LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Three more women accused comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault on Wednesday, providing detailed allegations of abuse they said the veteran television star subjected them to decades ago.

Colleen Hughes and Linda Ridgeway Whitedeer said Cosby, 78, had sexually assaulted them in the early 1970s, while Eden Tirl said he sexually harassed her on "The Cosby Show" set in 1989.

The women were speaking at a press conference hosted by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, who represents 21 of the more than 40 women who have come forward in the past year accusing Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them.

New York Magazine interviewed and profiled 35 of Cosby's accusers in a July cover story that featured an empty chair next to the rows of women. The chair sparked questions on how many more women may have similar allegations against the comedian.

Ridgeway Whitedeer said Cosby forced her into a sex act in 1971 when she met him for an interview on a movie set. At the time, she said, she was an aspiring actress and had been married for a while to a television agent who also worked for the comedian.

The black-and-white photograph of the women seated in similar poses appears on the July 27 issue. The headline reads, "Cosby: The Women. An unwelcome sisterhood."

Cosby, who has not been charged with any crime, has repeatedly denied the accusations.

But they gained traction in recent weeks when a deposition from 2005 surfaced in which he admitted to obtaining Quaaludes in the 1970s with the intention of drugging women so he could have sex with them. He never admitted actually giving the drug to the women, however.

New York Magazine's website crashed Monday morning for at least six hours and remained down.

The issue has interviews with each of the accusers, who described the alleged incidents in harrowing detail, including their difficulties in getting people to support them.

One of the women, PJ. Masten, tells the magazine that a friend advised her, "You do know that's [Hugh] Hefner's best friend, right? Nobody's going to believe you. I suggest you shut your mouth."

(NEWSER) – A civil suit against Bill Cosby is now all systems go after California's Supreme Court rejected the comedian's request to review the case, NBC News reports. What this means in the short term: the lawyer for the woman who's suing Cosby for allegedly sexually assaulting her in the Playboy Mansion in 1974 wants to grill him. "We are looking forward to Mr. Cosby answering questions under oath at his deposition and we will continue to seek justice for our courageous client, Judy Huth," Gloria Allred said yesterday, per NBC. Allred says the Supreme Court's decision was "a huge, huge victory" for Huth and added that she hoped to get Cosby in a room for questioning within 30 days, CNN reports. And if Cosby hems and haws about availability? "We are willing to even go to Massachusetts where allegedly he resides and take [the deposition]," Allred said, per CBS Los Angeles.

Why are the liberal media and other liberal elites turning on the black Bill Cosby - while supporting the white Bill Clinton? 

The cries of racist double standards surrounding grand jury decisions in the case of Ferguson’s Michael Brown and Staten Island’s Eric Garner have been loud and clear.  Coupled with movements protesting sexual assault on college campuses and in the American military, both of which have won much publicized support from President Obama, the contrast between the treatment of the black actor/comedian Cosby and the ongoing celebration of the white former President could not be more conspicuous.

Like Cosby, Clinton has been credibly accused of both rape and repeated sexual assaults.  Yet powerful institutions and people in the liberal worlds of entertainment, politics and academia have made a point of cutting ties with Cosby while continuing to honor or even contribute to a project of Clinton’s.
