Conservatives Blast NBC for Firing Donald Trump While Keeping Al Sharpton

By Kathy Zerbib, Jun. 30, 2015, The Wrap

“I’m calling on NBC to fire Al Sharpton, whose words & actions for decades have been hateful & demeaning,” Mark Levin tweeted

Conservatives took to social media to blast NBC for a perceived double standard in cutting ties with Donald Trump Monday for his comments about Mexican immigrants while keeping Al Sharpton despite the pastor-turned-MSNBC host’s numerous controversial remarks over the years.

Fox News mainstays like Greta van Susteren and Brit Hume joined Right-leaning radio hosts such as Neal Boortz, Larry Elder and Jason Mattera in questioning the network’s dumping of Trump while keeping Sharpton in place.

Trump Dumped! Univision Drops Miss USA Pageant Over Mexican Immigrant Remarks

By Tony Maglio, Jun. 25, 2015, The Wrap

“We will not be … working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization,” company tells TheWrap

(Updated at 3.50 p.m. PT. Co-host Rosalyn Sanchez has also pulled out of the pageant over Trump’s speech. “Although I am not Mexican, I am Puerto Rican and a proud Latina, and his comments were an insult to our culture. I won’t sponsor anything produced by Donald Trump,” she said.)

Univision has elected to end its business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization due to part-owner Donald Trump’s “recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants,” the company told TheWrap on Thursday via a statement.

The broadcaster “will not be … working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization,” the entertainment group continued — that includes no longer airing the July 12 Miss USA pageant as planned.

“At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country,” the company concluded.

Jay Z Under Fire by Black Scholar for ‘Pulling Out the Race Card’ in Tidal Debate

By Anita Bennett, May 21, 2105, The Wrap

Dr. Boyce D. Watkins tells TheWrap he takes issue with music mogul “invoking the names of Freddie Gray, Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown” in freestyle rap

Jay Z’s got 99 problems and his freestyle is one.

On Saturday at his closely-watched “B-sides” concert — which ran exclusively on the hip-hop mogul’s music streaming service Tidal — Jay Z responded to critics with a sharply-worded freestyle rap. During one verse, he connected Tidal’s troubles with the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown and Freddie Gray — unarmed African-American men whose tragic deaths made international headlines.

“You know when I work, I ain’t your slave, right? You know I ain’t shucking and jiving and high-fiving, and you know this ain’t back in the days, right? Well I can’t tell how the way they killed Freddie Gray, right? Shot down Mike Brown how they did Tray, right?” the rap legend said.

Lena Dunham's Publisher Addresses Breitbart Report With Clarification of ‘Barry One’ Rape Allegations (Exclusive)

By Tony Maglio, Dec. 8, 2014, Thewrap.com

Random House tells TheWrap: “The name ‘Barry’ referenced in the book is a pseudonym. Random House, on our own behalf and on behalf of our author, regrets the confusion”

Lena Dunham‘s publisher has responded to a story on conservative blog Breitbart News which questioned the validity of rape allegations in the actress’ memoir, as well as her silence since coming forward with the sexual assault claims. The detailed report on Breitbart also called into question Dunham possibly misidentifying the man who she calls “Barry” in the book.

“As indicated on the copyright page of ‘Not That Kind of Girl’ by Lena Dunham, some names and identifying details in the book have been changed. The name ‘Barry’ referenced in the book is a pseudonym,” the publisher told TheWrap exclusively. “Random House, on our own behalf and on behalf of our author, regrets the confusion that has led attorney Aaron Minc to post on GoFundMe on behalf of his client, whose first name is Barry.”
