White House Expects Apology From Dem Who Suggested Obama Was Sexist

The White House on Wednesday said it expects Sen. Sherrod Brown to apologize for calling President Obama’s criticism of Sen. Elizabeth Warren sexist.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest called Brown (D-Ohio) a “stand-up guy” who has worked well with the president in the past.

“I’m confident after he has gotten a chance to take a look at the comments he made yesterday that he’ll find a way to apologize,” Earnest said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Earnest later sought to clarify he "didn't dictate" whether Brown should apologize.
At his daily press briefing, The spokesman said he "wouldn't necessarily expect a public apology" from the Ohio senator.

Brown is a chief critic of Obama’s trade agenda, and on Tuesday, he said the president disrespected Warren (D-Mass.), another leading anti-trade Democrat, when he responded to her comments on the issue.

The Ohio senator ripped Obama for calling Warren by her first name.

MSNBC Host’s Rant on Sexism Against Hillary Conveniently Leaves Out 3 Other Female Names

MSNBC host Touré says Hillary Clinton is subjected to thinly veiled sexist coverage by reporters. He made the claim in a discussion on MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” about the story of Clinton backers threatening reporters who use words they deem offensive.
  • Among the words the group wants banned are:
  • Ambitious
  • Calculating
  • Disingenuous
  • Entitled
  • Insincere
  • Out of Touch
  • Over Confident
  • Polarizing
  • Represent the Past
  • Secretive
  • Will Do Anything to Win
The word ‘shrill’ didn’t make the cut, but Touré thinks it should have, according to Breitbart:
“[T]here is this sort of sexist, coded language that we’ve talked about. We had somebody on ‘the Cycle,’ I think when you were on, where somebody referred to Hillary as ‘shrill,’ right?
And we all understood that as one of these code words that people use against women that they’d never use against men…we do have to be careful about the way we talk about female politicians and not sort [use] those code words to say ‘hey, remember she’s a woman.’”

When the Academy Award nominations are announced Jan. 15, one thing is sure: There will be five best actor nominees, five best actress nominees and another five men and five women anointed in each of the supporting categories, all neatly listed in their respective columns. The suggestion will be that when it comes to the year's best movies, gender equality reigns. And, like lots of things in Hollywood, that will be an illusion.

For as awards season gets underway, the handicappers already are lamenting the fact that there are far too many deserving men trying to squeeze into the best actor category. Awards blogger Pete Hammond of Deadline.com even seriously floated the idea that the Academy should quickly introduce a rule change to allow for a whopping 10 best actor nominees. (Good luck on that one.)

“In this Senate race, I’ve been watching some of these ads,” Harkin said at the Story County Democrats’ annual fall barbecue last week honoring the retiring senator. “And there’s sort of this sense that, ‘Well, I hear so much about Joni Ernst. She is really attractive, and she sounds nice.’”

“Well I gotta to thinking about that. I don’t care if she’s as good looking as Taylor Swift or as nice as Mr. Rogers, but if she votes like Michele Bachmann, she’s wrong for the state of Iowa.”

Ousted PGA of America President Ted Bishop became the latest sports executive punished for making insensitive comments, reflecting a growing effort by sports bodies to react decisively on sexist or racist comments.

Bishop's removal came one day after he referred to England's Ian Poulter as a "little school girl squealing during recess," and a week after a Russian tennis official was suspended for mocking Serena and Venus Williams as the "Williams brothers."

Democrats Dogged By Racist, Sexist Tweets From Campaign Staffers

Democrat Kevin Strouse’s congressional campaign in Pennsylvania sent out an email blast on Tuesday showcasing the personal story of a young field organizer — but failed to notice racist and bigoted tweets on that staffer’s Twitter account before making her a public face in the campaign.

It’s the second time in less than two weeks that people working for Democratic House candidates have been caught with offensive content on their Twitter accounts — an unusual situation that political pros believe points to a Democratic disinterest in vetting campaign staff.

Strouse, who is angling to unseat House Republican Mike Fitzpatrick from Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional district, unveiled a new blog last Thursday with a story written by the field organizer in question. That post was then sent out in an email blast to supporters on Tuesday.

Because the employee was between 17 and 18 years old when the tweets were posted and did not work for Strouse at that time, The Daily Caller has chosen not to reveal her identity. But the tweets themselves point to a serious lack of judgment — both on her part and on the Democratic candidate’s decision to make her a integral part of his outreach campaign.
