Obama's Illegal Immigration Prevention Spending In Central America Backfires, Entices Migrants

By Stephen Dinan, July 29, 2015 Washington Times

The U.S. government paid for a classroom full of computers in El Salvador, but the Salvadoran government never bothered to hire a teacher, investigators said Wednesday — one of a series of bungles in the Obama administration’s plan to flood Central America with U.S. money to try to stem another surge of illegal immigration.

In an expansive report on last summer’s surge, the Government Accountability Office said confusing and lenient U.S. policies pushed illegal immigrants to make the crossing, and even cited administration officials who said President Obama’s 2012 deportation amnesty for so-called Dreamers did entice some of the surge.

Liberal Study Unintentionally Reveals Nationwide Illegal Alien Crime Spree

By Julia Hahn, July 23, 2015 Breitbart

A report issued by the liberal Migration Policy Institute (MPI) further shreds Chuck Todd’s assertion on NBC’s “Meet The Press” last Sunday that he and his staff, “couldn’t find a single study that links violent crime and immigration.”

Tucked inside a report about President Obama’s new amnesty is the estimation from this liberal think tank there are 820,000 illegal aliens in the United States with criminal convictions, including 690,000 illegal aliens currently residing on U.S. soil who have been convicted of a felony or “serious” misdemeanor.

The 820,000 figure is not an estimation of total crimes committed by illegal immigrants—which would be a much higher number—but only those illegal aliens successfully identified, arrested, tried, and convicted.

Combined with other statistical data points, however, the 820,000 figure gives us a way to examine the scope of total illegal alien crime. Even conservative assumptions produce harrowing conclusions, and demonstrate that there are likely millions of American victims of illegal alien predators.

Disgrace: DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson Has No Idea Who Kate Steinle Is

By Katie Pavlich, July 14, 2015 Red Alert Politics

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson testified on Capitol Hill today about a series of ongoing immigration, illegal immigration and security issues. When asked about whether the Obama administration had reached out to the family of Kate Steinle, the 32-year-old woman who was killed in San Francisco two weeks ago by an illegal alien who had been deported five times, Johnson had no idea who she was.

"Has the administration reached out to the Steinle family, to your knowledge?" Rep. Steve Chabot asked Johnson.

"To who?" Johnson replied.

"To the family of the woman who brutally murdered by this individual who had committed seven different felonies in four different states and to my understanding had been deported, kept coming back, has the administration reached out to that family?" Chabot asked again.

"A Host Of Other GOP Backers Heaped Their Ire On Trump"

By Bob Christie, July 11, 2015 My Way News

PHOENIX (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is drawing larger crowds as he continues to criticize immigration policies in stark language that has revealed a deep divide between immigration hawks and moderates who are trying to avoid alienating Hispanic voters.

On Saturday, Trump was scheduled to campaign in Nevada and then in Arizona, a hub of immigrant and drug smuggling where the real estate developer and reality TV star has developed a large following. A rally in Phoenix was first planned at a posh resort that could handle about 1,000 guests, but organizers moved it to the city's convention center.

Trump's descriptions of Mexican immigrants bringing drugs and crime to the U.S. and being rapists have been roundly denounced as offensive. But his message about the broken border has resonated with many in the GOP, especially after an immigrant who was deported multiple times was accused of killing a woman on a San Francisco pier.

Donald Trump Just Gave An Amazingly Surreal Speech In Las Vegas

By Maxwell Tani, July 10, 2015 Business Insider

Donald Trump just gave one of the most bizarrely captivating speeches of his several-weeks-old campaign.

Standing in front of an animated screen in Las Vegas on Saturday, Trump spoke passionately for almost a half an hour, hitting some of his main talking points: President Barack Obama's weakness, a 'porous' southern border, his business successes, and even Benghazi.

It was one of two similarly themed speeches in the day. Later, he spoke before a crowd of what his campaign said was more than 15,000 in Phoenix.

Companies, Countries Cutting Business Ties With Donald Trump

July 7, 2015, AP The Big Story

NEW YORK (AP) — Real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in his campaign kickoff speech that some Mexican immigrants to the U.S. bring drugs and crime, and some are rapists. He has been widely criticized for his June 16 statement, but he has refused to apologize and instead repeated his views.

A host of organizations and countries are re-examining or severing their relationships with Trump and businesses connected to him, and their ranks are growing.

July 7

In the wake of Macy's decision to stop carrying Trump menswear, clothing company PVH Corp. says it's winding down its licensing deal with Trump, which was scheduled to run through 2018.

The PGA of America says it is moving its Grand Slam of Golf from Trump's Los Angeles course. The PGA of America says the move was made by mutual agreement with Trump.

Mexico Deports More Central Americans Than The United States

By Associated Press, Jun. 18, 2015

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Mexico now deports more Central American migrants than the United States, a dramatic shift since the U.S. asked Mexico for help a year ago with a spike in illegal migration, especially among unaccompanied minors.

Between October and April, Mexico apprehended 92,889 Central Americans. In the same time period, the United States detained 70,226 "other than Mexican" migrants, the vast majority from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

That was a huge reversal from the same period a year earlier, when the wave of migrants and unaccompanied minors from Central America was building. From October 2013 to April 2014, the United States apprehended 159,103 "other than Mexicans," three times the 49,893 Central Americans detained by Mexico.

Katie Pavlich: ICE Director Says No One Fired For Releasing More Than 65,000 Criminal Aliens

By Twitchy Staff, Jun. 17, 2015, Twitchy.com

As Twitchy reported earlier today, testimony from a House Oversight hearing on a massive security compromise of federal computer systems led a number of people to ask just what it would take for a federal employee to be fired, or at the very least shamed into resigning. Office of Personnel Management director Katherine Archuleta was reportedly offered chances to apologize and resign but “declined to do either.”

This afternoon, House subcommittees on national security and on health care, benefits, and administrative rules met to discuss President Obama’s 2014 executive actions on immigration, which allowed illegal aliens to apply for deferred action status, which protected them from deportation and authorized them to work legally in the United States. Those aliens would then be eligible to obtain Social Security numbers and other government benefits.

Among those to testify was U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Sarah Saldaña, and Townhall editor Katie Pavlich also makes the case that it’s high time for some high-level government firings.

Sheriff Joe: Democrats Using Illegals For Votes

WND Exclusive, Jun. 7, 2015

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Sunday Democrats are mostly interested in immigration reform because the newly legalized residents will eventually obtain voting rights and will vote for Democrats.

“That’s common sense,” said Arpaio. “I don’t think that’s something that nobody knows. You make them here legally so they can vote.”

Arpaio was speaking on “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and Philadelphia’s NewsTalk 990 AM.

“There’s a push afoot nationally to sign up more Hispanics to be able to vote,” said Arpaio. “But you have to be careful now. But if you legalize these guys, these people, they are going to vote.”

CNN Poll: Americans Lack Faith In Obama On Illegal Immigration, ISIS, Government Surveillance

By Charlie Spiering, Jun. 3, 2015, Breitbart

President Obama’s polling numbers are extremely low on hot political issues such as illegal immigration, the fight against Islamic State terrorism and government surveillance.

In a CNN poll published today, only 36 percent approve of Obama’s actions on illegal immigration, 32 percent support his fight against ISIS, and 29 percent support his positions on government surveillance.

Obama’s approval ratings on illegal immigration are down four points from February, as his executive actions have bogged down in the courts. His ratings on fighting ISIS are down eight points from February 2015.

Obama Is Suspending the Law Designed to Deter Illegal Immigration

By Ian Smith, May 29, 2015, National Review

A key part of the Fifth Circuit’s decision to keep the freeze on President Obama’s amnesty programs was the 25-page dissenting opinion written by the panel’s lone Obama appointee. Not only does it point to how the bloc-voting liberal justices of the Supreme Court will ultimately treat the case, it almost wholly focuses on the threshold issue of “prosecutorial discretion”: an executive-branch power that, if expanded to include mass grants of amnesty, would remove the last vestige of authority that Congress and the courts have in preventing immigration anarchy at our nation’s southern border.

The “essential point of disagreement” that Judge Stephen Higginson had with Judge Hanen’s lower-court opinion has to do with the characterization of the president’s amnesty programs. How DAPA and DACA are categorized is crucial for both sides. Obama’s attorneys contend that the programs are mere exercises of “prosecutorial discretion” on the part of the president.

Coulter: Jorge Ramos Can Stay, But Matt Lauer Has To Go

By Ann Coulter, May 28, 2015, WND

I finally found a Mexican willing to do a job no American will do! I have an explosive book on the No. 1 issue in the country coming out next week, I’ve already written 10 New York Times best-sellers – I’d be on a postage stamp if I were a liberal – but can’t get an interview on ABC, NBC or CBS.

Only Mexican-born Jorge Ramos would interview me on his Fusion network. Yay, Jorge!

After a spellbinding interview, Ramos ended by asking this excellent question – which I had suggested myself for all authors, most of whom write very boring books, harming the marketability of my own books: “Is there anything in your book that isn’t already generally known?”

My soon-to-be-released book, “Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole,” is jam-packed with facts you didn’t already know. Don’t even think of using it as a coaster, like those other books.

These are just a few:

Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 Immigration Act was expressly designed to change the demographics of our country to be poorer and more inclined to vote Democratic.

It worked! Post-1970 immigrants vote 8-2 for the Democrats.
Citing this dramatic shift in the Democratic Party’s fortunes, Democratic consultant Patrick Reddy called the 1965 Immigration Act “the Kennedy family’s greatest gift to the Democratic Party.”

When It Comes to Dealing With Illegal Immigration, The U.S. And Britain Couldn’t Be More Different

By Fred Lucas, May 23, 2015, The Blaze

LONDON — Nick Evlogimenos came from Greece to Britain three years ago and now wants to see limits on both illegal and legal immigration into the country he now calls home.

“I understand the agony some people face but from my point of view, whoever wants to make a living in a country that is not his own should prove he can provide for that country by being productive,” Evlomenos told TheBlaze.

Fresh off his Conservative party’s reelection victory this month, British Prime Minister David Cameron proposed a sweeping crackdown on illegal immigrants and employers who hire them that would allow confiscating illegals’ paychecks and cutting government benefits for legal immigrants. The announcement came after reports that net immigration into Britain in 2014 reached a near record at 318,000, an increase of more than 100,000 from the previous year.

Seeking Hispanic vote, Hillary Clinton defends illegal immigrants

By Ivan Couronne, May 9, 2015, News.Yahoo.com

Washington (AFP) - The 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States don't vote, but they have children, siblings or cousins who do, and Hillary Clinton is courting their support.

The Democratic presidential candidate has singled out immigration as a key campaign issue in her bid for the White House in 2016.

She is looking to set herself apart from her Republican rivals on the matter, and has even said she wants to go further than President Barack Obama to secure legal status, and citizenship, for millions of undocumented immigrants, most of whom are Hispanic.

The move is a strategic one: securing the Hispanic vote could be what Clinton -- or any candidate -- needs to become president in the next election.

Voters Think Pathway to Citizenship Will Lead to More Illegal Immigration

May 9, 2015, Rasmussen Reports

Voters continue to believe that securing the border is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers already here and think plans to offer legal status to such individuals will just encourage more illegal immigration.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 78% of Likely U.S. Voters consider illegal immigration at least a somewhat serious problem in America today. Just 21% don’t think it’s a serious problem. This includes 47% who believe illegal immigration is a Very Serious problem and six percent (6%) who say it’s Not At All Serious. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Sixty-one percent (61%) think gaining control of the border is more important than legalizing the status of undocumented workers already living in the United States. That’s up just one point from August, but it’s the highest level of support in three years. Thirty-three percent (33%) believe it’s more important to legalize those already living here, the lowest finding in two years.

In fact, 54% believe providing a pathway to citizenship for those currently in the country illegally will just encourage more illegal immigration. Just 29% disagree, but 17% are not sure.

Last August, 56% said the policies and practices of the federal government encourage people to enter the United States illegally, the highest level of cynicism since June 2012. Nearly half of voters want Congress to stop President Obama’s new plan to protect up to five million illegal immigrants from deportation.

(Want a free daily e-mail update? If it's in the news, it's in our polls). Rasmussen Reports updates are also available on Twitter or Facebook.

The survey of 800 Likely Voters was conducted on January 9-10, 2015 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

LAPD Officer Indicted In Alleged Bid To Smuggle Mexican Citizen Into U.S.

By Veronica Rocha, May 6, 2015, Latimes.com

A Los Angeles police officer and his girlfriend were indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday for allegedly trying to smuggle a Mexican citizen hidden in the trunk of a car into the United States, officials said.

LAPD Officer Carlos Curiel Quezada Jr., 34, and his girlfriend, Angelica Godinez, 31, both of Los Angeles are each charged with one count of bringing an undocumented immigrant without presentation, according to the U.S. District Court indictment.

The offense carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and carries a $250,000 fine.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Carlos Curiel Quezada Jr. was arrested by federal authorities on suspicion of smuggling a man across the U.S.-Mexico border, according to authorities.

The indictment alleges that Quezada, a 10-year LAPD veteran, and Godinez were stopped about 6:30 p.m. on March 14 as they drove through the Otay Mesa border crossing in San Diego.

At the border, the couple showed their U.S. passports and said they were headed to Mission Hills.

They told a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer that they had nothing to declare, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in San Diego.

The Hidden Divide At The Heart Of The GOP's Immigration Fight

By James Ante III, Apr. 27, 2015

With a few words to Glenn Beck last week, Scott Walker busted open the conservative debate on immigration.

The Wisconsin governor and possible presidential candidate called for a "legal immigration system that's based, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages." His remarks were widely circulated by Breitbart's doggedly anti-amnesty reporter Matthew Boyle. Then the internet exploded, with some of thestrongest negative reactions coming from my fellow conservatives.

Note that Walker, whose position on whether he would offer legal status to illegal immigrants is famously murky, stops short of actually calling for a lower level of legal immigration. But he does invoke Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, the most prominent Republican who is calling for curbing immigration.

The political ramifications of Walker's comments are unclear. He appeared to cut against things he's said about immigration in the past, and certainly contradicted the preferences of major Republican donors, including the otherwise Walker-friendly Koch brothers. But Walker's concern about immigration and wages comes as polls for the first time show him losing his grip on conservatives to candidates who are theoretically vulnerable on immigration.
