By Washington Times, Aug 22, 2016

Few would be surprised if President Obama took aim at climate change during his visit Tuesday to survey the Louisiana flooding, which is why global warming skeptics are already raining on his parade.

The climate blame began in earnest last week with former Vice President Al Gore, who described the deluge as an example of “one of the manifestations of climate change.” Those remarks were followed by a rash of supportive articles.

“Flooding in the South looks a lot like climate change,” said an Aug. 16 headline on an article in The New York Times.

Al Gore Criticizes Obama On Climate Change And 'Insane' Arctic Drilling

By Suzanne Goldenberg , July 16, 2015
The Guardian

The former US vice-president and climate champion Al Gore has made a rare criticism of Barack Obama as Royal Dutch Shell prepares to drill an exploratory well in the Arctic Ocean, denouncing the venture as “insane” and calling for a ban on all oil and gas activity in the polar region.

With Shell planning to begin drilling in the oil-rich Chukchi Sea within days, Gore said in an interview with the Guardian that Obama was wrong to ever allow drilling in the Arctic.

It was the only real point of criticism from Gore of Obama’s efforts to fight climate change, at home and through a global deal to be negotiated in Paris at the end of the year.

Al Gore: ‘Too Early’ To Back Hillary Clinton

By Emily Smith, Jun. 26, 2015, Page Six

Al Gore declined to back Hillary Clinton for president when asked who he thinks would be next in the White House.

When questioned by WPP founder Sir Martin Sorrell at the Cannes Lions festival of creativity about whom he would back for 2016, Gore — Bill Clinton’s vice president from 1993 to 2001 —notably didn’t take the chance to praise Hillary.

In a packed Cannes Lions session Friday, Sorrell asked Gore, “Would you refuse to answer the question [who will be the next president of the United States]?”

Gore responded, “I wouldn’t refuse to answer that question, I would try to cleverly dodge the question … I would say it’s actually too early.”

Gore merely smiled, but didn’t comment further, after Sorrell added, “I think Hillary will win and it would be great to have a female president of the most powerful nation on the planet.”

Gore has reportedly had a complicated relationship with the Clintons since 2000. Political insiders speculate Gore may be remaining neutral for now but would eventually back the Democratic nominee.

Dispute Between AL Gore And Current TV To Go To Trial

By Randall Chase, Feb. 3, Associated Press

A trial will be needed to resolve a dispute between former Vice President Al Gore and Al Jazeera America over tens of millions of dollars held in escrow as part of the news network's $500 million acquisition of Current TV, a Delaware judge ruled Tuesday.

Attorneys for Gore and former Current Media CEO Joel Hyatt had urged Vice Chancellor Sam Glasscock II to rule in their favor without a trial, saying Al Jazeera is not entitled to $65 million being held in escrow and that it should be returned to Current shareholders.

"The case should end now, not at trial," Attorney Greg Varallo told Glasscock.

The judge denied the motion, however, citing factual disputes regarding language in the merger agreement.

"It can be interpreted in two different ways," said Glasscock, who also said factual determinations will be needed on Al Jazeera's claims to the escrow money and whether its actions have prejudiced Gore and Hyatt.

Freeman Dyson, Professor of Physics
By Larry Elder, Apr. 20, 2014

This piece is about the power of the Axis of Indoctrination, which consists of Media, Academia and Hollywood. In this case, we focus on the power of Hollywood -- and how it not just reflects, but shapes perception and opinion on culture and politics.

We start with a man named Freeman Dyson. Who is Freeman Dyson? How smart is he? And why has this Obama-supporting liberal become one of the world’s leading “climate change skeptics”?

Here’s what The New York Times magazine said, in 2009, about this world-renowned physicist:

“Dyson is a scientist whose intelligence is revered by other scientists -- William Press, former deputy director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and now a professor of computer science at the University of Texas, calls him ‘infinitely smart.’ Dyson -- a mathematics prodigy who came to this country at 23 and right away contributed seminal work to physics by unifying quantum and electrodynamic theory -- not only did path-breaking science of his own; he also witnessed the development of modern physics, thinking alongside most of the luminous figures of the age, including Einstein, Richard Feynman, Niels Bohr, Enrico Fermi, Hans Bethe, Edward Teller, J. Robert Oppenheimer and Edward Witten, the ‘high priest of string theory’ whose office at the institute is just across the hall from Dyson’s.”

You get the point.

At 90, Dyson’s mind remains vital. A few years ago, he began to examine the widely accepted notion that man-made “global warming” or man-affected “climate change” represents a threat to our existence. He soon became what many call a “climate-change skeptic.” The Times said:

“it was [in 2005] that Dyson began publicly stating his doubts about climate change. Speaking at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University, Dyson announced that 'all the fuss about global warming is grossly exaggerated.' Since then he has only heated up his misgivings, declaring in a 2007 interview with Salon.com that “the fact that the climate is getting warmer doesn’t scare me at all” and writing in an essay for The New York Review of Books, the left-leaning publication that is to gravitas what the Beagle was to Darwin, that climate change has become an ‘obsession’ -- the primary article of faith for ‘a worldwide secular religion’ known as environmentalism.

“Among those he considers true believers, Dyson has been particularly dismissive of Al Gore, whom Dyson calls climate change’s ‘chief propagandist,’ and James Hansen, the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York and an adviser to Gore’s film, ‘An Inconvenient Truth.’ Dyson accuses them of relying too heavily on computer-generated climate models that foresee a Grand Guignol of imminent world devastation as icecaps melt, oceans rise and storms and plagues sweep the earth, and he blames the pair’s ‘lousy science’ for ‘distracting public attention’ from ‘more serious and more immediate dangers to the planet.’”

Dyson is married. His wife, accompanied by him, goes to the theatre to see Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth.” Her reaction? Did she immediately dismiss it as propaganda? After all, she alone is in unique position to listen to and benefit from the musings on the subject from one of the world’s smartest minds, right?

But, no, she felt Dyson had been deceptive:

“A particularly distressed member of that public was Dyson’s own wife, Imme, who, after seeing the film in a local theater with Dyson when it was released in 2006, looked at her husband out on the sidewalk and, with visions of drowning polar bears still in her eyes, reproached him: ‘Everything you told me is wrong!’ she cried.

“’The polar bears will be fine,’ he assured her.”

If a one-sided, propagandistic documentary by a grade-D science student can, in 100 minutes, undo the brilliant Dyson’s influence on his own wife, Lord help the rest of us.

Arctic Ice Cap Expands By 41% In 2 Yrs; Gore Thought It Might Be Gone By Now

By Tom Blumner, Aug. 30, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Ice, ice baby. That's what they have a lot more of in the Arctic.

The UK Daily Mail, one of those British tabloids the left has despised going back to the Clinton administration and its paranoia about a right-wing media conspiracy, reports from authoritative sources — the kind the U.S. establishment press uses when it seems to support the hoax known as human-caused global warming — that the Arctic ice cap has expanded rapidly in the past two years. In doing so, it has made up all of what was lost between 2009 and 2012 with a slight margin to spare. Seven years ago, former Vice President and leading global warming false alarmist Al Gore predicted that "It could be completely gone." Excerpts follow the jump (bolds are mine):

Myth of arctic meltdown: Stunning satellite images show summer ice cap is thicker and covers 1.7million square kilometres MORE than 2 years ago...despite Al Gore's prediction it would be ICE-FREE by now

- Seven years after former US Vice-President Al Gore's warning, Arctic ice cap has expanded for second year in row

- An area twice the size of Alaska - America's biggest state - was open water two years ago and is now covered in ice

- These satellite images taken from University of Illinois's Cryosphere project show ice has become more concentrated

The speech by former US Vice-President Al Gore was apocalyptic. ‘The North Polar ice cap is falling off a cliff,’ he said. ‘It could be completely gone in summer in as little as seven years. Seven years from now.’

Those comments came in 2007 as Mr Gore accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for his campaigning on climate change.

But seven years after his warning, The Mail on Sunday can reveal that, far from vanishing, the Arctic ice cap has expanded for the second year in succession – with a surge, depending on how you measure it, of between 43 and 63 per cent since 2012.

Al Gore
By P.J. Gladnick, Jun. 29, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Imagine if in America there were a coal mining magnate as famous as Donald Trump who was the founder of a political party named after himself (Trump United Party?). In addition, this well known person would be strongly opposed to a carbon tax. Obviously such a person would be considered an enemy by environmentalists. Well, think of the shock if none other than Al Gore held a friendly joint press conference with such a person. Many would suspect that money was the motive for such a strange alliance.

Guess what? Something like this happened last week in Australia where Al Gore appeared with Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer at a press conference. Although Palmer, a founder of the Palmer United Party in Australia, opposed the soon to be repealed carbon tax, Al Gore suddenly and mysteriously found common ground with him. Naturally the Australian press found Gore's new-found friendship quite suspicious. First we have a report from Annabel Crabb of The Age in Australia at the shock of the people there at seeing Gore and Palmer together on stage:

An image, once seen, cannot be unseen. Just ask Anthony Wiener, the US congressman whose amateur photography of his own wedding tackle – optimistically dispatched over social media to a Seattle college student – brought about his untimely political downfall.

Used correctly, an image can fill in the gaps between spoken words. And never has that been more richly proved than on Wednesday night, when Clive Palmer managed to inveigle former US vice-president Al Gore into sharing a platform with him and thereby managed – for a few magical hours – somehow to convey the impression of himself as a climate messiah.

The presence of Gore, surprising enough in itself, supplied a wordless assurance to any observer; this must be a big announcement on climate change policy, because it was made in the presence of the biggest global name in climate campaigning, and surely he would not be such a prawn as to let himself be drawn into a scam?

And after the shock of seeing these two highly unlikely allies together, come the suspicion by a Liberal MP member (Liberal Party in Australia is conservative) in The Australian that a strong hypocritical profit motive on the part of Al Gore was involved.

LIBERAL MP and climate change sceptic Dennis Jensen claims Al Gore will personally profit from Clive Palmer’s new climate policy, saying the Nobel laureate “would do anything and say anything for a buck”.

Dr. Jensen also likened the former US vice-president and leading climate activist to a member of a fictional, profit-obsessed alien race in the Star Trek movie and TV series.

Mr. Gore last night commended the Palmer United Party’s policy of abolishing Labor’s world-leading carbon tax, while retaining the Renewable Energy Target and Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

Dr. Jensen, speaking in parliament, said the joint media announcement proved Mr Gore “would do anything and say anything for a buck”.

“One question that must be asked … is what investments Al Gore might have that might prove lucrative by retaining the RET and the CEFC,” Dr Jensen said, under the protection of parliamentary privilege.

“Investigation of these schemes and what organisations are getting advantage, and whether Gore has shares in those companies, would prove no doubt that Gore has a pecuniary vested interest in those schemes.”

Dr. Jensen claimed Mr Gore’s personal carbon footprint was “probably larger than a number of small towns in some parts of the world”.

“Start believing Al Gore when he actually lives the carbon-dioxide-constrained lifestyle he advocates for everyone else,” Dr. Jensen told parliament.

“He lives in a mansion in Tennessee where he consumes 20 times as much energy as the average American household, and Americans are not renowned for being parsimonious in their energy use. But that is only one of many houses that Al Gore has.

“Then there is Gore’s jetting around the world, once again a huge carbon footprint.”

Dr. Jensen told parliament Mr. Gore sold his television network, Current TV, to the Qatar state-owned satellite news network, Al-Jazeera.

“He was paid in petrodollars, despite all of his raging against the evils of the fossil fuel industry, around $70m profit. A nice little earner,” Dr. Jensen said.

“Gore is not really earnest enough about the evils related to global warming to forgo profit, however hypocritical that makes him.

“For those who watch Star Trek, there is no one he reminds me of more than the Ferengi species, where profit is the first, last and only important factor.”

Dr. Jensen, a former CSIRO research scientist, accused Mr Gore of telling “blatant untruths” about climate change.

“He is either science illiterate, or he is quite happy to spew whatever unscientific climate nonsense he needs to further enrich himself,” he told parliament.

p.s. "Wedding tackle?" Must file that away for future reference.

Spring commencement season is here: A time for colleges and universities to invite notable alumni, politicians, journalists and entertainers to address the graduating class of 2014.

And like most years, universities have invited a disproportionately high number of Democrats.

Democratic speakers outnumber Republicans 2-1 this year, according to an analysis by Campus Reform. Ten of President Obama’s 16 Cabinet members will give commencement addresses. Barack and Michelle Obama will both speak, as Vice President Biden, former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore.

The number of former Republican presidents and vice presidents schedule to speak: Zero.

Invited Democratic senators and political operatives also outnumber Republicans.

Republican speakers are also outnumbered in branches of government where they actually hold a majority. Republicans hold vastly more governorships than Democrats, and yet 11 Democratic governors will speak, compared with just 6 Republicans.

Overall, Campus Reform found that Democratic speakers outnumbers Republicans 56-26.

Al Gore
By Tim Graham, Apr. 18, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Weasel Zippers has the latest superiority dance from Al Gore, in a speech at the University of Hawaii.

"Ultimately, we are going to win this thing," he said, one of many statements met with hearty applause from the Hawaiians, reported the Civil Beat. He displayed “a Bell Curve showing the number of hotter days over the past 80 years grow alarmingly disproportionate to the number of cooler days and days with average temperatures.”

"The way we have to respond to this is going to require a set of changes that are beyond our routine," he said, his voice growing to a shout. "I know that we are capable of that. Our way of life is at stake, our grandchildren are at stake, the future of civilization is at stake."

But Gore cited two "game changers" in recent years that will help. The first is the growing realization from even climate-change deniers that something seems to be strange with the weather. The second is the exponential growth in photovoltaic solar panels, driven largely by consumer demand for lower prices.

Howard Stern, who backed such left-wingers as Clinton, Gore, and Kerry, has finally had enough of their shenanigans it seems.  On his radio show, he relayed to listeners what he had already told his ubber-liberal manager:

“I have vowed, I will never vote for a Democrat again.  No matter who they are.  I don’t care if God becomes a Democrat.  These Democrats are communists.  This is communism.  This is gangsterism.  This is crazy.”

Finally!  I wonder if Stern will be labeled a racist now that he has called out Obama’s Democrats for what they are – communists.

Al Gore might need to dust off his projector. The creative forces behind the Oscar-winning environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth are hatching plans for a sequel to the film that raised global awareness of climate change. "We have had conversations," producer Lawrence Bender tells THR. "We've met; we've discussed. If we are going to make a movie, we want it to have an impact."

The first film certainly did. Released in 2006 by Paramount and Jeff Skoll's Participant Media, the Davis Guggenheim-directed doc grossed nearly $50 million worldwide and helped propel Gore, its narrator, to a 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. But Bender believes that during the ensuing years, the fossil-fuel industry has changed the dialogue with a misinformation campaign. "They did a really good job of pushing back and confusing people," he says. "Some people actually believe global warming doesn't exist."

Another week has gone by and, like clockwork, some more hilariously awful Common Core math lessons have oozed out of the woodwork.
This time, reports EAGnews.org and Liberty Unyielding, the culprit is Illuminations, an outfit created by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and financially supported by the Verizon Foundation.
The Common Core-aligned lessons on offer at the Illuminations website are nothing if not illuminating.
Take, for example, the lesson plan entitled “How Could That Happen?” This math lesson for middle schoolers requires a math teacher to “engage students in a class discussion about whether or not they feel the results of” the 2000 presidential election were “‘fair.’”

By Carol D. Leonnig, Oct. 10, 2012, Washington Post

Before a rapt audience, Al Gore flashed slides on a giant screen bearing the logos of 11 clean energy companies he predicted could help slow climate change.

“We can’t wait. . . . We have a planetary emergency,” the former vice president told industry leaders and scientists at the 2008 conference. “Here are just a few of the investments that I personally think make sense.”

Today, several of those clean tech firms are thriving, including a solar energy start-up and a Spanish utility company that has dotted rural America with hundreds of wind turbines.
Al Gore is thriving, too.

The man who was within sight of the presidency 12 years ago has transformed himself, becoming perhaps the world’s most renowned crusader on climate change and a highly successful green-tech investor.

Just before leaving public office in 2001, Gore reported assets of less than $2 million; today, his wealth is estimated at $100 million.

Gore charted this path by returning to his longtime passion — clean energy. He benefited from a powerful resume and a constellation of friends in the investment world and in Washington. And four years ago, his portfolio aligned smoothly with the agenda of an incoming administration and its plan to spend billions in stimulus funds on alternative energy.

The recovering politician was pushing the right cause at the perfect time.
Fourteen green-tech firms in which Gore invested received or directly benefited from more than $2.5 billion in loans, grants and tax breaks, part of President Obama’s historic push to seed a U.S. renewable-energy industry with public money.

Over the course of his metamorphosis, Gore became an environmentalist hero with release of his award-winning film and book warning of carbon emissions dangerously overheating the planet. He founded an investment firm devoted in part to backing green-minded companies and later partnered with a leading venture capital firm to invest in clean energy start-ups.

“We have work to do!” Gore recently exhorted an audience while showing his trademark slide show about melting polar ice caps and the urgent need to stop burning so much oil and gas.

That declaration, his friends say, captures his obsession — he’s unable to rest in his self-appointed mission to save the planet.

“Maybe there’s someone as knowledgeable and passionate about climate change. I just haven’t met that person,” said Orin Kramer, a leading New York hedge fund manager, friend of Gore and top Democratic campaign bundler. “His schedule is intensely busy, and my sense is he lives a life that profoundly reflects his values and passions.”

In building his new career, Gore’s name has become ensnared in a broader criticism from Republicans, who put him among political allies they say the Obama administration has unjustly enriched with stimulus and clean-energy funding.
