Trump Turns Tables On Megyn Kelly

By Christian Datoc, Aug 06, 2015 Daily Caller

Donald Trump — in response to a question from Fox News’ Megyn Kelly — declined to apologize for comments some might view as insensitive and even got a dig in on the debate moderator.

“What I say is what I say,” the real estate mogul retorted. In Trump’s eyes, bigger problem with America, “is being politically correct… What I say, often times it’s fun, it’s kidding. We have a good time… and if, Megyn, you don’t like it, then I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you, though I could probably not be based on the way you’ve been treating me, but I wouldn’t do that.”

Krauthammer: Obama Comparing Republicans to Iranian Hardliners

By Charles Krauthammer, Aug 05, 2015
Real Clear Politics

On FOX News' Kelly File Wednesday night, syndicated columnist Charleston Krauthammer said that President Obama likening the GOP to Iranians who chant "death to America" is "a new low" for him.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: It's vintage Obama, the demonization of his opponent, the lumping them together with people chanting death to America, I must say is a new low for the president considering. Which is saying a lot considering how he does demonize the opposition. But what is even worse here is how delusional he is. He is pretending that those who chant death to America are some kind of KKK fringe in Iran. The people leading the chant of the Revolutionary Guard, the army, the parliamentary leaders and of course -- as he always calls them, Obama always does -- the Supreme Leader himself in a speech he made just a few days after the signing of the agreement the chants break out death to America, death to Israel and the Ayatollah said may Allah hear your prayers.

The Fox News GOP Debate Could Draw The Biggest Audience In Cable News History

By  Gabriel Sherman, July 30, 2015 NY Mag

At the start of his career, not long after he helped Richard Nixon win the 1968 election, Roger Ailes boasted to a reporter that television would one day replace the political party as the most powerful force in American politics. If there is any doubt that the Fox News founder has largely made that prediction come true, it should be erased by the panic that next week’s Fox debate is stoking inside the GOP. In a year that features the largest primary field in modern history — not to mention Donald Trump as a front-runner — campaign strategists worry that Ailes's debate, which is likely to attract the biggest audience in cable-news history, could define the race more than five months before the first votes are cast.

Two Weeks To Go: Republicans Scramble To Make Debate Stage

By Jonathan Easley, July 27, 2015 The Hill

The race is on for the final spots on stage for the first Republican debate.

With the highly-anticipated showdown less than two weeks away, candidates with low polling numbers are in a high-stakes scramble to qualify for an event that represents their best shot at breaking out.

Fox News is capping the Aug. 6 debate in Cleveland at 10 candidates based on five as-of-yet unspecified national polls released by 5 p.m. on Aug. 4.

Based on five polls used by RealClearPolitics (RCP), eight candidates look like locks to make the stage, while the race for the final two slots is headed for a controversial photo finish. For the candidates currently ranked between ninth place and 14th place, the polling differential is negligible.

The Murdoch/Trump Twitter Feud Which Could Catch Fire

By Salon Staff, July 20, 2015 Salon

Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal have soured on Donald Trump. Now what will Fox News do?

On Saturday, after Trump crossed a line in the eyes of many Republicans with his comments on John McCain’s war record, Rupert Murdoch tweeted that:

That was followed this morning by a scathing Wall Street Journal editorial which argued that:

It came slightly ahead of schedule, but Donald Trump’s inevitable self-immolation arrived on the weekend when he assailed John McCain’s war record. The question now is how long his political and media apologists on the right will keep pretending he’s a serious candidate.

The piece also called out conservative magazine editors — Bill Kristol, we’d assume — for enabling Trump and his rise to the top of the GOP polls. (It did not mention a certain conservative cable news network which has also helped enable Trump.)
