MRC's Brent Bozell Schools CNN Host On Utter Lack Of Obama Scandal News

Media Research Center president Brent Bozell appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday to discuss liberal tilt in midterm election coverage (the first tilt being the lack of coverage on ABC, CBS, and NBC as Democrats looked like they were in trouble in the polls). 

CNN host Brian Stelter tried to suggest Bozell and President Obama could agree that there is a bias, since Obama thinks there is a bias toward covering conflict.

MRC:  Liberal Media's Double Standard on Bush/Obama Midterm Polls

 "When this administration is falling apart, the media should give it the exact same coverage they gave to George Bush," Media Research Center founder and president Brent Bozell told Fox News Channel substitute host Stuart Varney on the September 8 Your World w/Neil Cavuto. "If you go back to 2006, to the Bush years... night after night after night, a big part of the narrative was how Bush's support is collapsing," Bozell noted, but now in 2014, a critical midterm election year where Democrats could lose the Senate, for a full eight months, there were just "two mentions, not a single full story" on Obama's plummeting poll numbers. What's more, Bozell noted, a new MRC study shows that while in the first eight months of 2006, "33 times the media ran stories about how [Iraq] was unpopular," compared to zero stories devoted to the unpopularity of Mr. Obama's signature achievement, the ObamaCare health care overhaul.

No Shock: Film Critics Hate 'America' --"America" not fond of film critics, either

Dinesh D’Souza shocked the movie world in 2012 with his anti-Obama documentary "2016," which became the second highest-grossing documentary in U.S. movie history. On July 2, he unveiled his new documentary called "America: Imagine the World Without Her." It has already grossed $5 million in its first week.. One fictional competitor, the abortion-promoting comedy “Obvious Child,” barely grossed $2 million in its first month.

But there’s a more dramatic contrast. Film critics are supposed to judge art, but their liberal politics are smeared all over their reviews. Metacritic.com collects and analyzes movie reviews. “Obvious Child” drew a high Metacritic.com score of 75 (out of 100). For D’Souza’s “America,” it was a ridiculously low score of 14.

Then take the highest-grossing documentary in our history, Michael Moore’s 2004 hatchet job “Fahrenheit 911." Editor & Publisher magazine reported nine of ten newspaper movie critics recommended the film.

The Washington Post gushed over Moore’s prankumentary. "Its trajectory is guided with pinpoint accuracy," wrote Desson Thomson, and it "obviously skews facts to its own advantage, but that's what the game is all about. What counts is the emotional power of Moore's persuasion."

“Fahrenheit” was loaded with bizarre and unproven charges against Bush, most offensively suggesting the Bush family and Osama bin Laden’s family were in cahoots over 9-11. Moore concluded the film with a conspiracy theory: “In principle, the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects.” All of that was just fine.

But when it came to the new D’Souza film, the same newspaper’s Mark Jenkins suddenly found perceived fact-skewing and one-sidedness to be just awful. “‘America’ is less successful as a debate, since it isn’t one. D’Souza controls the conversation, and thus goes unchallenged when he tries to make real-world points with make-believe scenarios.”

Then there’s The New York Times. In 2004, Dana Stevens wrote that while the facts of “Fahrenheit 911" could be debated, ”it should first of all be appreciated as a high-spirited and unruly exercise in democratic self-expression.” As for D’Souza’s self-expression? The Times critics have yet to bother reviewing the movie.

The movie’s only questionable note is the egocentric turn at the end as D’Souza shows himself in handcuffs and notes his own prosecution for making $20,000 in straw donations in a U.S. Senate race in New York. D’Souza has a point about selective prosecution under Obama, but it loses its punch when the accuser has admitted his guilt.

Obama's Bad Poll Numbers--Poll? What Poll? --Double standard strikes again

 In March 2006, CBS News announced that President George W. Bush had stumbled into a “record low” approval rating of 34 percent. All the other networks jumped on the poll. CNN was reporting the number every hour on the hour. The survey confirmed their suspicions. The wheels on the Bush presidency had come off.

 Last week, ABC and The Washington Post found Barack Obama is "facing the worst poll numbers of his presidency,” with an approval rating of 41 percent, and 52 percent disapproving. It's another administration on political life support. ABC offered its own survey a mere 18 seconds of attention from “Good Morning America” on April 29, and nothing on its own news that night. The others said nothing.

 ABC morning anchor Amy Robach noted: "And President Obama is returning to Washington today, facing the worst poll numbers of his presidency. His approval rating has dropped to 41 percent, mostly because of the economy." That was the alpha and omega.

 They had no time for anything else, including the other numbers. ABC’s website expanded a bit. "Registered voters by 53-39 percent in the national survey say they'd rather see the Republicans in control of Congress as a counterbalance to Obama’s policies than a Democratic-led Congress to help support him." How was that not part of the story, in either the ABC morning or evening TV news reports?

 ABC's poll was no fluke. Shortly thereafter NBC News and The Wall Street Journal found Obama’s approval rating at 44 percent, 50 percent disapproving, still awful. NBC morning anchor Natalie Morales spent only 46 seconds on the poll numbers, this time giving it NBC's shameless Team Obama spin. “President Obama's popularity is up slightly, and so is his embattled health care law, this according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. The President's approval rating is at 44 percent. That's up three points since March. Still, though, 50 percent of those polled disapprove of the job the President is doing.”
