Justice Department Dispatches Poll Monitors For Election Day

Josh Hicks, Nov. 3, 2014, Washington Post

The Justice Department has dispatched federal poll monitors to 18 states in an effort to prevent voter discrimination ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced Monday.

The monitors will look for race-based discrimination and inadequate resources for bilingual voters and individuals with disabilities, the agency said in a statement on Monday.

James O'Keefe Exposes Blatant Voter Fraud In North Carolina (VIDEO)

Project Veritas Action, Oct. 30, 2014, YouTube

A stunning undercover video exposes a reckless disregard of election law in North Carolina. Multiple campaign operatives and workers, both democrats and republicans, encourage felony voter fraud.

A Project Veritas Action operative poses as an enthusiastic wanna-be voter, who also happens to be a non U. S. citizen. When she asks campaign managers and other campaign operatives if it is okay if she votes they all say yes, no problem.

Greg Amick, Campaign Manager for Mecklenburg County Sheriff hopeful Irwin Carmichael, says, ‘it shouldn’t be an issue at all.”
Martin Kelly, the father of Superior Court Judge candidate David Kelly adds, “If they registered her, then she can’t get in trouble. All they can do is say no. They can’t do anything else.”

WaPo: New Study Proves That Non-Citizens Have Been Illegally Voting

By Jessica and David Earnest, Oct. 24, 2014, Washingtonpost.com

Could control of the Senate in 2014 be decided by illegal votes cast by non-citizens? Some argue that incidents of voting by non-citizens are so rare as to be inconsequential, with efforts to block fraud a screen for an agenda to prevent poor and minority voters from exercising the franchise, while others define such incidents as a threat to democracy itself. Both sides depend more heavily on anecdotes than data.

In a forthcoming article in the journal Electoral Studies, we bring real data from big social science survey datasets to bear on the question of whether, to what extent, and for whom non-citizens vote in U.S. elections. Most non-citizens do not register, let alone vote. But enough do that their participation can change the outcome of close races.

Our data comes from the Cooperative Congressional Election Study(CCES). Its large number of observations (32,800 in 2008 and 55,400 in 2010) provide sufficient samples of the non-immigrant sub-population, with 339 non-citizen respondents in 2008 and 489 in 2010. For the 2008 CCES, we also attempted to match respondents to voter files so that we could verify whether they actually voted.

Campaign Worker Steps Down After Undercover Video's Release

By Franco Ordonez, Oct. 31, 2014, Charlotteobserver.com

The North Carolina Board of Elections is investigating whether the campaign manager for Irwin Carmichael, the Democratic candidate for Mecklenburg County sheriff, and other campaign workers violated state election laws when they were seemingly caught telling an undercover actor, pretending to be an undocumented immigrant, that she could vote.

The investigation was launched in response to a video released Thursday by conservative provocateur James O’Keefe’s nonprofit Project Veritas that showed several campaign workers, Democrats and Republicans, potentially violating state election laws. The North Carolina Republican Party filed a complaint with the elections board accusing Democratic campaign workers and volunteers of aiding voter fraud.

Greg Amick, Carmichael’s campaign manager, stepped down Friday after being videotaped allegedly telling an actress who expressed concern about her alleged legal status, that she shouldn’t have any problem voting.
