Top Clinton Aide Accused Of Receiving Overpayments At State Department

By Tom Hamburger, Rosalind S. Helderman and Carol D. Leonnig, July 31, 2015 Washington Post

State Department investigators concluded this year that Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s closest aides, was overpaid by nearly $10,000 because of violations of rules governing vacation and sick leave during her tenure as an official in the department.

The finding — which Abedin has formally contested — emerged publicly Friday after Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) sent letters to Secretary of State John F. Kerry and others seeking more information about an investigation into possible “criminal” conduct by Abedin concerning her pay.

The letters also sought the status of an inquiry into whether Abedin had violated conflict-of-interest laws related to her special employment situation, which allowed her to work simultaneously for the State Department, the Clinton Foundation and a private firm with close ties to the Clintons.

Criminal Inquiry Is Sought In Clinton Email Account

By Michael S. Schmidt and Matt Apuzzo,
July 24, 2015
CNBC

WASHINGTON — Two inspectors general have asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into whether sensitive government information was mishandled in connection with the personal email account Hillary Rodham Clinton used as secretary of state, senior government officials said Thursday.

The request follows an assessment in a June 29 memo by the inspectors general for the State Department and the intelligence agencies that Mrs. Clinton's private account contained "hundreds of potentially classified emails." The memo was written to Patrick F. Kennedy, the under secretary of state for management.
It is not clear if any of the information in the emails was marked as classified by the State Department when Mrs. Clinton sent or received them.

Clinton Says Confederate Flag Has No Place In US

By Ken Thomas, Jun. 23, 2015, Associated Press

FLORISSANT, Mo. (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday the Confederate battle flag should not be displayed "anywhere," weighing in as South Carolina lawmakers seek to remove it from the grounds of their statehouse.

The Democratic presidential candidate called the deadly shootings of nine black church members in Charleston, South Carolina, "an act of racist terrorism perpetrated in a house of God."

Clinton called the Confederate flag a "symbol of our nation's racist past that has no place in our present or our future. It shouldn't fly there. It shouldn't fly anywhere."

Clinton joined with church members in the St. Louis suburbs, near the violent protests touched off last year in nearby Ferguson after the death of Michael Brown, an unarmed young black man who was shot by a white police officer.

Clinton said she appreciated the work of South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a Republican, and state lawmakers who are working to remove the Confederate flag from the statehouse grounds. She also commended Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the Arkansas-based company on whose board she once served, for announcing it would remove any product from its stores that features the Confederate flag.

Abc Faces Credibility Crisis Over Stephanopoulos Donations

By David Bauder, May 15, 2015, Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) -- George Stephanopoulos apologized to viewers Friday for donating $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation and failing to disclose it earlier, as ABC News now finds its chief anchor in a credibility crisis on the eve of a presidential campaign.

Stephanopoulos said on "Good Morning America" that the donations, made in three increments to the foundation started by his one-time boss, former President Bill Clinton, were a mistake.

"I should have gone the extra mile to avoid even the appearance of a conflict," the "GMA" and "This Week" host said. "I apologize to all of you for failing to do that."

Stephanopoulos rose to the top ranks at ABC over 18 years and worked to establish himself as an independent journalist despite skepticism by some in politics because of his background as a top aide to Clinton's 1992 campaign and later in the White House. The donations brought that issue back to the fore just as Hillary Rodham Clinton is launching her presidential campaign.

ABC News President James Goldston has not addressed whether Stephanopoulos will be disciplined. The network said in a statement Thursday that it stands behind Stephanopoulos and that the anchor made an honest mistake. ABC said Stephanopoulos voluntarily removed himself as a moderator for ABC's planned coverage of a GOP presidential debate next February.

MSNBC Host’s Rant on Sexism Against Hillary Conveniently Leaves Out 3 Other Female Names

By Victoria Taft, Mar. 30, 2015, IJReview.com

MSNBC host Touré says Hillary Clinton is subjected to thinly veiled sexist coverage by reporters. He made the claim in a discussion on MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” about the story of Clinton backers threatening reporters who use words they deem offensive.

  • Among the words the group wants banned are:
  • Ambitious
  • Calculating
  • Disingenuous
  • Entitled
  • Insincere
  • Out of Touch
  • Over Confident
  • Polarizing
  • Represent the Past
  • Secretive
  • Will Do Anything to Win
The word ‘shrill’ didn’t make the cut, but Touré thinks it should have, according to Breitbart:
“[T]here is this sort of sexist, coded language that we’ve talked about. We had somebody on ‘the Cycle,’ I think when you were on, where somebody referred to Hillary as ‘shrill,’ right?
And we all understood that as one of these code words that people use against women that they’d never use against men…we do have to be careful about the way we talk about female politicians and not sort [use] those code words to say ‘hey, remember she’s a woman.’”

Dems Anxious Over Hillary Clinton As Clinton Foundation Scandal Grows

By Wynton Hall, Mar. 19, 2015, Breitbart.com

Growing Democratic anxieties over a possible Hillary Clinton presidential candidacy received a jolt on Thursday, as Reuters revealed Hillary and Bill Clinton broke the disclosure rules they agreed to with the Obama administration by failing to disclose Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) donors since 2010.

As Reuters notes, CHAI is the Clinton Foundation’s “flagship health program, which spends more than all of the other foundation initiatives put together.”

The Reuters revelation comes on the heels of Hillary Clinton’s roundly criticized explanations for why she evaded records laws by using a personal email address and had a secret server housed in her Chappaqua home.

The confluence of the Clinton Foundation foreign donations scandal, the secret email and server scandal, and the breach of disclosure agreements have coalesced into a dramatic 15 percent drop in Democratic voter support for Hillary Clinton since February. Indeed, even46 percent of Democrats now say there should be an independent investigation of all of Clinton’s emails to see whether any of the nearly 32,000 emails she deleted contained information germane to her official business as Secretary of State.

Hillary Clinton Is Turning Into Richard Nixon and Bill Belichick

By Matt Tabbi, Mar. 14, 2015, RollingStone.com

Raymond Chandler once wrote a great passage about drug addicts, but he might as well have been describing politicians, another group of people who rarely know when to quit without intervention.

The novelist said addicts at first turn to pills and shots just to get over the humps. Only after a while, he wrote, "It gets to be all humps."

It's gotten to be all humps for Hillary Clinton. She never really has an audience anymore. Instead, she's almost always surrounded. That's a bad place for a politician to be at the start of a grueling two-year popularity contest.

Back in 2008, I wrote a piece comparing Hillary to Richard Nixon, another politician driven by a feeling of being cornered. Back then, the similarities were political.

As Nixon had against Kennedy, Hillary in '08 was running against a sunny, charismatic candidate who often got a pass from an adoring media.

Are We Ready For 10 More Years Of Wrath From The Eternal Woman Scorned?

By Charles Hurt, Mar. 10, 2015, Washingtontimes.com

No, Madam Secretary, we do NOT want to know about your yoga habits!

Hillary Clinton's press performance Tuesday afternoon was, truly, everything Americans could have hoped for from our former First Lady, Modern Joan of Arc, Lady Macbeth, Senate carpetbagger and eternal public Woman Scorned.

She was everything she has ever been, always was and ever will be.

We are fast approaching the 25th anniversary of our first date with the Clintons.

Though his roving and randy stripes have never changed, President Clinton is a brilliant and varied virtuoso on the public stage.

At once a struggling fat person alternating between eating McDonald's and jogging in too-short shorts. A trailer park dog in heat, yet a devoted dad and husband dancing on the beach. A global, silver-haired elder statesman — who jet sets around the world with a reputed pedophile pimp.

Bill Clinton has always been a one-man traveling variety show where everybody laughs a little, gets their pockets picked and — if you are the right dimensions — a private soiree.

Hillary, on the other hand, has but one note, one act, one trick. She is a legal automaton. A disemboweled scandal-disposal robot. She is Franken-Secretary, the unkillable Political Zombie!

Jeb Bush: Hillary’s Decision to Run a Private E-mail Server Is ‘Baffling’

Mar. 7, 2015

“For security purposes, you need to be behind a firewall that recognizes the world for what it is and it’s a dangerous world and security would mean that you couldn’t have a private server. It’s a little baffling, to be honest with you, that didn’t come up in Secretary Clinton’s thought process.”

Obama: I First About Hillary’s Secret E-mails from the News

Mar. 7, 215

PLANTE: “Mr. President, when did you first learn that Hillary Clinton used an e-mail system outside the U.S. government for official business while she was secretary of State?”

OBAMA: “At the same time as everybody else learned it, through news reports.”

PLANTE: “Were you disappointed?”

OBAMA: “Let me just say that Hillary Clinton is and has been an outstanding public servant. She was a great secretary of State for me. The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency. That’s why my e-mails from my Blackberry that I carry around, all of those records are available and archived. I am glad that Hillary has instructed that those e-mails that had to do with official business have to be disclosed.”

Hillary Email ‘Scandal’? Not So Fast

REUTERS / Kevin Lamarque
By Michael Tomasky, Mar. 3, 2015, TheDailyBeast.com

It looks bad for Hillary Clinton—again. This New York Times story alleging that she might have violated federal rules by using a personal email account instead of an official government one for her communications seems to raise all the old questions about Clintonian corner-cutting and is sure to make Democrats flail their arms and cry, “Oh God, this again?”

But let’s hold on a second. A close reading of the Times piece reveals one potential big hole in the case. I’m not saying the Times is wrong here. It’s still a foggy situation. I am, however, saying this: You have to know how to read these things, and if you do know how to read them, there’s a big question here that could—potentially—exonerate Clinton to some or maybe even a considerable extent.

The article says that there were “new” regulations that Clinton was supposed to abide by. It notes that one past secretary of state, Colin Powell, who served from 2001 to 2005, sometimes used his personal email account “before the new regulations went into effect.”

Halperin: ‘Inexplicable’ Hillary Took Money from Foreign Governments

Mar. 2, 2015

NOONAN: “I think Carly Fiorina had the best line here. Her criticism of Hillary was that getting on a plane and going some place is something you do, it’s an activity. It is not an achievement. You know, I think that kind of broke through the other day.” [crosstalk]

CARDONA: “And that was a good talking point, but when you go back and look at what her achievements might have been at HP, eh, you know.” [crosstalk]

DICKERSON: “Let me ask, before we get to the Fiorina-Clinton knockdown, Mark, the fundraising questions for Clinton, how big a problem?”

HALPERIN: “They’re big and they’re careless. Look, I have sympathy for the Clintons on this on this because they were taking money to do great work around the world. But she has known she has wanted to run for president. Taking money from foreign governments which, when she was in State Department they didn’t think was an acceptable good idea, continuing to give paid speeches, I don’t quite understand why when this is clearly areas of vulnerability, why she keeps doing these things, why she allowed these things to happen. Really it’s almost inexplicable, because this gives Republicans something to talk about. It gives them something that does break through, you know, plays right in to the narrative about the Clintons.”

Hillary Clinton Hits GOP With Pro-Vaccine Tweet

By Becca Mitchell, Feb. 3, 2015, WKTR.com

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Hillary Clinton jumped into the political story of the day late on Monday night with a tweet that compared people who deny the power of vaccines to those who question whether the earth is round or the sky is blue.

Clinton is the prohibitive favorite for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 and the tweet was seemingly aimed Republican presidential hopefuls who have questioned whether vaccinations should be required and whether they are tied to mental disorders.

Clinton ends the tweet with a nod to her granddaughter, Charlotte, who was born late last year. Clinton regularly used her grandmother status as a rhetorical tool while campaigning for Democrats in 2014.

By Joe Schoffstall, Dec. 11, 2014, Capitolcityproject.com

And it's not even the end of 2014 yet

Ready for Hillary, arguably the largest and most well-know Hillary Clinton super PAC, is already in the negatives.

Despite pulling in tens of thousands of donors — mainly small contributions — and raising nearly $11 million since it was founded just last year, they’re somehow in debt.
According to the New York Times, on November 24, the group had $875,626 in the bank. Problem was, they also owed $1 million for a loan from Amalgamated — a union-tied bank that many Democrats use as a means of borrowing money. The purpose of the loan is to expand grassroots efforts of the PAC which they believe, in turn, will bring in many more small contributors.

“This investment, used to fund our massive post-midterms direct mail program, will pay dividends from now until Hillary announces her decision,” a spokesperson from Ready For Hillary told theNew York Times.

Between late September and late November, the group raised roughly $900,000 but also spent $1.8 million during that same time frame — much of which went to Democratic candidates for the midterm elections along with party committees.

The group is bound to pull themselves out of this position, but it’s certainly not the best sign in the world when you raise $11 million total and are in debt before the end of 2014.
