Though the Republicans elected a handful of African-Americans to Congress in the 2014 midterms — an historic event, considering the previous makeup of the Republican party — they declined to join the caucus along with Love. The last Republican member of the caucus was Rep. Allen West (R-FL), who lost his seat in 2012.

These FBI and CDC Statistics Completely Destroy The Race Baiting, Police Bashing Narrative Out of Ferguson

Despite the fact that the grand jury in Ferguson weighed tons of evidence, including forensic evidence, heard countless testimony from eyewitnesses, many of whom are black, and decided that Officer Darren Wilson was indeed acting in self-defense when he shot Michael Brown, race hustlers like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the Congressional Black Caucus, and even Barack Obama himself have perpetuated the lie of massive police brutality towards blacks.

In fact, to listen to them speak, one would think that white police officers are using black males as target practice in the streets. They’ve just about said as much. Based upon their words, one would think that thousands, or even tens of thousands, of blacks are killed by white police officers unnecessarily.

And, don’t try to bring up the black on black crime and killings to these race hustlers. They will take the argument that it is irrelevant and some have even claimed that it is untrue.

They are liars, on both counts.

As the old saying goes, “you are entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.” As Barack Obama would say, “Period.”

Democratic members of Congress showed solidarity with Ferguson protesters tonight by making the “Hands up, don’t shoot” gesture on the House floor tonight.

New York’s Hakeem Jeffries and Yvette Clarke, along with Texas’ Al Green, all made the protest gesture on the House floor tonight. Green made the gesture in reference to what the St. Louis Rams did, but touted it as a “new symbol” of protest.

A member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights told President Obama Monday that the administration’s reported plan to grant work permits to millions of illegal immigrants of illegal immigrants would have a harmful effect on black American workers.

Peter Kirsanow, a Republican appointee to the panel, said in a letter to the president and to the Congressional Black Caucus that issuing millions of work permits to potentially low-wage workers “will devastate the black community.”

Weeks before he will reportedly enact a massive executive amnesty for illegal immigrants, President Barack Obama was silent on immigration when he addressed the Congressional Black Caucus' Phoenix Awards Dinner on Saturday evening in Washington, D.C.

Critics of amnesty, like U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner Peter Kirsanow, have warned that granting work permits to millions of more illegal immigrants would have a disparate impact on black workers trying to move up the economic ladder. The black unemployment rate is 11.2%, and a record number of blacks are not even in the workforce.

Like former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Obama conceded that Americans of all races and backgrounds have been struggling in his economy.

"Our work is not done when working Americans of all races have seen their wages and incomes stagnate, even as corporate profits soar; when African-American unemployment is still twice as high as white unemployment; when income inequality, on the rise for decades, continues to hold back hardworking communities, especially communities of color," Obama told the audience. "We’ve got unfinished work. And we know what to do. That’s the worst part--we know what to do."

Cop Shot In Ferguson As Obama Says Most Americans Believe Nation Racist

On the night a police officer was shot in a Missouri town torn by racial strife, President Obama donned a tuxedo at a black awards dinner and said racist police nationwide are to blame for community mistrust.

"Too many young men of color feel targeted by law enforcement -- guilty of walking while black or driving while black, judged by stereotypes that fuel fear and resentment and hopelessness," Obama said.

Obama, America's first half white, half black president, pointed out in the crowd the parents of Michael Brown, a black teenager killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Mo., after robbing a liquor store. Then he said at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner that things are not getting better.

"Now, I won’t comment on the investigation. I know that Michael’s family is here tonight," he said to applause. "I know that nothing any of us can say can ease the grief of losing a child so soon. But the anger and the emotion that followed his death awakened our nation once again to the reality that people in this room have long understood, which is, in too many communities around the country, a gulf of mistrust exists between local residents and law enforcement."

If Democrats Seek to "Rally Blacks" Against Police Militarization, They Might Start with the Congressional Black Caucus

The New York Times reports that, "At Risk in Senate, Democrats Seek to Rally Blacks." Specifically, the Times says

Democrats are trying to mobilize African-Americans outraged by the shooting in Ferguson, Mo., to help them retain control of at least one chamber of Congress for President Obama’s final two years in office....

“Ferguson has made it crystal clear to the African-American community and others that we’ve got to go to the polls,” said Representative John Lewis, Democrat of Georgia and a civil-rights leader. “You participate and vote, and you can have some control over what happens to your child and your country.”

Lewis might want to start with his colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus, many of whom were blase about police militarization as recently as June. As Ed Krayewski has noted, in June, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) sponsored an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 4355) that would have prevented federal giveaways of military equipment to local police departments around the country. "My amendment," explained Grayson, "would prohibit the Department of Defense from gifting excess equipment, such as aircraft—including drones—armored vehicles, grenade launchers, silencers, and bombs to local police departments. Those weapons have no place in our streets, regardless of who may be deploying them."

When Blacks Voted 80 Percent Dem, Malcolm X Called Them 'Chumps'

For giving 80 percent of their vote to the Democratic Party, black activist Malcolm X, in 1964, called black voters "political chumps."  

White voters, X said, “are so evenly divided that every time they vote, the race is so close they have to go back and count the votes all over again. Which means that any bloc, any minority that has a bloc that sticks together is in a strategic position. Either way you go, that’s who gets it.”

Yet Democrats, said Malcolm X, failed to deliver on a promised and much anticipated new civil rights bill knowing the party could still count on their blind support in the next election.
“You put them first,” said Malcolm X, “and they put you last. ‘Cause you’re a chump. A political chump! … Any time you throw your weight behind a political party that controls two-thirds of the government, and that party can’t keep the promise that it made to you during election time, and you are dumb enough to walk around continuing to identify yourself with that party -- you’re not only a chump but you’re a traitor to your race.”

What would Malcolm X say about today’s 95 percent black vote? Did the Democratic Party keep its promises to promote family stability, push education and encourage job creation?

The black community, over the last 50 years, has suffered an unparalleled breakdown in family unity. Even during slavery when marriage was illegal, a black child was more likely than today to be raised under a roof with his or her biological mother and father. According to census data, from 1890 to 1940, said economist Walter Williams, a black child was slightly more likely to grow up with married parents than a white child. 

What happened?

When President Lyndon Johnson launched the "war on poverty" in 1965, 24 percent of black babies were born to unmarried mothers. Today that number is 72 percent. Then-presidential candidate Barack Obama said in 2008: “Children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves.”

Not only has family breakdown coincided with increased government spending, but the money has not done much to reduce the rate of poverty. From 1965 until now, the government has spent $15-20 trillion to fight poverty. In 1949, the poverty rate stood at 34 percent, by 1965 it was cut in half, to 17 percent -- all before the so-called war on poverty. But after the war began in 1965, poverty began to flat line. It appears that the generous welfare system allowed women to, in essence, marry the government -- and it allowed men to abandon their financial and moral responsibility, while surrendering the dignity that comes from being a good provider. Psychologists call dependency "learned helplessness."
           
About the importance of education, Malcolm X once said, “My alma mater was books, a good library. …I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity.” What would he say about the Democratic opposition to school vouchers -- where the money would follow the student rather than the other way around?
            
Urban schools, where students are disproportionately black and brown, are simply not producing children who can read, write and compute at grade level. The drop-out rate can approach 50 percent in some urban districts. Nationwide, 10 percent of parents send their kids to private school. But in cities like Philadelphia and Chicago, 40 percent or more of teachers send their own kids to private schools.
           
Democrats don't do blacks any favor by supporting “race-based preferences” in admissions to colleges and universities. Turns out, the more a school lowers standards to achieve "diversity," the greater the chance the "diverse" student drops out.
            
More than that, Democrats have convinced blacks that but for race-based preferences, black growth would suffer. Nonsense. Respected researchers Stephan and Abigail Thernstrom wrote: "The growth of the black middle class long predates the adoption of race-conscious social policies. In some ways, indeed, the black middle class was expanding more rapidly before 1970 than after.”
            
Finally, as to the economy, then-chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., admitted: “With 14 percent (black) unemployment, if we had a white president we’d be marching around the White House. …The President knows we are going to act in deference to him in a way we wouldn’t to someone white.”
            
Democratic policies have contributed to family breakdown; maintained underperforming urban schools -- with no opt out for parents; and have promoted tax-spend-and-regulate economic policies that have resulted in a level of unemployment described as “unconscionable” by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
            
So would Malcolm X call today’s black voter a political "chump" -- or a political “traitor”?

Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) on Wednesday stood by his remark that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is an "Uncle Tom" and continued to suggest that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) opposition to President Obama is race-based.

In an interview with CNN, the Congressional Black Caucus member doubled down on his comments, first made over the weekend, that Thomas apparently "doesn’t like black people, he doesn’t like being black.” His comments were first reported by BuzzFeed.

"Well if you look at his decisions on the court, they have been adverse to the minority community, and the people I represent have a real issue with an African American not being sensitive to those issues," Thompson told Dana Bash.

Thompson cited Thomas siding with the conservative justices on the court -- of which he is a firm member -- upholding Voter ID laws and Michigan's ban on affirmative action. The court has also struck down part of the Voting Rights Act, which was first passed to prevent racial discrimination in elections.

"The people that I represent, for the most part, have a real issue with those decisions," Thompson said. "All those issues are very important and for someone in the court who's African American and not sensitive to that is a real problem."

Asked about McConnell's statement that his goal as GOP leader in the Senate was to make Obama a one-term president, Thompson wouldn't say flatly that it was racist but strongly pointed in that direction.

"I've never seen the venom put forth on another candidate or a president like I've seen with this president, and that's my opinion," Thompson said.

FLASHBACK: Ebony Magazine Hurts Black Families-- Larry Elder Confronts Mag For Discriminating Against Conservatives

Dear Ebony,
I do not have high hopes, given the way Ebony treats black non-liberals, that you will review my new book, “Dear Father, Dear Son: Two Lives, Eight Hours.” It is, in the end, about the importance of fathers – and the damage done to a child who grows up without one.
Why do I know you will ignore my book despite its examination of the most important issue facing “black America”? Your magazine treats black conservatives as if they were the enemy, that they bring nothing valid to the discussion.
Ebony magazine, a monthly staple of American black life since 1945, publishes an annual list of the 100-plus (now 150) “Most Influential Blacks in America.” Why not rename it the “Most Influential Liberal Blacks in America”?
Each year, Ebony leaves out conservative, heavyweight black intellectuals like Walter Williams, a distinguished professor of economics and former department chairman at George Mason University. In addition to his 10 books on economics and race relations, Williams writes a popular weekly syndicated column carried in about 200 papers. If another black person ran the econ department at any other major, non-historically-black college or university, I don’t know whom that would be! Yet you ignore Williams – because you think his politics hurt black people.
What if they don’t?
Williams, for example, is a leading critic of the minimum wage, a policy he and many economists argue increases unemployment. The late Milton Friedman, a Nobel Prize economics winner, called minimum wage law “one of the most, if not the most, anti-black law on the statute books.” Even if Ebony disagrees, 90 percent of all economists believe minimum wage laws increase unemployment among those with lower skills – the very people the laws purport to help.
At 14 percent black unemployment, versus 7.8 percent nationwide and 6.9 percent for whites, Williams calls this an outrage and blames left-wing policies. Even Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., the head of the Congressional Black Caucus, admitted: “As the chair of the Black Caucus, I’ve got to tell you, we are always hesitant to criticize the president. With 14 percent (black) unemployment, if we had a white president, we’d be marching around the White House. … The president knows we are going to act in deference to him in a way we wouldn’t to someone white.”
Each year, Ebony leaves out Thomas Sowell of Stanford’s Hoover Institution. He has only written some 40 books about economics, politics and race relations. His column appears in more than 300 papers, making him one of the most widely read writers in the English language. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Mamet (“Glengarry Glen Ross”) called Sowell “our greatest contemporary philosopher.”
Sowell writes that government anti-poverty programs cause more poverty while inducing a self-defeating dependency on government. “Liberals,” he recently wrote, “try to show their concern for the poor by raising the level of minimum wage laws. Yet they show no interest in hard evidence that minimum wage laws create disastrous levels of unemployment among young blacks in this country, as such laws created high unemployment rates among young people in general in European countries.
“The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals’ expansion of the welfare state. Most black children grew up in homes with two parents during all that time, but most grow up with only one parent today.”
Sportscaster Bob Costas, in commenting on the murder-suicide of a black NFL player, called it a case of the “gun culture.” No, it’s the “fatherless culture.” That player, Jovan Belcher, like so many blacks, was raised without a father.
A disproportionate amount of crime comes from homes with an AWOL dad. Today, 72 percent of blacks, 53 percent of Hispanic and 36 percent of whites are born out of wedlock. Look at the murder stats from New York City, with its population of 44 percent whites, 25 percent blacks and 29 percent Hispanics. Yet in 2011, blacks and Hispanics accounted for 91 percent of the homicide suspects. Unless we are prepared to say that blacks and Hispanics are genetically predisposed to commit crime, it is only sensible to ask what the devil is going on here!
And each year, Ebony leaves out Clarence Thomas, who is one of only nine sitting Supreme Court justices. You leave him out, as you do Williams and Sowell, because you don’t like their politics.
How dare you discount these men? Liberal policies of the last 50 years bear no responsibility for causing the nation’s black out-of-wedlock birth rate to go from 25 percent in 1965 to 72 percent today? However you feel about “black conservatives,” their viewpoint deserves airing.
Ebony does the black community a disservice by ignoring it.
I once interviewed Kweisi Mfume, then the head of the NAACP. I asked this question: “As between the presence of white racism and the absence of blacks fathers, which poses the bigger threat to the black community?” Without hesitation, Mfume said, “The absence of black fathers.”

Where Do Public School Teachers Send Own Kids?

Guy walks into a restaurant. Says to the waitress, "I'd like some scrambled eggs and some kind words." She brings the eggs. The guy smiles, "Now how about the kind words?" Waitress whispers, "Don't eat the eggs."
This brings us to the fact that urban public school teachers are about two times more likely than non-teachers to send their own children to private schools. In other words, many public school teachers whisper to parents, "Don't eat the eggs."
About 11 percent of all parents -- nationwide, rural and urban -- send their children to private schools. The numbers are much higher in urban areas. One study found that in Philadelphia a staggering 44 percent of public school teachers send their own kids to private schools. In Cincinnati and Chicago, 41 and 39 percent of public school teachers, respectively, pay for a private school education for their children. In Rochester, New York, it's 38 percent. In Baltimore it's 35 percent, San Francisco is 34 percent and New York-Northeastern New Jersey is 33 percent. In Los Angeles nearly 25 percent of public school teachers send their kids to private school versus 16 percent of Angelenos who do so.
The study, conducted in 2004 by the Fordham Institute, said: "These findings ... are apt to be embarrassing for teacher unions, considering those organizations' political animus toward assisting families to select among schools. But these results do not surprise most practicing teachers to whom we speak. ... The data have shown the same basic pattern since we first happened upon them two decades ago: Urban public school teachers are more apt to send their own children to private schools than is the general public. One might say this shows how conservative teachers are. They continue doing what they've always done. Or it might indicate that they have long been discerning connoisseurs of education. ...
"The middle class will tolerate a lot -- disorder, decay, and dismay, an unwholesome environment, petty crime, potholes, chicanery and rudeness. One thing, however, that middle class parents will not tolerate is bad schools for their children. To escape them, they will pay out-of-pocket or vote with their feet. That is what discerning teachers do."
What about members of Congress? Where do they send their own children?
A 2007 Heritage Foundation study found that 37 percent of representatives and 45 percent of senators with school-age children sent their own kids to private school. Of the members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus with school-age children, 38 percent sent them to private school. Of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus with school-age children, 52 percent sent them to private school.
The ex-mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, was asked why he did not have his own kids in public school despite his strong advocacy of public education. Villaraigosa, whose wife was a public school teacher, said, "I'm doing like every parent does. I'm going to put my kids in the best school I can. My kids were in a neighborhood public school until just this year. We've decided to put them in a Catholic school. We've done that because we want our kids to have the best education they can. If I can get that education in a public school, I'll do it, but I won't (SET ITAL)sacrifice(END ITAL) (emphasis added) my children any more than I could ask you to do the same."
When he got elected president, Barack Obama and his wife made a big display of looking into D.C. public schools for his two daughters to attend. But the Obamas chose Sidwell Friends, the elite private school whose alums include Chelsea Clinton. Obama's own mother sent the then-10-year-old to live with her parents -- so he could attend Punahou Academy, the most exclusive prep school on the island. In fact, from Punahou to Occidental (a private college in Los Angeles) to Columbia (where he completed college) to Harvard Law, Obama is a product of private education.
So how does this square with Obama's opposition to the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program that offered a voucher for the children of participating parents? It doesn't.
Here's what Obama's Office of Management and Budget said about the program: "Rigorous evaluation over several years demonstrates that the D.C. program has not yielded improved student achievement by its scholarship recipients compared to other students in D.C."
Tell that to the educator/consultant the Department of Education hired to evaluate the program. Testifying before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Patrick Wolf, a University of Arkansas education policy professor who spent more than 10 years evaluating school choice programs in D.C., Milwaukee, New York and Dayton, Ohio, said, "In my opinion, by ... boosting high school graduation rates and generating a wealth of evidence suggesting that students also benefited in reading achievement, the D.C. OSP has accomplished what few educational interventions can claim: It markedly improved important education outcomes for low-income inner-city students."
President Barack Obama calls education "the civil rights issue of our time." Yet, his opposition to K-12 education vouchers guarantees that many of America's kids will sit in back of the bus.
