The Washington Establishment’s increasing angst and opposition to billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy is predicated on the notion that his highly-quotable catchphrases—“Take the oil!” or “Build a wall!”—lack substantive policy prescriptions to back them up. Poll: Clinton Trails Top Republicans In Battleground States

Washington (CNN)Hillary Clinton trails three top Republican presidential candidates in head-to-head matchups in Colorado, Iowa and Virginia, a new survey shows.

The latest Quinnipiac University swing state polling released Wednesday shows the Democratic frontrunner trailing former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in each of those states.

The biggest loser, the polls found, is Donald Trump, who has surged to the front of a crowded Republican primary field nationally but is viewed unfavorably, by almost a 2-to-1 margin, by voters in those states.

The results offered more indications that Clinton has a problem: Voters say they don't trust her.

In Colorado, only 34% of voters said they see Clinton as honest and trustworthy while 62% said they don't. In Iowa, the numbers were 33% to 59% -- a drop from 45% to 47% in April. And in Virginia, Clinton did best, at 39% saying they trust her to 55% saying they don't.

Goldman Bankers Are Jeb Bush’s Top Backers for White House

Important people at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. want Jeb Bush to be the next U.S. president. And they’re giving him a lot of money to make it happen.

More than 50 Goldman Sachs executives and employees gave the Republican more than $144,000 in the second quarter, with most of them sending $2,700, the maximum allowed, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

The company that was the next-best source of money for the former Florida governor, Neuberger Berman, is run by George Walker, Bush’s second cousin. Employees at the money manager gave more than $63,000. It once was part of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., where Bush was an adviser.

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence,” said President Calvin Coolidge, and Judicial Watch continues to prove it, much to Hillary Clinton’s consternation.

Judicial Watch now has information about an email directly tying Clinton, for the first time, to the now-debunked Benghazi talking points used by then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice to claim the attack was the result of a “spontaneous protest” gone awry.

Showing contempt for transparency, the Obama State Department is refusing to divulge the contents of the email.

Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information (FOIA) lawsuit in July 2014 seeking records from Clinton and her top State Department staff about the Benghazi talking points scandal, specifically, copies of any updates and/or talking points given to Ambassador Rice by the White House or any federal agency concerning, regarding, or related to the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya; and any and all records or communications concerning, regarding, or relating to talking points or updates on the Benghazi attack given to Ambassador Rice by the White House or any federal agency.

Donald Trump is meeting with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in Manhattan on Wednesday, though he claimed in an interview on MSNBC that he does not know why.

“Ted Cruz called me. And I don’t know why I’m meeting him, to be honest, but I do have respect for him,” Trump said on “Morning Joe” in a wide-ranging interview in which the Republican presidential contender commented on issues foreign, domestic and everything in between.

“I respect the fact that along with a couple of others, he came out and he came out very strongly and agreed with what I said on illegal immigration. And he came out very strongly and he came out early, and I respect that. I like him,” he added.
Speaking with reporters later Wednesday at the Capitol, Cruz called himself a “big fan of Donald Trump’s.”

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire—Karl Savage is the kind of guy that makes top Democrats nervous.

He lives in a working-class neighborhood, with a cigar-store Indian perched on his front stoop and a carved Harley-Davidson sign on his garage. He's voted in Democratic primaries, he's older, he's white—and he does not care for Hillary Clinton. Not one little bit.

He made this very clear, in fact, to a Clinton campaign volunteer who rang his doorbell recently only to watch the front door close on him just seconds into his pitch. A short while later, his wife, Pamela, offered this explanation before similarly shutting the door: "We're not interested. We don't like her."

So while Republicans fret about their party's outreach to Latinos and other minorities, this one Saturday morning door-knock encapsulates the fear among leading Democrats: Their party no longer speaks to white people, particularly white men, and they could lose the White House because of it.

Hillary Clinton: 'People Should And Do Trust Me'

Iowa City, Iowa (CNN) In Hillary Clinton's first national interview of the 2016 race, she attacked her Republican rivals on immigration and dismissed the suggestion that the American people have a problem trusting her.

"People should and do trust me," she told CNN's Brianna Keilar.

She blamed the "barrage of attacks that are largely fomented by and coming from the right" for fueling a perception that trust is an area of vulnerability for her.

Clinton displayed little hesitation about attacking Republicans herself, saying that she is "very disappointed" in Donald Trump for his comments about immigrants and in the Republican Party for not condemning his remarks more quickly.

Trump: I'm Not Thinking Third Party --For Now

Donald Trump's 2016 presidential run seems custom-made for a third party. The billionaire developer has never held political office, never run as a Republican or Democrat. He doesn't need a party's money-raising apparatus. His anti-politician appeal — "Politicians are never going to bring us to the promised land" — cuts equally against Republicans and Democrats. And as far as Republicans are concerned, Trump appears to connect with GOP voters who are so disgusted with the party's current Washington leadership that they would be open to a third-party campaign.

But in an interview Tuesday, Trump said he has no interest in running as a third-party candidate, at least for the moment.

Bernie-mania Running Wild As Hillary Clinton Sputters

PORTLAND, Maine — Bernie-mania swept through here last night, as more than 7,500 screaming, sign-waving supporters packed a downtown arena — many lining up hours early — for surging Vermont U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The outpouring came as a Bay State Democratic congressman warned one-time sure-shot Hillary Clinton has an “excitement problem” in the Democratic race for the White House.

“In case you didn’t notice, this is a big turnout,” Sanders told the cheering crowd at Cross Insurance Arena. “From Maine to California — we have friends from Alaska and Hawaii as well — the American people understand that establishment politics and establishment economics is not working for America.”

The rally started 20 minutes late so the people stuck in line outside could filter in, and nearly every seat was filled. Some supporters waved homemade signs, including one that read “#Bern Baby Bern” and “Feel the Bern.”
