Mr. Rodman is in the midst of promoting his own film, “Dennis Rodman’s “Big Bang in Pyongyang,” about his basketball-playing experience in the country.

Some cyber security experts have questioned whether North Korea was responsible for the Sony hack, but an administration official said the U.S. remains "very confident in the attribution."

Before leaving for his Hawaii vacation, the president had said he would respond to the attack “proportionally” in a time and manner of his choosing. Today's action is “the first aspect of our response,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said in a statement.

It would be Kim’s first foreign visit since taking the helm of the reclusive east Asian state in 2011. His personal envoy travelled to Moscow last month as part of efforts by the two Cold War-era allies to improve relations.

“Yes, such an invitation was sent,” a Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told the state news agency, Tass. Russia marks the former Soviet Union’s 1945 victory every year on 9 May.

The Sony Hack and America’s Craven Capitulation To Terror

 Americans are giving in to North Korean blackmail—and it will only get worse.

If the noble experiment of American democracy is to mean anything, it is fidelity to the principle of freedom. It is to champion the idea that all men and women are endowed with certain unalienable rights—free to think our thoughts, speak our minds, associate with whom we want and express our feelings without fear that a tyrant will silence us. Slavery is not only the physical restraining of the body. It is also the imprisonment of the mind—the instinct to quiet one’s thoughts in the face of terror.

This is a degrading and shameful state which no man or woman should be forced to endure.

Yesterday, Americans not only endured it—they enabled it. Anonymous hackers, possibly associated with the North Korean regime, made unspecified threats to conduct a 9/11-style attack on theaters that showed “The Interview,” a feature comedy film which pokes fun at Kim Jong Un. Major theaters announced they would not show the movie and Sony pulled it.

On Christmas weekend, a North Korean tyrant has decided what American teenagers will see on the silver screen. Some sympathize with the theaters. Who can blame them? Why would any business expose their customers to potential terror?

Kim Jong Un still in charge of North Korea?

 (CNN) -- Events in North Korea have left the world wondering: Where's leader Kim Jong Un and is he still running perhaps the most isolated country on Earth?

 Some analysts speculate Kim may have been ousted by an old guard from the era of his late father, whose 2011 death put the son in power.

 First, Kim Jong Un gained a lot of weight. Then he developed a limp. Now the 31-year-old leader has been out of the public eye since September 3, during which he missed an important state meetingand, more recently, a meeting Tuesday to mark the 17th anniversaryof his father's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party.

 Those events may not seem like much. After all, Kim could merely be ill, analysts say. In fact, official North Korean media said Kim was "suffering from discomfort," with no elaboration.

A high ranking North Korean official, Hwang Pyong-So, recently declared:
“If the US imperialists threaten our sovereignty and survival… our troops will fire our nuclear-armed rockets at the White House and the Pentagon – the sources of all evil.”
This is next in a long line of reckless statements by North Korea, including calling the female President of South Korea a ” dirty political harlot” and President Barack Obama a “monkeyish human monstrosity.” Its human rights violations, according to the UN Commission on Inquiry, have “no parallel anywhere in the world.” Despite its weak economy, its developing nuclear arsenal, developing ballistic missile arsenal, and its army–the fourth largest army in the world–pose danger to developed nations such as South Korea, Japan, and the US.
