Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rallied more than 10,000 Jewish leaders and activists to reject a recently inked nuclear accord with Iran that the Israeli leader believes “will bring war” to the region and provide the Islamic Republic with a nuclear weapon within 10 to 15 years.

Netanyahu, who spoke Tuesday afternoon on a conference call organized by the Jewish Federation of North America (JFNA), urged those on the call to do all they can to defeat the deal and stop the Obama administration from enacting it.

“This deal will bring war,” Netanyahu warned. “It will spark a nuclear arms race in the region. And it would feed Iran’s terrorism and aggression that would make war, perhaps the most horrific war of all, far more likely.”

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's prime minister says an "aggressive and confrontational speech" by Iran's supreme leader shows that any expectations a nuclear deal would soften the militancy of the Islamic Republic were misguided.
Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Iran doesn't "even try to hide the fact" that it will use a looming lifting of sanctions to further arm regional militant groups and to oppose American and Israeli interests around the Middle East.

Iran Deal: Major Political Victory For Obama And Iran's Rouhani

Israel today launched a blistering attack on Western powers for agreeing a controversial atomic deal with Iran, warning that it gave Tehran 'a sure path to nuclear weapons'.

Under the accord, sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union and United Nations will be lifted in return for Iran agreeing long-term curbs on a nuclear programme that the West has suspected was aimed at creating an atomic bomb.

The European Union called it a 'sign of hope for the entire world', while President Barack Obama insisted the deal meant 'every pathway to a nuclear weapon is cut off'.
But this was angrily rejected by Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu branding the deal 'a bad mistake of historic proportions'.

He said: 'Iran will get a jackpot, a cash bonanza of hundreds of billions of dollars, which will enable it to continue to pursue its aggression and terror in the region and in the world.

In his first interview after elections, Zionist Union leader Isaac Herzog spoke to Army Radio Thursday morning about his defeat in the 20th Knesset elections and Israel's political outlook in light of the results.

Herzog said he had gone to bed around 2 a.m. Wednesday after polls had closed, believing his party had tied with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud, only to find out from a text message at 6:45 a.m. from his faction's co-leader Tzipi Livni of the reality that Likud had pulled ahead by at least five mandates.

Herzog stated that he was surprised by the Likud party's sweeping victory indicated by ballot counts Wednesday morning.

Israel Election: Netanyahu Claims Victory As Main Rival Concedes

Jerusalem (CNN) Benjamin Netanyahu appears poised to keep his job as Israel's Prime Minister, declaring victory Wednesday following a bitter campaign punctuated by his last-minute appeals to right-wing voters.

For weeks, Netanyahu's Likud party trailed in opinion polls to the Zionist Union alliance that characterized him as a divisive leader not up to the task of making the lives of ordinary Israelis better.

Those polls turned out to be wrong.

Instead, the Likud party grabbed at least 29 of the 120 seats in the Knesset, Israel's parliament, according to unofficial numbers from the Israeli election committee, based on 99% of the vote. Its leaders will have the first chance at forming a coalition government.

The Zionist Union came in second, with at least 24 seats.

Jerusalem (AFP) - Adored by some, loathed by others, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking a third straight term in an election Tuesday seen as a referendum on his leadership.

Three years ago, Time magazine hailed the burly 65-year-old with his trademark comb-over as "King Bibi".

Today, a wide array of opponents are united by the slogan "Anyone but Bibi" as a potential 5.8 million Israeli voters prepare to head to the polls.

A skillful and highly polished orator who has made security the centrepiece of his campaign, Netanyahu has driven home his own slogan -- "It's me or them."

Two weeks ago he played to his strengths by taking his campaign against an emerging nuclear deal with Iran to the heart of the US political establishment, in a move that infuriated the White House.

His impassioned speech to Congress drew standing ovations -- and snarls of anger -- in a reflection of the strong emotions Israel evokes in its closest and most powerful ally.

In response to Benjamin Netanyahu’s fluff-filled speech to Congress, MSNBC host Chris Matthews blasted the Israeli Prime Minister for trying to hijack U.S. foreign policy from President Obama.

During his speech to the Republicans who see him as their real leader, Netanyahu wasted no time in his mission to wreck diplomatic negotiations with Iran. Not only did he urge a rejection of the deal, he used Holocaust victims to equate Iran with Nazi Germany, accusing the Islamic nation of “gobbling up nation,” and accused President Obama of paving Iran’s “path to the bomb.”

Of course, when the AP fact-checked Netanyahu on both claims, they found he was playing fast and loose on the facts.

Just days after the Obama White House accused House Speaker John Boehner of “breaking protocol” by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress, a team of up to five Obama campaign operatives has reportedly arrived in Israel to lead a campaign to defeat the Israeli Prime Minister in upcoming national elections scheduled for March 17.

The anti-Netanyahu, left wing Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports a group called “One Voice,” reportedly funded by American donors, is paying for the Obama campaign team. That group is reportedly being led by Obama’s 2012 field director Jeremy Bird.

Israel's prime minister says he will try to increase immigration of French Jews and others in Europe suffering from a "rising tide of anti-Semitism."

Benjamin Netanyahu's comments Saturday came a day after four French Jews were killed inside a kosher market in Paris. Netanyahu said every Jew who wanted to move to Israel would be "welcomed with a warm heart and open arms."

Netanyahu also asked French President Francois Hollande to maintain heightened security at Jewish institutions.

Even before the deadly attack there has been an uptick in French Jewish migration to Israel because of anti-Semitism. Last year, for the first time ever, France topped the immigration list to Israel, according to the quasigovernmental Jewish Agency. Nearly 7,000 new immigrants came in 2014, double the number of the previous year.

“No,” Psaki said. “There are anonymous sources in all of your stories every single day. If we spent all of our time focused on that effort we wouldn’t be working on diplomacy.”

White House Tries To Ease Flare-Up Over Netanyahu Insults

The White House on Wednesday sought to tamp down the controversy over a magazine piece that detailed deep tensions between the U.S. and Israel – and quoted an unnamed senior Obama administration official calling the Israeli leader a “chickenshit.”

Administration officials, including White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, did not deny the quote. They also did not signal there would be any robust effort to find out who said it.

But Alistair Baskey, spokesman for the National Security Council, said the criticism does not reflect how the rest of the administration views Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu On White House Comments: 'Attack On Me Comes Only Because I am Defending Israel'

As you've probably read by now, high level officials at the White House refer to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "chicksh*it" among other childish things according to reporting from The Atlantic's Jeffery Goldberg. Although President Obama hasn't addressed the alleged comments yet (and Press Secretary Josh Earnest dodged questions during the daily briefing today), Netanyahu has issued a response with indirect references to unacceptable White House foreign policy positions regarding Israel over the years.

"When Israel is pressured to make concessions on its security it is very easy to give in. There are ovations and ceremonies on lawns and afterwards come the missiles and the tunnels. As Prime Minister I am responsible for Israel's security. I care about the lives of every civilian and soldier. I have been on the battlefield many times. I have risked my life for the country and I am not prepared to make concessions that will endanger our state," Netanyahu said.

The Crisis In U.S.-Israel Relations Is Officially Here

The other day I was talking to a senior Obama administration official about the foreign leader who seems to frustrate the White House and the State Department the most. “The thing about Bibi is, he’s a chickenshit,” this official said, referring to the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, by his nickname.

This comment is representative of the gloves-off manner in which American and Israeli officials now talk about each other behind closed doors, and is yet another sign that relations between the Obama and Netanyahu governments have moved toward a full-blown crisis. The relationship between these two administrations— dual guarantors of the putatively “unbreakable” bond between the U.S. and Israel—is now the worst it's ever been, and it stands to get significantly worse after the November midterm elections. By next year, the Obama administration may actually withdraw diplomatic cover for Israel at the United Nations, but even before that, both sides are expecting a showdown over Iran, should an agreement be reached about the future of its nuclear program.

The fault for this breakdown in relations can be assigned in good part to the junior partner in the relationship, Netanyahu, and in particular, to the behavior of his cabinet. Netanyahu has told several people I’ve spoken to in recent days that he has “written off” the Obama administration, and plans to speak directly to Congress and to the American people should an Iran nuclear deal be reached.
