‘Intellectual Dishonesty’: Dennis Prager Unloads On Richard Dawkins

Billy Hallowell, Oct. 2, 2013, The Blaze

The debate started when Dawkins, a scientist and activist who has inspired secularists around the world to rail against religion, was interviewed by CNN on Friday night, where he made negative remarks about the Bible.

“Not only should we not get our moral compass from religion, as a matter of fact we don’t,” Dawkins said. “We shouldn’t, because if you actually look at the bible or the Koran, and get your moral compass from there, it’s horrible — stoning people to death, stoning people for breaking the Sabbath.”

Muslim NBA Player Disrespects USA, Refuses To Stand For National Anthem 'For Religious Reasons'

Rick Wells, Nov. 10, 2014, Universal Free Press

Last Wednesday, Waiters, a Muslim who is receiving a very nice living courtesy of the infidels of the American public, decided his religious views prevented him from attending the flag ceremony and the playing of the American National Anthem during the pregame activities.

He showed up just before tip-off time, which led to speculations as to whether he was injured, being disciplined, disgruntled or there was something else going on.

U.S. Bishops Struggling Under Francis’ Pontificate

Rachel Zoll, Nov. 8, 2014, AP

U.S. Roman Catholic bishops are gathering at a moment of turbulence for them and the American church, as Pope Francis moves toward crafting new policies for carrying out his mission of mercy - a prospect that has conservative Catholics and some bishops in an uproar.

The assembly, which starts Monday in Baltimore, comes less than a month after Francis ended a dramatic Vatican meeting on how the church can more compassionately minister to Catholic families.

Manhattan Beach Ca: Parents Pull Son From Class, Accuse School Of 'Teaching Islam'

William Bigelow, Oct. 31, 2014, Breitbart

Parents of a boy enrolled in Manhattan Beach Middle School are pulling their son out of class because the school is teaching children the tenets of Islam, Los Angeles news station KTLA reports.

The father said, “The audacity of this school, to think that they can sit these children down and teach ’em whatever religion they please; it’s preposterous. This is illegal, basically. You can’t teach religion in schools any more, but apparently, in this particular school, at least, that’s not the case.”

Parents said they discovered that what their children were learning about Islam was more about the tenets of the faith than the history of the religion, according to KTLA. One question asked the students to write down teachings from the Koran.

Ex-Marine Banned From Daughter's School After He Complained About Her Islam Homework

Kevin & Melissa Woods / Daily Mail
David McCormack, Oct. 30, 2014, Daily Mail

A former Marine has been banned from his daughter’s school in Maryland after he took issue with her homework assignment on Islam.

Kevin Woods was angered after he found his daughter, an 11th grade student at La Plata High School, had been given a three page exercise last Wednesday that examined Islam’s five pillars.

Woods and his wife Melissa asked the school to give their daughter an alternative assignment, but were told that she either do the assignment or receive a zero grade.

‘We’re not teaching religion, we’re teaching world history,’ school spokesperson Katie O’Malley-Simpson told Fox News.

She alleges that Wood was threatening to cause a disruption, which is why he was issued a no-trespass order last Thursday after a telephone call with the school’s vice principal Shannon Morris.

‘I told her straight up “you could take that Muslim-loving piece of paper and shove it up your white a**,’” Kevin Wood told SoMd

President Obama's Ramadan Slap At Muslims

By Salam Al-Marayati, Jul. 28, 2014, Religion.blogs.cnn.com

(CNN) – Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush all met with American Muslims, as they did with most other religious groups.

President Barack Obama, under advice from his aides that association with Muslims is politically damaging, has yet to invite American Muslim organizations and leaders into the Oval Office for substantive discussions on domestic and international policies.

Yes, Muslims from all over the country accepted a White House invitation to attend the Iftar dinner earlier this month with the President to break our fast, to break bread, and to build bridges of understanding.

In Ramadan, a month for spiritual replenishment in the Islamic calendar, an estimated 1.5 billion Muslims around the world perform an obligatory fast from predawn to sunset for the purpose of purifying one’s soul through prayer and self-sacrifice.

By Kevin "Coach" Collins, May 23, 2014, Westernjournalism.com

A report on religiosity in America, prepared by The Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI), reveals that religion is fading as an element in our public character. Moreover, when it comes to admitting the truth about personal religiosity, the PRRI’s work shows Liberals prefer comfortable lies to demanding truths.

Sadly but not surprisingly, the study’s numbers weren’t encouraging. PRRI’s study told an interesting tale of how liberals lie about their relationship to religion and religiosity.

During PRRI’s telephone interviews 43% claimed to attend religious ceremonies, with 27% saying religion “is the most important thing in their lives.” However, when the anonymous responses from online surveys were tallied, the numbers dropped dramatically to 30% religious service attendance–and 20% saying religion was the most important thing in their life.

The difference between the two sets of numbers is attributed to people wanting to be seen in the best light when actually talking to another person, even a totally anonymous stranger. This is a normal quirk of human behavior for most people. But it is especially prevalent among liberals.

Last Sunday on “60 Minutes” President Obama explained why he and Pope Francis have so much in common: "President Obama shares what it was like to meet with Pope Francis"

Both, said Obama, fight to arrest growing worldwide “inequality.” About Obama’s then-upcoming visit to Vatican City, White House press secretary Jay Carney said, “The president looks forward to discussing with Pope Francis their shared commitment to fighting poverty and growing inequality.” Obama calls inequality “the defining challenge of our time.”

But global inequality is declining, not increasing, declining.

The reason is obvious. China and India account for more then one-third of the world’s population. While the Chinese government avoids the “c” word -- capitalism -- its embrace of free-market reforms has lifted millions out of poverty. Similarly, in India freer markets spark a growth rate that now exceeds that of many countries in the West.

The Atlantic magazine, no right-wing rag, cites researchers who confirm the shrinking global inequality gap: “First, consider inequality. Academic researchers -- from Xavier Sala-i-Martin of Columbia University, to Surjit Bhalla, formerly of the Brookings Institution and Rand Corporation, to Paolo Liberati of the University of Rome -- all agree that global inequality is declining. That is because 2.6 billion people in China and India are richer than they used to be. Their economies are growing much faster than those of their Western counterparts, thus shrinking the income gap that opened at the dawn of industrialization in the 19th century, when the West took off and left much of the rest of the world behind.

“Paradoxically, the shrinking of the global inequality gap was only possible after India and China abandoned their attempts to create equality through central planning. By allowing people to keep more of the money they earned, the Chinese and Indian governments incentivized people to create more wealth. Allowing inequality to increase at home, in other words, diminished inequality globally. And global inequality, surely, is the statistic that should most concern the leader of a global religion.”

Rocker/philanthropist Bono also sees a decline in global income inequality. He attributes that growth not to foreign aid but to “entrepreneurial capitalism.” Indeed, he calls foreign aid “just a stop-gap.”

“Rock star preaches capitalism,” Bono said, almost apologetically, about his un-rock-star-like embrace of free markets.

Preach, brother, preach!

Is global warming a “great demon”? The Church of England says it is and has promised to divest itself of hydrocarbon fuels as a last resort in order to help cut Britain’s carbon dioxide emissions.

Calls for the church to divest came from its own clergy in the wake of massive flooding and torrential rainfall that hit the UK last winter, as climate scientists debated whether or not the wet winter was caused by global warming.

Canon Giles Goddard of the church’s Southwark diocese said the religious body should “align the mission of the church with its investment arm and with the life of the parishes.”
“Climate change is a moral issue because the rich world has disproportionately contributed to it and the poor world is disproportionately suffering,” said Goddard. “Poor communities are least equipped to deal with the impacts.”

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A veteran Los Angeles police sergeant is suing the city claiming he was discriminated against because of his Wiccan religion, weeks after his wife filed a similar lawsuit.

Sgt. A.J. DeBellis, who joined the LAPD in 1990, filed a complaint Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging discrimination, harassment and retaliation, according to City News Service.

DeBellis claims he was “verbally berated” and issued negative comment cards by a captain and a lieutenant after voicing complaints about his mandatory attendance at a training session and holiday gathering at a Christian church in Chatsworth in December 2012.
DeBellis claims he was required to sit through a recital of a Christian prayer and that religious music was played “during a significant portion of the event.”

“As a practicing Wiccan, (DeBellis) was deeply offended by the department’s decision to conduct the training session and holiday gathering at a religious facility and reasonably believed that the event violated the Establishment Clause and separation of church and state,” documents obtained by CNS read.

DeBellis, who was assigned to the Devonshire Division at the time, was allegedly given an unexpected shift change and was no longer permitted to fill in as watch commander, moves he defines as “religious-based harassment and retaliation”.

Muslim moms and dads in Dearborn, Mich. are upset after students received flyers promoting an Easter Egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church.

The parents say the egg hunt “violates the U.S. Constitution”.

The Muslims told the Detroit Free-Press that they were concerned about the religious implications of Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church’s “Eggstravaganza!”

They were also “troubled” by images of a bunny rabbit.

“It really bothered my two kids,” parent Majed Moughni, told the newspaper. “My son was like, ‘Dad, I really don’t feel comfortable getting these flyers, telling me to go to church. I thought churches are not supposed to mix with schools.’ ”

The school district did not comment and the pastor of the church said there’s nothing remotely religious about the event.

“Part of our ministry in Dearborn is to invite the community to let them know we’re here,” Pastor Neeta Nichols told the newspaper. “We’re offering various kinds of programming, fun opportunities, so what we can be engaged with the community.”

Fear not, peeps. I not a theologian, but I’m fairly certain Peter Cottontail was not at The Last Supper.

On her 12 p.m. ET hour MSNBC show on Tuesday, host Andrea Mitchell interrogated attorney Mark Rienzi for representing Hobby Lobby in the Supreme Court case against the ObamaCare contraception mandate: "What right do they have, again, to interfere with medical decisions by women?...I mean, this gets to the whole issue of women's health and why should women be discriminated against in ways that other medical beneficiaries are not?" [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Rienzi pushed back: "No one's discriminating against women, Andrea, all they're saying is that, you're right, these are personal decisions, these are things that people can come to different judgments about. But the government is trying to say – they're gonna force people to be involved in it whether they want to or not."

Out: First Amendment protections guaranteeing religious liberty. Oh, and the right to free association. In: The inalienable right to have strangers pony up for your sex life.
Welcome to our new constitutional order, if some major American newspapers and left-leaning sites have their way. In the view of The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and left-wing blogs, Christian business owners are trying to take away the right to contraception, by asserting their right to religious liberty.
With the Hobby Lobby case coming before the Supreme Court Tuesday, March 25, the usual suspects of social liberalism have been up in arms. Over 50 businesses have filed a brief against the HHS Mandate which requires businesses with over 15 employees to provide employees with insurance plans that cover all types of contraception, including abortifacients. According to the media, the notion that pro-life business owners would contest this is “absurd” “bigotry”  and “religion run amok.”
So we get to hear from America’s most famous consumer of birth control and Obama’s favorite student Sandra Fluke, along with abortion activists Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood, NARAL President Ilyse Hogue. For good measure, the gay left weighed in too.
