Hillary Asks Donors For $1

By Daniel Halper, Jun. 9, 2015, Weekly Standard

Hillary Clinton is asking supporters to chip in a buck. In an email this afternoon, Clinton writes, "I’m asking you to step up today, give just $1, and become a Launch Donor -- one of the tough, essential supporters who stood with me from the very beginning."

But Clinton says it's not about the dollar.

"It's not about the money. It's about knowing that when I step on the stage on Saturday, you’re with me. You have my back -- just like I’ll have yours."

The ask is a lot less expensive than the one Clinton is making of those who want to attend the fundraiser with singer Jon Bon Jovi. A ticket to that event costs between $1,000-$2,700.

'Benghazi, Bergdahl, And The Bomb'

By Daniel Halper, Apr. 3, 2015, WeeklyStandard.com

President Obama strode to the lectern in the Rose Garden Thursday to announce a “historic” agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The preliminary deal made in Lausanne, Switzerland, the president said, “cuts off every pathway Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon.” I hope he’s right.

But I’m not counting on it. The president has a terrible record of initial public pronouncements on national security. He has a habit of confidently stating things that turn out not to be true. Three times in the last four years he has appeared in the Rose Garden and made assertions that were later proven to be false. He and his national security team have again and again described a world that does not correspond to reality. No reason to assume these concessions to Iran will be any different.

ICYMI: Feinstein-- 'Flattered' Michelle Obama Might Be Considering Run For My Senate Seat

Daniel Halper, Oct. 26, 2014, Weekly Standard

"Oh, did you?" Feinstein said, chuckling a little. "Well, I have no idea what I'm going to be doing in 2018. That's four years from now, and that's one of the nice things of a six-year term. I've served two years of my term, and you know, I'll make a decision in due time. I'm flattered, if that should be true. Somehow I do not believe it is true, but I would be flattered if it were."

Feinstein is 81 years old.

300 Former Obama Staffers Urge Elizabeth Warren To Run for President

Daniel Halper, Dec. 12, 2014, Weekly Standard

"Warren is the backbone that the Democratic Party too often forgets it needs. She has inspired a movement—yet to jump into the race for president, we need to show the Senator that she’s got support all across the country, from Oklahoma to Massachusetts, from Florida to Nevada.

President, VP May Differ On Immigration Strategy: 'Obama Angrily Cut Biden Off'

Daniel Halper, Nov. 9, 2014, Weekly Standard

President Obama and Vice President Biden might not see eye-to-eye on immigration strategy. A hint of an apparent disagreement was on display during Obama's lunch with congressional leaders on Friday at the White House.

"The meeting was tense at times, according to a senior House Republican aide. The aide was not authorized to describe the back-and-forth publicly by name and spoke only on condition of anonymity," the Associated Press reports.

"Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, about to lose his grip on the upper chamber, barely said a word. The aide said at one point as House Speaker John Boehner was making an argument on immigration, Obama responded that his patience was running out and Vice President Joe Biden interrupted to ask how long Republicans needed. Obama angrily cut Biden off, the aide said."

Biden Blows Greg Orman's Cover: He 'Will Be With Us'

Daniel Halper, Nov. 4, 2014, Weekly Standard

Vice President Joe Biden blew Kansas independent Greg Orman's cover in a radio interview today. Orman hasn't stated which party he'll caucus with in the Senate--actively avoiding announcing whether he'll be with Republicans or Democrats--but Biden stated definitively that Orman "will be with us" if he's elected.

Obama: ISIS A 'Manageable Problem,' If 'International Community' Comes Together

By Daniel Halper, Sept. 3, 2014, Weeklystandard.com

"We know that if we are joined by the international community, we can continue to shrink ISILl's sphere of influence, its effectiveness, its financing, its military capabilities to the point where it is a manageable problem," said Obama.

"And the question is going to be making sure we've got the right strategy but also making sure we've got the international will to do it. This is something that is a continuation of a problem we've seen certainly since 9/11, but before and it continues to metastasize in different ways. And what we've got to do is make sure that we are organizing the Arab world, the Middle East, the Muslim world, along with the internationl community to isolate this cancer.

"This particular brand of extremism that is first and foremost destructive to the Muslim world and the Arab World and North Africa and the people who live there. They're the ones who are most severly affected. They're the ones who are constantly under threat of being killed. They're the ones whose econimies are completely upended to the point where they can't produce their own food and they can't produce the kinds of goods and services to sell in the world marketplace.

General: 'Destroy The Islamic State Now'

By Daniel Halper, Aug. 22, 2014, Weeklystandard.com

General John Allen, who is retired from the military, says that the Islamic State (known as ISIS, ISIL, or IS) must be destroyed now.

"The brutal murder of the brave American journalist James Foley is meant to directly terrorize the world’s media, the international community, and the United States. If all the actions of the Islamic State, or IS, to date weren’t sufficiently reprehensible, this act and the potential for other similar acts will snap American attention with laser-like focus onto the real danger IS poses to the existence of Iraq, the order of the region and to the homelands of Europe and America," writes Allen in a piece for Defense One.

"Make no mistake, the abomination of IS is a clear and present danger to the U.S. The only question really is whether the U.S. and its allies and partners will act decisively now while they can still shape events to destroy IS, an act that seems increasingly self-obvious."

Allen argues that because the U.S. has already struck ISIS and because the U.S. has unique military capabilities, it is incumbent upon America to do the dirty work.

"The U.S. is now firmly in the game and remains the only nation on the planet capable of exerting the kind of strategic leadership, influence and strike capacity to deal with IS. It is also the only power capable of organizing a coalition’s reaction to this regional and international threat. As a general officer commanding at several levels in the region, I can say with certainty that what we’re facing in northern Iraq is only partly a crisis about Iraq. It is about the region and potentially the world as we know it," writes Allen.
