Hezbollah considers the Jewish state its main enemy. But its fighters in the Syrian province of Quneitra, where the supposed Israeli attack took place, have turned a blind eye to the presence of Israeli soldiers across the border there.

Israel has struck Syria several times during the present conflict, hitting weapons deliveries to Hezbollah, but the group has never acknowledged those attacks. This time the importance of those killed, in addition to Nasrallah's warning, make the latest raid difficult to ignore.

The Paris branch of the American Jewish Committee called for “stepped up efforts to combat Islamist terrorism in France as violent attacks in Paris over the past two days expanded to a kosher supermarket.”

"What happened over the past 48 hours was a shock to the entire French nation," said Simone Rodan-Benazquen, director of AJC Paris. "It was our 9/11."

This week, the siege on the city of Amerli was lifted by Iraqi and Shi’ite militia forces, paving the way for the reconquest of Salahuddin province. The advance was preceded by US air strikes on Islamic State positions in the town.

The Peshmerga has also had a good few days. The strategic Mosul dam was recaptured in late August, in a joint operation with Iraqi forces; this week, the town of Zumar was retaken.

Hamas is in no rush for a cease-fire despite being continually pummeled by Israeli attacks.That is because it knows that Israel and the West are seeking a cease-fire, which would, once again, allow them to rebuild and rearm.

And as the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt saw many deaths since the overthrow of president Mohamed Morsi, the Palestinian branch of Hamas is also willing to sacrifice lives. After all, their motto is, “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”

Mordechai Kedar, director of the Center for the Study of the Middle East and Islam and a research associate at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan University recalled the time before Operation Protective Edge when Israeli media experts said how weak Hamas was, that Egypt was closing its tunnels – its lifeline to the outside world – and how it struggled to pay salaries, and so forth.

However, after many killed and wounded, Hamas has still not surrendered nor have the people of Gaza rebelled, Kedar pointed out.

This misconception can be attributed to looking at Hamas from one's own cultural vantage point and not from Hamas’s cultural prospective, he said, adding that for Hamas, they do not see their dead as dead, but as martyrs that are alive in the afterworld.

As the Koran (3:169) states: “Count not those who were slain in God’s way as dead, but rather living with their Lord, by Him provided.”

European Anti-Semitism Alert: Tesco Shelves Banning Israeli Products

LONDON – Tesco, the UK’s largest food retailer, has strongly rejected claims that the Gaza crisis is forcing it to stop selling Israeli produce and products, saying that in the case of Israeli dates packaged under its own label it had decided to stop selling them in September “for commercial reasons.”

According to the grocery chain, the dates are grown in Israel but packaged in the West Bank.

“It is clearly marked as “West Bank (Israeli settlement produce)” so customers are fully aware of what they are buying,” a spokesman told The Jerusalem Post. “As part of our regular review of our range, we will not be selling this product for much longer.”

The spokesman said that in line with the recent request from the British government on “origin of food” labeling, the dates have to be marked and sold as such, and as Tesco customers have been asking for such information, the company has to supply it.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that the decision had nothing to do with Gaza and that any report to the contrary was “erroneous.”

“Like all major UK retailers we sell some products that are sourced from Israel,” he said.

“We do this in line with the government position on trade with Israel, and we mark all products clearly with the country of origin so customers can make informed choices about what to buy.”

 The administration criticized Saudi Arabia’s denial of a visa for a Jewish White House correspondent wanting to cover President Obama’s visit to the kingdom on Friday, but when asked Tuesday whether it would “reconsider going to Saudi Arabia or anything like that,” Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said “no.”

 Michael Wilner, a U.S. citizen who covers the White House for the Jerusalem Post, applied for a visa with other members of the White House press corps but was turned down on Monday.

 Speaking to reporters on Air Force One as the president flew from the Netherlands to Brussels on Tuesday night, Rhodes said the administration was “very disappointed” and had taken up the matter with the Saudis.

 “We’ll continue to raise our concerns with the Saudis about why this journalist was denied a visa and about our very strong objections to their decision.”
“That didn’t cause you guys to reconsider going to Saudi Arabia or anything like that?” a reporter asked.

Michael Wilner is the Jerusalem Post‘s reporter based in Washington, and its White House correspondent. He is an American Jew who does not have Israeli citizenship and has never lived in Israel.
About midday on Monday, March 24, Wilner tweeted, “Saudi Arabia has denied me a visa to cover Obama’s trip this week.”
Wilner is the only journalist in the press corps who was denied entry by Saudi Arabia.

The White House declined to comment publicly, but the Jerusalem Post reported that U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice specifically requested that the visa be granted. Tony Blinken, a special assistant to President Obama, was also reported to have issued a request to Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the U.S.
