Pima County May Vote To Refuse To Hire Smokers

The two-part policy would take effect in July 2015. It prevents the county from hiring smokers and slaps a 30 percent health insurance surcharge on employees who do smoke or use other tobacco products.

County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry said the Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote on the ban during their Dec. 16 meeting.

Sam was at LAX this morning when he was asked if he thinks NFL teams are shying away from him because of his sexual orientation ... or if it has to do with the level of talent he faced after college.

"I think I was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year last year ... so I don't think it had to do with talent."

Translation -- he believes he's on the outs because he's out.

Justice Department Dispatches Poll Monitors For Election Day

The Justice Department has dispatched federal poll monitors to 18 states in an effort to prevent voter discrimination ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced Monday.

The monitors will look for race-based discrimination and inadequate resources for bilingual voters and individuals with disabilities, the agency said in a statement on Monday.
