NEW YORK (Reuters) - Carly Fiorina has emerged as the Republican candidate of the moment in conservative fundraising circles, drawing the notice of the billionaire Koch brothers and other wealthy donors who could instantly remake her shoestring presidential campaign.

Fiorina's show-stealing performance in a Republican presidential debate last month, and her subsequent surge in the polls, has prompted industrialists Charles and David Koch to take a “serious look” at the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, according to three sources close to the brothers.

She has now moved to the short list of candidates the Kochs may support with their reported $1 billion war chest, the sources said. Florida Senator Marco Rubio is among those on the coveted list, the sources said.

Broadcast Networks Cover Kochs 22 Times More Than Election’s Top Funder Steyer

Mark Steyer
By Dan Gainor, Oct. 29, 2014, Foxnews.com

The biggest name this midterm election isn’t Barack Obama. It’s liberal billionaire Tom Steyer, the coal king who wants to pretend to be green. Steyer has thrown nearly $74 million at the election in an attempt to tip seven key states into the Democratic column, funding more than 7,000 commercials.

Steyer and his Nextgen Climate Political Action Committee are trying to make climate change the key issue on the ballot. According to an October Gallup poll, only 2 percent of Americans think “Environment/Pollution” is one of the top non-economic issues facing the nation.

Steyer is determined to force you to think differently. And he’ll spend whatever it takes to do so – the whole time hoping you forget that he made much of his wealth off the very fuels he now pretends to hate.

Dem Gets Booed For Whining About Koch Brothers

Jim Treacher, Oct. 27, 2014, DailyCaller.com

It’s hard to believe, but people are getting sick of Democrats blaming everything on the Koch brothers. It was a dumb tactic to begin with, and as election day looms, the Dems’ bristling panic doesn’t make them sound any smarter.

Tom Steyer
By Andrew Stiles, May 19, 2014, Freebeacon.com

Left wing eco-billionaire Tom Steyer has formally purchased Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.). Steyer recently donated $5 million to Senate Majority PAC, the pro-Democratic Super PAC run by former Reid aides, making him the single largest contributor to the group.

The transaction is related to Steyer’s broader effort to buy American democracy for $100 million and block construction of the wildly popular Keystone XL pipeline. In fact, news of Steyer’s donation comes just days after Senate Democrats helped kill a bipartisan energy efficiency bill after Republicans tried to require a vote on Keystone approval.

It also highlights the absurdity of Harry Reid’s senile jihad against the billionaire Koch brothers. Reid has accused the Kochs of “trying to buy America,” while insisting that Steyer is a benign billionaire who is simply “concerned about climate change.”

So far this year, top donors to Senate Majority PAC include:

  • Tom Steyer, hedge fund billionaire
  • Fred Eychaner, media magnate/billionaire
  • James Simons, hedge fund manager/billionaire
  • James Atwood, Jr., hedge fund manager
  • Jon Stryker, billionaire heir to medical supply empire
  • Anne Bass, wife of billionaire corporate jet tycoon
  • Unions
  • Trial lawyers

House Majority Leader Harry Reid
By Dana Milbank, May 4, 2014, Tdn.com

WASHINGTON -- The time has come to stop the denial and to admit that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a Koch problem.

More than 100 times on the Senate floor in the past few months, Reid has invoked Charles and David Koch, the billionaire brothers who have pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into conservative causes and campaigns.

After a brief respite during the Easter recess (during which time Reid turned his ire to the “domestic terrorists” who supported Cliven Bundy in Reid’s home state of Nevada) the senator has relapsed into a full-blown Koch habit.

Opening a minimum wage debate Wednesday, he said that if “Americans are searching for an answer” to why Republicans “would refuse to raise the minimum wage, they should look no further than Republicans’ billionaire benefactors -- I repeat, billionaire benefactors -- the Koch brothers.”

After Republicans blocked a minimum wage increase with a filibuster, Reid went to the Senate TV gallery and complained that “Republicans are defending ... the Koch brothers, while they come to the floor and oppose raising the minimum wage.”

Asked a question about a proposed constitutional amendment that would limit campaign contributions. Reid answered with a non sequitur: “The Koch brothers, of course, have -- they scored this vote,” he said. “In effect what they did is say, ‘If you vote yes, we’re not going to be with you anymore.’”

I caught up with Reid in the hall outside and asked whether he was concerned that all these Koch mentions were turning him into a Koch addict. “I tried that line; nobody picked it up,” he said. “I said they were Koch addicts.”

He did, on March 4: “Senate Republicans are addicted to Koch.”

By The Right Scoop, Apr. 23, 2014

A Marine Corps Veteran, Chris Schiff, featured in a AFP ad, lost his insurance because of Obamacare and now pays over double every month in premiums with his new Obamacare insurance. He lives in Louisiana so the ad is targeted against Mary Landrieu, who had the gall to infer that the ad is false and, of course, blamed the Koch Brothers. He explains why she’s wrong below.

Megyn Kelly also asks Schiff if he believes his Commander-In-Chief lied to him about his insurance, and he says absolutely:

Source:  Daily Caller
By Giuseppe Macri, Apr. 18, 2014

A previously unreleased White House document among the 7,500 published by the Clinton presidential library Friday warns that the burgeoning Internet of 1995 is being “seized” by the “right wing” and turned into a “communication stream of conspiracy commerce.”

The 1995 report, titled “The Communication Stream of Conspiracy Commerce,” describes the Internet as a new method of communication ”employed by the right wing” and used to “convey their fringe stories into legitimate subjects of coverage by the mainstream media.”

Among those “fringe stories” were the now-infamous reports and lawsuits alleging extra-martial affairs with the president, including accusations from model and actress Gennifer Flowers, and murmurings about former Arkansas state employee Paula Jones, Mashable reports.

By John Hinderaker, Apr. 7, 2014, Powerlineblog.com

Chuck Schumer has joined Harry Reid in obsessive attacks on Charles and David Koch and their company, Koch Industries. Yesterday Schumer told Politico that the Democrats’ attacks on the Koch brothers are paying off politically, and they intend to continue them. He described the brothers’ “real agenda”:

They’re spending $40, $50 million in ads that are not focused on their real agenda, which is just eliminating all regulation on corporations, cutting taxes to virtually nothing.

Here is the funny thing: when KochPAC, Koch Industries’ political action committee, donated money to Schumer’s 2010 Senatorial campaign, Schumer thought the Kochs were wonderful. Here is the letter of appreciation he wrote, dated October 28,2009.

It seems that for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., the rules don’t matter.  On Wednesday, we reported that Reid’s official Senate website includes a page dedicated to attacking the Koch brothers, private citizens with whom Reid disagrees.  But it turns out that page violates Senate Internet policies regarding webpages, the Daily Caller reported on Wednesday.

The Daily Caller reports:
By Robby Soave, Apr. 2, 2014, The Daily Caller
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has escalated his war of words against the billionaire Koch brothers by publishing an anti-Koch hit piece on his Senate.gov page, despite official rules prohibiting the use of U.S. senators’ .gov websites for political purposes.
The Senate.gov web page belonging to the Nevada Democrat currently features a list of “facts” about the Koch brothers, their limited government views and financial support for candidates that support these views.
“The Kochs want to abolish Social Security,” reads the page. “The Kochs spent $400 million on misleading attack ads in the last election cycle.”

Charles Koch                        David H. Koch
By Joseph Curl, Mar. 30, 2014, The Washington Times

Just kidding. I know who the Koch brothers are. They’re the billionaire oil magnates who control 4,000 miles of pipeline and whose corporation, Koch Industries, owns dozens of companies like Georgia-Pacific lumber, Stainmaster carpet, Brawny paper towels, Angel Soft toilet paper, even Dixie cups. Net sales: $115 billion. A year.

The brothers are old dudes: David is 73, Charles is 78. They’re into the arts, dance, music, medicine (“into” meaning they give hundreds of millions of dollars to support). Their multiple foundations focus on, among other things, job training, education. Another funds cancer research (nearly $700 million so far); yet another keys on the environment. One lives in Wichita, Kansas. Flyover country.
But this year, the Koch brothers are the prime targets of Democrats in the mid-term elections.

You read that right. The Democrats are putting everything they’ve got into this single effort: Attack two elderly rich guys. The party’s top leaders have concluded that if they can demonize these two geezers, they can hold onto the Senate, and maybe pick up some seats in the House. (If the bros are reading this, sorry about the “geezers” thing, and yes, I would like $10 million for a project I’d like to start up.)

By Patrick Howley, Mar. 21, 2014, Daily Caller
The group that flagged Republican Sen. David Vitter’s comment praising the Koch brothers received $1.5 million from progressive billionaire George Soros.
“I think the Koch brothers are two of the most patriotic Americans,” Vitter said this week at a Louisiana town hall, referring to billionaire conservative donors Charles and David Koch. “Maybe this is a good example, because I’ll be honest with you, God bless the Koch brothers. They’re fighting for our freedom.”

The super PAC American Bridge 21st Century posted video of Vitter’s statement for operatives and the mainstream media to use the senator’s remarks against him.
