Rape Allegation Double Standard: Liberal Elites Turn On Bill Cosby--But Not Bill Clinton

By effrey Lord, July 17, 2015 NewsBusters

Why are the liberal media and other liberal elites turning on the black Bill Cosby - while supporting the white Bill Clinton?

The cries of racist double standards surrounding grand jury decisions in the case of Ferguson’s Michael Brown and Staten Island’s Eric Garner have been loud and clear.  Coupled with movements protesting sexual assault on college campuses and in the American military, both of which have won much publicized support from President Obama, the contrast between the treatment of the black actor/comedian Cosby and the ongoing celebration of the white former President could not be more conspicuous.

Like Cosby, Clinton has been credibly accused of both rape and repeated sexual assaults.  Yet powerful institutions and people in the liberal worlds of entertainment, politics and academia have made a point of cutting ties with Cosby while continuing to honor or even contribute to a project of Clinton’s.

Whoopi Goldberg Changes Her Stance On Bill Cosby Rape Allegations

By Chris Spargo, July 14, 2015 Daily Mail

Whoopi Goldberg has changed her stance on the allegations of rape made against Bill Cosby by over 30 women.

Goldberg, who has been the most vocal supporter of Cosby over the past few months, had legal expert Dan Abrams on The View Tuesday, and began to voice a shift in opinion when she admitted that she was unaware that there is a statute of limitations on charges of rape.

At the end of the segment she said; 'If this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, all the information that is out there kind of points to guilt.'

Two New Bill Cosby Accusers Come Forward--Gloria Allred Promises More On The Way

By The Inquisitr, Feb. 12, 2015

Two new women came forward Thursday accusing Bill Cosby of drugging them, and one alleges the comedian sexually assaulted her. Gloria Allred says she has more accusers who are ready to come forward.

USA Today reports the two women appeared at a Los Angeles press conference on Thursday with civil rights attorney Gloria Allred, who represents six of the nearly three dozen women who are accusing Bill Cosby of drugging them over the past four decades.

Allred asserts that while the 77-year-old comedian may want this scandal to go away, she has more accusers just waiting to come forward.

EXCLUSIVE: Cosby Accuser’s Manager Claims Beverly Johnson And Janice Dickinson LIED

Patrick Howley, Jan. 11, 2015, Daily Caller

“It was odd to me that she changed her story. She said [she was] drugged and raped. I just remember that was not the conversation we had. And we had it repeatedly.”

“It was brunch. It was just one time. It was a typical nice pleasant experience,” Gibble said, echoing Johnson’s oft-repeated accounts. ”It can be easily proven that Camille Cosby was at that brunch, so it was kind of dumb for her to lie.”

Bill Cosby Rape Allegations And 'Black Media Neutrality'

jakewriter, Jan. 5, 2015, KDrama Stars

Bob Butler, NABJ president, said, "all reports relating to the assault claims have been unbiased, and race is not a factor, TMZ reports."You don't go easier on a person [of] color. [It's] wrong for journalism period," he said. "This not a color issue, this is a journalism issue ... black people happen to be reporters."

"I believe reporters have to be neutral and have an open mind when covering a story like this, but being neutral doesn't mean telling one side of the story. Being neutral means telling both sides. And as far as I can see, reporters have been doing that," he said in the Huffington Post report.

By Larry Elder, Dec. 25, 2014

Allred says so many alleged victims have called her office, she's "literally lost count." She says she told these women, however, you're "too late." By this, Allred meant that the statute of limitations has passed for both criminal and civil charges to be filed against Cosby.

Some of the claims date back to the '60s, '70s and '80s, with one going back as far as 1965. Former Playboy bunny P.J. Masten claims that Cosby raped her in 1979. The comedian, says Masten, invited her to dinner, asking her to meet him at his hotel room where he gave her a cocktail of Grand Marnier. "The next thing I knew, it was 4 o'clock in the morning," Masten alleged. "I woke up in a bed naked, bruised. He was laying next to me, and I slithered out of the bed ... I got myself together, I went downstairs, I got in a cab, and I went home. ... There were bruise marks all over me. I knew I was raped."

Cosby's wife, Camille, broke weeks of silence with the following statement: "I met my husband, Bill Cosby, in 1963, and we were married in 1964. The man I met and fell in love with, and whom I continue to love, is the man you all knew through his work. He is a kind man, a generous man, a funny man, and a wonderful husband, father and friend. He is the man you thought you knew."

And recently The Daily Caller said several of the Cosby accusers have checkered backgrounds or their stories are of questionable veracity: "A number of women who have accused comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault either have factual contradictions in their accounts or have personal histories that cast doubt on their claims, The Daily Caller has learned.

Cosby, through his wife and others, claims his innocence. Allred, at a press conference, said that she's found a way for Cosby to vindicate himself: "Mr. Cosby could agree that there would be one lawsuit for all those who had been previously barred by the statute of limitations. Then he could litigate all of the cases at the same time. Everyone who had claims of sexual assault by Mr. Cosby could join, and there would be an opportunity for Mr. Cosby to defend himself.

"Alternately, if Mr. Cosby doesn't want to waive the statute of limitations because he is not willing to subject himself to scrutiny in a court of law, he should agree to place $100 million into a fund and anyone who claims she was a victim could appear before a panel of retired judges who would serve as arbitrators to determine the merits of each claim and the amount of compensation that would be appropriate if the claim has merit. ... Victims could present their cases and Bill Cosby could make his arguments in defense to the retired judges. The judges would then decide. It is time for justice and accountability."

Allred prides herself on "standing up for women."

When, however, another alleged victim of sexual battery, Kathleen Willey, sought her help, she says Allred turned her back on her. Willey, a former White House volunteer and self-described "good friend" of then-president Bill Clinton, appeared on "60 Minutes" and accused Clinton of sexually battery.

Willey said she went to ask Clinton for a paid job or any other aid he could offer. "I just told him that my husband was in financial difficulty and that things were at a crisis point," said Willey, "and that my volunteer days were over, that I needed a regular paying job and could he help me." But in a small room just off the Oval Office, she says, Clinton hugged and kissed her. When she tried to push him away, "he touched my breasts with his hand ... and then he whispered ... 'I've wanted to do this ever since I laid eyes on you.' ... He took my hand, and he put it ... on his genitals." Finally, says Willey, she managed to push him away.

Willie says she phoned Gloria Allred's law office twice, left her name and number, and never heard back.

Juanita Broaddrick, a former operator of nursing homes, claims that in 1978 gubernatorial candidate Bill Clinton, then Arkansas attorney general, raped her. Furthermore, she claims that two weeks following the assault, Hillary Clinton verbally intimidated her.

Will Allred offer the Cosby deal to the Clintons, more specifically to Hillary, the woman who would become president? Verbally intimidating an alleged rape victim two weeks after the rape is not exactly presidential resume-building material. Hillary deserves an opportunity to "defend herself" and clear her name.

If it's a good enough deal for Bill Cosby, it ought to be good enough for Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Barry One's Attorney Calls for Dunham To Break Silence

John Nolte, Dec. 9, 2014, Breitbart

Lena Dunham apparently wants us to believe this was all some kind of crazy coincidence. Yes, the real Barry One was a prominent Oberlin Republican who worked at one of the school libraries during Dunham's time there. But when she described her alleged rapist as a prominent Oberlin Republican named Barry who worked at the school library, she didn't mean him.

Random House Goes For Quick Payoff, Clears 'Barry One'

By John Nolte, Dec. 8, 2014, Breitbart.com

After two months of requests made through his attorney, the man Breitbart News identified as "Barry One" in an investigative report published last week has, at least, been exonerated by Lena Dunham's publisher, Random House. The publishing giant didn't apologize. Nor did Lena Dunham. Regrets were expressed over "the confusion."

In a statement released Monday to The Wrap that raises many more questions than it answers, Random House finally admits: “The name ‘Barry’ referenced in the book is a pseudonym. Random House, on our own behalf and on behalf of our author, regrets the confusion.”

“As indicated on the copyright page of Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham, some names and identifying details in the book have been changed. The name ‘Barry’ referenced in the book is a pseudonym,” the publisher told TheWrap exclusively. “Random House, on our own behalf and on behalf of our author, regrets the confusion that has led attorney Aaron Minc to post on GoFundMe on behalf of his client, whose first name is Barry.”

“We are offering to pay the fees Mr. Minc has billed his client to date,” the company continued. “Our offer will allow Mr. Minc and his client to donate all of the crowd-funding raised to not-for-profit organizations assisting survivors of rape and sexual assault.”

Lena Dunham's Publisher Addresses Breitbart Report With Clarification of ‘Barry One’ Rape Allegations (Exclusive)

By Tony Maglio, Dec. 8, 2014, Thewrap.com

Random House tells TheWrap: “The name ‘Barry’ referenced in the book is a pseudonym. Random House, on our own behalf and on behalf of our author, regrets the confusion”

Lena Dunham‘s publisher has responded to a story on conservative blog Breitbart News which questioned the validity of rape allegations in the actress’ memoir, as well as her silence since coming forward with the sexual assault claims. The detailed report on Breitbart also called into question Dunham possibly misidentifying the man who she calls “Barry” in the book.

“As indicated on the copyright page of ‘Not That Kind of Girl’ by Lena Dunham, some names and identifying details in the book have been changed.

Breaking: 'Barry One' Launches Legal Fund; Considers Suit Against Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham
By John Nolte, Dec. 6, 2014, Breitbart.com

The man identified as "Barry One" in a Breitbart News investigation debunking Lena Dunham's story of being raped in college by a "mustachioed campus Republican" named Barry, has made his first official statement since the release of that report. Through his attorney, identified as Aaron Minc, Barry One has set up a legal fund to cover current legal expenses, clear his name, and to potentially file suit against Ms. Dunham.

The proceeds from the legal fund will be used only to cover Barry One's legal expenses. If there are any leftover monies, those will be donated to non-profit organizations that aid sexual assault victims.

For more than two months, and to no avail, Barry One has asked Dunham (through her representatives) to clear his name. Obviously, she has refused.

No Matter What Jackie Said, We Should Generally Believe Rape Claims

Zerlina Maxwell, Dec. 6, 2014, Washington Post

The accused would have a rough period. He might be suspended from his job; friends might defriend him on Facebook. In the case of Bill Cosby, we might have to stop watching his shows, consuming his books or buying tickets to his traveling stand-up routine. But false accusations are exceedingly rare, and errors can be undone by an investigation that clears the accused, especially if it is done quickly.

Cosby's Testimony Describes Accuser's Spiked Story

MaryClaire Dale, Nov. 27, 2014, NBC New York

Bill Cosby testified under oath in 2005 that he gave the National Enquirer an exclusive interview about looming sexual-assault accusations by a Canadian woman against him in exchange for the tabloid spiking a second accuser's story.

Excerpts released Wednesday of Cosby's deposition from a civil lawsuit filed by Andrea Constand quote Cosby as saying he feared the public would believe her sexual-assault accusations if the Enquirer published similar claims by Beth Ferrier. Both women accused Cosby of drugging and molesting them.

How Bill Cosby Allegedly Silenced His Accusers Through A Tabloid Smear Campaign

Marlow Stern, Nov. 21, 2014, The Daily Beast

According to the 2006 complaint filed by Constand against The National Enquirer and Cosby’s attorney, the inimitable Marty Singer, on February 21, 2005, Cosby deigned to grant an exclusive interview to The National Enquirer “knowing it would injure Plaintiff, and to deprive her of her good name, credit and reputation.” In said interview, Cosby allegedly conveyed “either directly or by implication” that Constand “asked Cosby for money” before going to the police, which in Cosby’s eyes, represented a “classic shakedown” attempt. Constand claimed that the accusation was patently false, and demanded $150,000 in damages from the tabloid and attorney.
