William S. Cohen: President Obama Has Put Republicans and Our Allies in a Box
With President Obama’s announcement that America and its allies had “reached a historic understanding with Iran” on its nuclear weapons program, the debate has now begun: Does the president’s nuclear deal represent promise or peril? Is it President Obama’s legacy, or simply an illusion?
In terms of substance, many critical details are still unclear. A great deal of work remains to be done as negotiators spend the next three months to turn the framework the administration announced into a final, comprehensive deal. As the president made clear in his Rose Garden statement, “nothing is agreed to until everything is agreed.”

The Final Solution: A Nuclear Iran
Amid the ritual expressions of regret and the pledges of “never again” on Tuesday’s 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, a bitter irony was noted: Anti-Semitism has returned to Europe. With a vengeance.
It has become routine. If the kosher-grocery massacre in Paris hadn’t happened in conjunction with Charlie Hebdo, how much worldwide notice would it have received? As little as did the murder of a rabbi and three children at a Jewish school in Toulouse. As little as did the terror attack that killed four at the Jewish Museum in Brussels.
The rise of European anti-Semitism is in reality just a return to the norm. For a millennium, virulent Jew-hatred — persecution, expulsions, massacres — was the norm in Europe until the shame of the Holocaust created a temporary anomaly wherein anti-Semitism became socially unacceptable.
The hiatus is over. Jew-hatred is back, recapitulating the past with impressive zeal. Italians protesting Gaza handed out leaflets calling for a boycott of Jewish merchants. As in the 1930s. A widely popular French comedian has introduced a variant of the Nazi salute. In Berlin, Gaza brought out a mob chanting, “Jew, Jew, cowardly pig, come out and fight alone!” Berlin, mind you.

Iran, 6 Powers Move Closer To Nuke Talks Deal

Iran denies it wants nuclear arms, but it is negotiating with the U.S., Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany on cuts to its atomic program in hope of ending crippling sanctions. The talks have been extended twice due to stubborn disagreements.
The main conflict is over uranium enrichment, which can create both reactor fuel and the fissile core of nuclear arms. In seeking to reduce Iran's bomb-making ability, the U.S. has proposed that Tehran export much of its stockpile of enriched uranium -- something the Islamic Republic has long said it would not do.

Iran Says New U.S. Sanctions Violate Spirit Of Nuclear Talks

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who leads the country's nuclear negotiating team, said on Tuesday low-level talks on its nuclear activities would resume in Geneva on Jan 15, with wide gaps remaining in their positions.
Iran says its program is peaceful; the West fears it may lead to developing nuclear weapons. Zarif has repeatedly urged the United States and its Western European allies to drop "unrealistic" demands to make it possible for the 12-year dispute to be resolved.

DIA: North Korea Planned Attacks On US Nuclear Plants

North Korea dispatched covert commando teams to the United States in the 1990s to attack nuclear power plants and major cities in a conflict, according to a declassified Defense Intelligence Agency report.
The DIA report, dated Sept. 13, 2004, reveals that five units of covert commandos were trained for the attacks inside the country.

BREAKING: North Korea Just Threatened To Nuke The United States

A high ranking North Korean official, Hwang Pyong-So, recently declared:
“If the US imperialists threaten our sovereignty and survival… our troops will fire our nuclear-armed rockets at the White House and the Pentagon – the sources of all evil.”This is next in a long line of reckless statements by North Korea, including calling the female President of South Korea a ” dirty political harlot” and President Barack Obama a “monkeyish human monstrosity.” Its human rights violations, according to the UN Commission on Inquiry, have “no parallel anywhere in the world.” Despite its weak economy, its developing nuclear arsenal, developing ballistic missile arsenal, and its army–the fourth largest army in the world–pose danger to developed nations such as South Korea, Japan, and the US.
