Carmelo Anthony Pleads With Baltimore Protesters In Moving Instagram Post

NBA star Carmelo Anthony took to Instagram late Monday, as tensions continued to escalate in Baltimore, urging protesters to "build our city up not tear it down."

"To see my city in a State of Emergency is just shocking. We need to protect our city, not destroy it," the New York Knicks player wrote.

Anthony's words come after days of unrest in Baltimore stemming from the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old Baltimore resident, who died on April 19 from a spinal injury while in police custody. His funeral was held Monday.

Protests escalated over the weekend to such a degree that fans attending the Baltimore Orioles game were instructed to stay within the stadium on Saturday. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan issued a state of emergency Monday evening as rioters burned police cars and a pharmacy and threw bricks, the Associated Press reported.

Gallup: 'New Numerical Low' For Obamacare

Just 37 percent approve of the Affordable Care Act, 1 percentage point less than the previous low recorded in January, Gallup found in a new survey released Monday.

The pollster notes the approval results are a “new numerical low” for Obamacare.

The second enrollment season kicked off on Saturday, with minor snags; however, enthusiasm for the law remains underwhelming. A majority of Americans disapprove of Obamacare, at 56 percent — a new high, Gallup said.

“Governor, good to see you …” Kelly began the interview.

However, Kelly did bring up the gaffe later in her program on two occasions.

Condoleezza Rice slammed the Obama administration’s handling of Iraq and America’s lack of strength on the world stage, saying that “nobody listens” when the U.S. isn’t leading.

“What we’re seeing is that when the United States steps back and speaks softly, nobody listens,” the former secretary of state said in an interview with Fox News that aired Monday.

“Americans also don’t like the world that they get when the United States is not deeply engaged and deeply involved,” Rice continued, pointing to beheadings carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the recent attack in the Canadian parliament and tensions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Bill Maher Does Not Flip A District

Bill Maher’s “flip a district” campaign failed to toss Republican Minnesota Rep. John Kline from his House seat.

“I am humbled and honored to once again serve Minnesotans in the 2nd District for the next two years,” Kline tweeted late Tuesday evening.

With nearly 70 percent of precincts reporting, Kline was leading his opponent, Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party candidate Mike Obermueller by 20 points — 57 to 37 percent, the Associated Press reported.

Maher responded to Kline’s victory on Wednesday.

 “Well, i guess we picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue. And flipping Republicans. Enjoy it John Kline, at least people are on to U now,” Maher tweeted.

The host of HBO’s “Real Time” took to Twitter on Tuesday as well to urge voters, and specifically college students, to show up and cast a ballot.
