Mind-Blowing Temperature Fraud At NOAA

July 27, 2015 Real Science

The measured US temperature data from USHCN shows that the US is on a long-term cooling trend. But the reported temperatures from NOAA show a strong warming trend.

They accomplish this through a spectacular hockey stick of data tampering, which corrupts the US temperature trend by almost two degrees.

The biggest component of this fraud is making up data. Almost half of all reported US temperature data is now fake. They fill in missing rural data with urban data to create the appearance of non-existent US warming.

By Associated Press, Jun. 7, 2015

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York man who sought help from a fortuneteller to fix a romantic relationship says she scammed him out of more than $700,000.

Phone Company ‘Outraged’ By Fraud, Abuse In ‘Obamaphone’ Program

Brian Maass, Jan. 26, 2015, CBS4

Although the Lifeline wireless program has been around since 2005 and started under President George W. Bush, it ballooned under President Obama and the phones are often referred to as Obamaphones.

But multiple times a CBS4 producer and reporter found phone agents in Denver circumventing strict government rules to ensure that only the truly needy get the free phones.

Clay Aiken Donors: Campaign Turned Into Reality Show

P.J. Gladnick, Nov. 7, 2014, NewsBusters

Clay Aiken has learned that you don't have to actually be a winner to come out ahead. He learned that lesson when he came in second on "American Idol" and was launched into fame while the actual winner of that contest is pretty much forgotten. He seems to have applied that lesson to his recent congressional campaign as well. Aiken lost in a landslide but not to worry, he is about to star in a TV reality show about that campaign. Unfortunately for Clay, some of the good footage of him hanging out with celebrity donors at a September 30 fundraiser in Los Angeles might not be able to be used. The donors are now feeling "duped" by Aiken according to Variety.

By Larry Elder, Jul. 30, 2014

When former long-time Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alarcon, and his wife, were found guilty on voter fraud and perjury charges, local publications, of course, were all over the story.

After all, the one-time assistant to five-term Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, Alarcon served for years in the California State Senate, the State Assembly, and Los Angeles City Council. But the one-time L.A. mayoral candidate was charged with voter fraud and perjury, accused of illegally living outside of his district and lying about his true residence.

The Los Angeles Times, the Daily News and the Los Angeles Business Journal all reported on his conviction. But none -- not one -- of the three publications, at least in their online editions, noted Alarcon's party affiliation: Democrat.

Look at the L.A. Times. Its headline reads: "Former councilman Richard Alarcon, wife guilty of voter fraud, perjury." In an article with 11 paragraphs, the paper could not find the space to squeeze in even a tiny little reference to his party.

Now contrast this with an L.A. Times article about the conviction of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, a Republican. The headline and sub-headline refer to Delay's Republican affiliation -- twice. "Former House Majority Leader Tom Delay convicted of money laundering: The Republican was accused of conspiring to funnel $190,000 in donations to GOP candidates in Texas in 2002 elections. He faces five to 99 years in prison, plus two to 20 years for a conspiracy count.”

The short, 12-paragraph body of the article manages to mention Delay’s “Republican” affiliation:

Republican U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay … was accused of conspiring to illegally funnel $190,000 in corporate campaign donations to Republican candidates. …

“In 1994, DeLay was part of the "Republican revolution" that won control of the House for the first time in 40 years. He then got the job of House majority whip, making him the chamber's third-ranking Republican. …

“DeLay resigned from the House in 2006 after being linked to Jack Abramoff, a former Republican lobbyist snared in a federal investigation of influence peddling on Capitol Hill. Two of DeLay's former aides pleaded guilty to corruption. DeLay denied any wrongdoing. …

“During the 2006 congressional election, Democrats criticized DeLay's actions, saying that they illustrated a pattern of corruption in the Republican-led Congress. Democrats won the 2006 election and took back control of Congress.”

Count them.

In addition to the two headline references to the Republican Party, the article cites DeLay's party or his interaction with another "Republican" six additional times.

The most charitable Alarcon explanation is this. California has so few Republicans, none elected statewide, that Democrats are the only ones left around here to corrupt.

Felons cannot vote in the United States, but a record can’t stop someone from running for a seat in Congress. Ex-Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards might be the latest lawmaker to hit the campaign trail after a scandal, but he is hardly the first.
Welcome to U.S. News’ "Convicts for Congress: a brief history."
Former Rep. Mel Reynolds, D-Ill.: He was a rising star in the Democratic Party, a Harvard graduate and former Rhodes Scholar when he won his bid for Congress in 1992. However, Rep. Mel Reynolds’ congressional career was brief. In 1994, just a few months before his first run for re-election, the congressman was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage campaign volunteer. While the scandal overshadowed his race, Reynolds denied the charges and kept campaigning. He ran unopposed for his seat and won re-election. A year later, Reynolds was convicted of obstruction of justice, sexual assault and solicitation of child pornography. He resigned from the House of Representatives and served more than seven years in prison on the sex abuse charges and a series of fraud convictions. President Bill Clinton commuted the end of his fraud sentence.

By Joe B. Pollak, Breitbart.com

Rev. Jesse Jackson appeared on Fox News' Special Report on Thursday to comment on the passing of Nelson Mandela--and to exploit Mandela's death for his own campaign against "voter suppression," i.e. laws requiring photo ID at the voting booth on Election Day.

Unfortunately for Rev. Jackson, South Africa requires photo ID to vote. South Africa's Electoral Commission notes in its FAQ section that "you can vote in national and provincial elections as long as you have your valid, green, bar-coded ID and you are registered to vote." The ID includes a photograph.

That does not prevent fraud. While in South Africa, this reporter has personally witnessed members of the ruling party handing out photo ID books on Election Day. So even photo ID is not a panacea. But it certainly makes fraud more difficult--something Mandela understood.

Americans For Tax Reform By Justin Sykes
A report released by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Inspector General has found that EPA employees have improperly used federal charge cards to purchase everything from gym memberships to gift cards. The report indicated that over 90 percent of the sampled transactions were for prohibited, improper, or erroneous purchases, all paid for by American taxpayers. Ironically, Senate Democrats Monday night carried on an all-night filibuster in the hopes of generating even more power and funding for the EPA.
In order to compile the report, the Office of the Inspector General obtained a spreadsheet of 67,000 EPA transactions from Fiscal Year (FY) 2012, and randomly selected 69 transactions. They additionally selected 11 transactions that seemed inappropriate because of the name of the merchant involved. For instance, some transactions were with merchants listed as dance halls, child care organizations, music venues and theatres. Of the 80 transactions sampled, 75 were for prohibited, improper, or erroneous purchases. The 80 transactions sampled totaled $152,602 and $79,254 (52%) of which were for prohibited, improper, or erroneous purchases.
The report outlined nine specific internal control oversight issues, ranging from the approval of prohibited transactions by EPA officials to the outright failure to maintain transaction records. Of the primary internal control oversight issues, four were particularly outrageous, and the report found that of the transactions sampled:
1.35% of cardholders did not verify the receipt of purchases;
2.30% of cardholders did not obtain required approval prior for purchases;
3.25% of cardholders did not obtain funding prior to purchases; and
4.18% of approving officials never reviewed purchase logs.
