Sen. Durbin Built A Wall For Estrada & Gonzales, Shoved Condi Rice To The Back Of The Bus

Sen. Dick Durbin

Ah, politics. Such a lovely game of egos, manipulation of facts, and dishonesty.

Remember when the Senate fought and successfully stopped the president’s judicial nominee over his ethnicity? They didn’t claim racism, of course — instead, a memo said they merely opposed his nomination because being Hispanic would give the president and his party electoral and judicial advantage.

But we all know the reason. Ethnicism and racism were clearly the motives.

That was back in 2001, when Senator Dick Durbin and other Democrats stopped Miguel Estrada from becoming a judge. They feared his possible nomination to the Supreme Court, as well as the public image of a Republican nominating a Hispanic.

Condi: The World Isn’t Listening To The U.S.

Lucy McCalmont, Nov. 10, 2014, Politico

Condoleezza Rice slammed the Obama administration’s handling of Iraq and America’s lack of strength on the world stage, saying that “nobody listens” when the U.S. isn’t leading.

“What we’re seeing is that when the United States steps back and speaks softly, nobody listens,” the former secretary of state said in an interview with Fox News that aired Monday.

“Americans also don’t like the world that they get when the United States is not deeply engaged and deeply involved,” Rice continued, pointing to beheadings carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, the recent attack in the Canadian parliament and tensions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President George W. Bush with
Secretary of State and
National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice
By Jeff Crouere, May 11, 2014, Townhall.com

Liberals are always preaching the values of diversity and inclusion. Regrettably, such platitudes are just rhetoric, because upon closer examination liberals hate diversity.

As evidence, just examine some recent and disturbing activities on the campus of Rutgers University. After former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice was invited to give the commencement address, liberals went crazy. In February, the faculty council passed a resolution demanding that the university withdraw their invitation to Rice. Thereafter, student protesters stormed the office of the Rutgers President to express their disapproval of the selection and condemn Rice as a war criminal.

What is ironic in this whole series of events is that Rice no conservative, but a very moderate Republican, who just happened to serve in the George W. Bush administration. Her academic and professional credentials are extraordinary and Rutgers students should have been extremely grateful to have someone of her caliber address them.

Unfortunately, only negative protests were heard from students and faculty, so Dr. Rice eventually decided to decline the invitation. In her letter to the university, Rice noted that “I have defended America’s belief in free speech and the exchange of ideas. These values are essential to the health of our democracy.”

Sadly, it seems that universities are no longer committed to free speech or open debate as only liberalism is allowed. This trend has been occurring across the nation for years. Whereas, universities are supposed to be laboratories for free discussion, embracing all ideological viewpoints; upon closer examination, liberalism is not only dominant, it is unchallenged.

On a regular basis, conservative speakers are either completely shunned or, if they are invited, verbally and even physically attacked on campus. Conservative commentator Ann Coulter, among many others, has been targeted. Today, even moderates like Dr. Rice are unwelcome.

Condoleezza Rice
IBD Editorials, May 9, 2014

Academia: After the outrageous disinvitation of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at Rutgers University's commencement, leftist radical Angela Davis is hailed and feted at UCLA. Can higher education get any crazier?

One can only imagine what Rice might have thought after hearing of Davis' supposedly triumphant return Thursday to the University of California at Los Angeles, where the latter was fired in 1969 for her clandestine Communist Party U.S.A. membership and involvement in the Black Panther terrorist movement.

The honor to Davis — and the standing ovations, the gushing words from UCLA's chancellor, the glossy brochures and $43,000 honorarium — came around the same time Rice was effectively dismissed as commencement speaker at Rutgers based on leftist protests about her tenure as secretary of state during during 9/11 and the Iraq War.

Rice and Davis, it happens, were both born in Birmingham, Ala., at the height of the Civil Rights movement, each the daughter of respectable middle-class families who moved in the same social circles, according to various biographies. Each moved on to great fame, becoming pioneers of sorts as the "first black woman" in different fields.

Rice seized the opportunities of the Civil Rights movement to make something magnificent of herself. With hard work, she excelled first in classical music and then in foreign affairs, where she became one of America's top experts on the Soviet empire and communism. She capped her career as America's first black Secretary of State — a post she served with grace, polish, fairness, knowledge and dignity. After that, she became provost at Stanford University.

Davis also studied at a university. But instead of excelling as Rice did, she was drawn to philosophy with dirigiste European intellectuals of anti-American bent. These included UC San Diego's Herbert Marcuse, who led her to embrace communism, anti-Americanism and the Soviet-financed Communist Party U.S.A.
