put his hand down her pants, and then taking her hand in his hand and performing a sex act on himself without her consent.”

Pentagon: Sexual Assault Claims Drop Among Military Women

Rowan Scarborough and Jacqueline Klimas, Dec. 4, 2014, Washington Times

Figures released by the Rand Corp., an independent government-supported research center, estimated that 20,000 men and women in the military’s 1.3 million active force said they were the victims last year of sexual assault — a catchall term that encompasses unwanted sexual contact, or attempts, up to and including rape. Both men and women reported fewer assaults, Rand said.

Cosby's Testimony Describes Accuser's Spiked Story

MaryClaire Dale, Nov. 27, 2014, NBC New York

Bill Cosby testified under oath in 2005 that he gave the National Enquirer an exclusive interview about looming sexual-assault accusations by a Canadian woman against him in exchange for the tabloid spiking a second accuser's story.

Excerpts released Wednesday of Cosby's deposition from a civil lawsuit filed by Andrea Constand quote Cosby as saying he feared the public would believe her sexual-assault accusations if the Enquirer published similar claims by Beth Ferrier. Both women accused Cosby of drugging and molesting them.

How Bill Cosby Allegedly Silenced His Accusers Through A Tabloid Smear Campaign

Marlow Stern, Nov. 21, 2014, The Daily Beast

According to the 2006 complaint filed by Constand against The National Enquirer and Cosby’s attorney, the inimitable Marty Singer, on February 21, 2005, Cosby deigned to grant an exclusive interview to The National Enquirer “knowing it would injure Plaintiff, and to deprive her of her good name, credit and reputation.” In said interview, Cosby allegedly conveyed “either directly or by implication” that Constand “asked Cosby for money” before going to the police, which in Cosby’s eyes, represented a “classic shakedown” attempt. Constand claimed that the accusation was patently false, and demanded $150,000 in damages from the tabloid and attorney.

No Wonder Cosby's Keeping Quiet: He Could Still Be Prosecuted

Jay Michaelson, Nov. 23, 2014, The Daily Beast

First, contrary to some reports, not all of Cosby’s accusers claims are blocked by the statute of limitations. For example, the conduct alleged by Andrea Constand—who sued Cosby in 2005 for assault and battery, and in 2006 for defamation after Cosby’s representatives said she was just trying to extort money—took place in 2004. Pennsylvania, where the assault is alleged to have taken place, has a 12-year statute of limitations on sexual assault.

That means Cosby could still be charged.

Bill Cosby's Lawyers Strong-Armed Tabloid Into Ditching Story On Rape Claims

Ed Pilkington, Nov. 21, 2014, The Guardian

The National Enquirer’s investigation was carried out in 2005, just weeks after it first emerged that Cosby had been accused of drugging and molesting a female friend, Andrea Constand. The tabloid magazine dispatched its senior reporter Robin Mizrahi to look into the story.

Mizrahi made contact with a second woman, Beth Ferrier, who alleged that she too had been drugged and sexually molested by the entertainer. The Enquirer brought Ferrier to Los Angeles from her home in Denver, where she was then working as a model, and Mizrahi interviewed her and arranged for her to undergo a lie detector test.

The Truth In The Bill Cosby Rape Allegations Is 'Obvious,' Says Roseanne Barr

Marianne Garvey, Brian Niemietz, and Oli Coleman, Nov. 21, 2014, New York Daily News

“I don’t wanna get sued or have him (Cosby) send anyone to beat me up, but I think it’s obvious: 13 to 1,” said Barr, a true-crime aficionado whose show “Momsters: When Moms Go Bad” debuts Nov. 28 on Investigation Discovery.

Cosby she said, was always gracious to her.

NewsOne Staff, Nov. 22, 2014

Hill, now a married mother of three living in Pittsburgh, was an aspiring actress and model when, she said, Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her over the course of 4 years and even paid her college tuition.

Two More Women Come Forward with Sexual Assault Allegations Against Cosby

By Josh Feldman, Nov. 20th, 2014, Mediaite.com

Florida woman Therese Serignese and Carla Ferrigno, the wife of actor Lou Ferrigno, have both come out in the past day accusing Bill Cosbyof sexual assault.

Serignese revealed to People Magazine that back in 1976, Cosby offered her a free ticket to a show he did. Then, after the show, she was brought backstage. Cosby gave her a glass of water and two Quaaludes and told her to take them. She explained, “At that point I didn’t know what to do, so I just obeyed. I just did it.”

And this is what Serignese, who was one of the unnamed women in a 2006 lawsuit against Cosby, says happened next:

My next memory is I felt high; I don’t remember what happened in the meantime. Then my next memory is being in that vanity room, by that big mirror, and he didn’t have any clothes on, and obviously I didn’t either by that point. I don’t know how they got off. I don’t have that memory.
She adds that she saw Cosby multiple times after that and was encouraged by her mother to call him. And Serignese “can’t recall how many sexual encounters followed, or whether drugs were involved each time.” She says she stopped seeing Cosby after she mentioned to him she might be pregnant and then “got sent away.”

Audio Of Bill Cosby Joking About Drugging Women Resurfaces

Soraya Nadia McDonald, Nov. 18, 2014, Washington Post

One of the commonalities that’s risen out of sexual abuse allegations by Andrea Constand, Barbara Bowman, Tamara Green and now Joan Tarshis against Bill Cosby is that the comedian and actor was able to sexually assault them because, they say, he drugged them first.

In light of such information, a recently resurfaced bit, first noticed by the Village Voice’s Alan Scherstuhl, about drugging women with Spanish fly from his 1969 album “It’s True! It’s True!” is not doing Cosby any favors. Tarshis alleged that Cosby drugged and raped her the same year.
