Chuck Todd: Is Trump ‘Reap What You Sow Issue’ for GOP?

By Jeffrey Meyer, July 19, 2015 NewsBusted

Building on comments he made on NBC’s Today, Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd wondered if Donald Trump’s attack on John McCain were a “reap what you sow issue here for the Republican Party?”

Todd first brought up the “reap what you sow” argument during an interview with Rick Perry as he played up how the GOP “party embraced Donald Trump four years ago...during his whole birther craze at the time and you actively reached out for him. In hindsight was that a mistake for the party in general to embrace Trump four years ago?”  - See more at: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/jeffrey-meyer/2015/07/19/chuck-todd-trump-reap-what-you-sow-issue-gop#sthash.bblnnuJy.VJNq0abA.dpuf

Tom Brokaw Appears Unhappy On 'Meet The Chuck'

By P.J. Gladnick, Oct. 13, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Meet the Chuck aka Meet The Press has a new format and it is incredibly awkward. Despite its official name, Meet The Press, the guests don't actually Meet The Press. Instead, host Chuck Todd conducts the interviews while the panelists sit uselessly at a table in the background. Yesterday's show was notable because one of the panelists sitting at the table in the background while Todd was hogging the interviews, was the NBC news anchor for over 20 years, Tom Brokaw. So how did Brokaw like being relegated to being just another panelist in the background as Todd conducted his interviews? Well, judging from this video clip (and below) he wasn't pleased at all and expressed his displeasure by pointedly ignoring Todd when he returned to the "kiddies table" after his first interview.

Chuck Todd Interviews Dem Sen Despite Wife’s Former Support

By Jeffrey Meyer, Oct. 5, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Talk about a conflict of interest. Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd sat down with former Senator Jim Webb (D-V.A.) for an interview Sunday morning and set up the discussion by declaring how his wife worked on the Democrat’s 2006 Senate campaign.

The NBC News Political Director introduced the Virginia Democrat by highlighting how Webb is “a successful author and screenwriter and has written eight books over the years. And I do want to mention that my wife helped Jim Webb in his 2006 Senate campaign.”

Todd Hits Obama From Left On Amnesty Delay: 'What Do You Say To Person Who's Going To Be Deported?'

By Mark Fikelstein, Sept. 7, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Chuck Todd recently told the Washington Post that in his role as new Meet The Press moderator, rather than spouting the conventional wisdom of the East Coast journalistic elites, "my job is to channel that frustration of the rest of America.” So when interviewing President Obama about his intention to grant amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, you'd think he might have asked about the tens of thousands of criminal illegal immigrants that his administration released last year, or whether he planned to accept the invitation from the father of a man killed by an illegal immigrant to visit his son's grave. Instead, in a question worthy of the most rarefied of the elite liberal media, Todd hit Obama from the left: "What do you tell the person that's going to get deported before the election that this decision was essentially made in your hopes of saving a Democratic Senate." NBC didn't need to deport David Gregory to get that kind of questioning.

Chuck Todd To Interview President Obama On First 'Meet The Press' Broadcast

Credit:  Getty
By Dylan Byers, Sept. 4, 2014, Politico.com

The presidential booking, perhaps the most sought-after in political television, indicates that "Meet The Press" plans to fight aggressively to reassume its place as a dominant force in American politics. The venerable public affairs show spent 15 years as the number-one Sunday program before suffering a significant decline, both in ratings and reputation, under former moderator David Gregory.

Todd's interview with Obama will be his first interview as moderator of "Meet The Press." Todd is also NBC News political director and formerly served as the network's chief White House correspondent and host of MSNBC's Daily Rundown.

NBC Host: Democrats Are The Only One Talking About Impeachment

Debbie Wasserman Schultz
By Brendan Bordelon, Aug. 1, 2014, Dailycaller.com

NBC reporter Chuck Todd needled Debbie Wasserman Schultz over the Democratic National Committee’s relentless fundraising on the issue of President Obama’s possible impeachment, asking if she has “any qualms” about the strategy since “frankly, the only people talking about impeachment are Democrats.”

The Florida congresswoman appeared on Todd’s “Daily Rundown” Friday morning to discuss the House’s chances of passing a border bill before going on vacation. Todd took that opportunity ask the DNC chair about her fundraising strategy going into the midterm elections.

“Do you have any qualms about raising money off of the idea of impeachment when Speaker Boehner says it’s off the table, that this is drumming up the process?” the NBC reporter asked. “Do you feel like you’re overtalking about it, that — you know, frankly, the only people talking about impeachment this week are Democrats, not Republicans.”

“Oh, that isn’t true, Chuck!” Wasserman Schultz protested, claiming that Republican House Speaker John Boehner “can’t control his conference” and “isn’t even Speaker — Ted Cruz is Speaker!”

“It’s Republicans that haven’t taken it off the table,” she asserted. “We know that the [House] lawsuit [against Obama] is a prelude to impeachment, or it was passed off the House floor just to appease his very large number of members that want us to pursue impeachment.”

By Kyle Drennen, May 9, 2014, Newsbusters.org

During an interview with Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday's MSNBC Daily Rundown, NBC political director Chuck Todd challenged Reid's suggestion that Republicans were solely to blame for legislation not getting through Congress: "You don't believe Democrats play any role in this? It feels like a tit-for-tat game....you don't belief there's any tit-for-tat going on here?" [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Reid launched into a rant against supposedly unfair media coverage: "One of the problems that the press has in modern-day journalism is everything you do is a tit for tat. You won't call things the way they actually exist. What has happened here is the Republicans have stopped everything from happening....So, you can give me the tit for tat all you want, but the fact is we want to legislate. We want to legislate, we want to take votes."

By Kyle Drennen, Mar. 31, 2014, Newsbusters

Appearing on Monday's Today, NBC's chief White House correspondent and political director Chuck Todd seized on ObamaCare hitting the six million sign-up mark by the March 31 deadline, proclaiming: "So at a minimum, the importance of hitting the six million....it means the law is unrepealable....It means that it's here to stay." Todd made no mention of only 26% of Americans supporting ObamaCare in a new poll. [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Co-host Matt Lauer accepted Todd's declaration and wondered about the political impact of the health care law: "You can't repeal it, but does that mean seven months down the road, as the midterm elections come around, that this will be any less of an issue in terms of close races in congressional districts?" Todd admitted: "No, I don't think – at this point, the law is so embedded as sort of a – as a political negative for the Democrats and political negative overall, that I don't think anything's going to change by November."

CNN's Don Lemon with Toy Plane
By Dylan Byers, Mar. 21, 2014, Politico
NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd publicly criticized CNN this week for its relentless use of the "breaking news" chyron on stories related to missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370.
"Another day of 'breaking news' based on finding nothing or in other words, 'not breaking news,'" Todd, who also hosts MSNBC's "Daily Rundown," wrote on Twitter on Friday morning.

"I know it may look like I am casting stones while potentially living in a glass house. But the mistakes of one news org hurts ALL of us," he wrote. "Then it becomes 'the media' is abusing 'breaking news' — no it's not 'the media' in general."
