Things Get Awkward When Matthews Asks DNC Head About Bernie Sanders, Socialism

By Josh Feldman, July 30, 2015 Mediaite

Chris Matthews chatted with DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz tonight and things got awkward fast when they dived into talking about Bernie Sanders.

Matthews asked Wasserman-Schultz if, even if he loses, Sanders would have a place at the DNC convention, seeing as how he’s really popular with the base and could fire up a Democratic audience before the election.

She said he should get to speak, but Matthews kept prodding away to see if he would be allowed to speak in primetime instead of “when nobody’s watching.”

Bernie’s Strange Brew Of Nationalism And Socialism

By Kevin D. Williamson, July 13, 2015 National Review

Marshalltown, Iowa — “All foreign-made vehicles park in designated area in rear of building.” So reads the sign in front of United Auto Workers Local 893 in Marshalltown, Iowa, though nobody is bothered much about the CNN satellite truck out front, a Daimler-AG Freightliner proudly declaring itself “Powered by Mercedes-Benz,” nor about the guys doggedly and earnestly unpacking yard signs and $15 T-shirts and rolls of giveaway stickers from a newish Subaru, all that swag bearing the face and/or logo of Senator Bernie Sanders, the confessing socialist from Brooklyn representing Vermont in the Senate who is, in his half-assed and almost endearingly low-rent way, challenging Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. The bumper stickers on the mainly foreign-made cars of his followers tell the story: One of those “Peace” (not the more popular “Coexist”) slogans made of various world religious symbols, “Clean Water Is for Life!” and “The Warren Wing of the Democratic Party,” sundry half-literate denunciations of “Corporate Oligarchy” . . . “Not Just Gay — Ecstatic!”

Venezuelans Throng Grocery Stores Under Military Protection

Andrew Rosati and Noris Soto, Jan. 9, 2015, Bloomberg

“I’ve visited six stores already today looking for detergent -- I can’t find it anywhere,” said Lisbeth Elsa, a 27-year-old janitor, waiting in line outside a supermarket in eastern Caracas. “We’re wearing our dirty clothes again because we can’t find it. At this point I’ll buy whatever I can find.”

Elizabeth Warren Tells Hollywood: 'The Game Is Rigged in Congress'

Tina Daunt, Nov. 9, 2014, The Hollywood Reporter

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, regarded by many progressive Democrats as their party's alternative to Hillary Clinton, told attendees at an ACLU gala in Beverly Hills on Sunday that "economic opportunity is slipping further and further out of reach" for average Americans.

She said bluntly: "We have to face it: The game is rigged in Congress."

Using the inability to raise the minimum wage nationally, Warren said: "We face a basic question in this country: Who does this government work for? Is government to advance the interests of the rich and the powerful? Does government exercise its power only for those who can hire armies of lobbyists and lawyers? Is it there only to strengthen the strong and enrich the wealthy? Or does government work for all of us?"

“Happy” Birthday, Che Guevara

By Humberto Fontova, Jun. 21, 2013, Townhall.com

June 14th marked Ernesto Che Guevara’s 85th birthday. Yet amazingly, no celebrations were reported by the Obama campaign precinct-captain who in 2008 decorated her Houston office with his famous visage.
And this precinct-captain was not your usual bubble-headed Che Groupie who seemed to recall the awesome dude opening for the Foo Fighters at Lollapalooza. No, this Che fan was middle-aged woman born in Cuba where she lived during a period when Che Guevara was Cuba's chief executioner and second in command. At the time, Cuba had the highest political incarceration and execution rate on earth, far surpassing that of their Soviet mentors and suitors. Chile’s much-reviled Pinochet regime never even approached it.

Pictures subsequently surfaced of Obama campaign worker Maria Isabel at several Obama campaign functions; arm in arm with Barack, in a bear hug with Michelle Obama, and apparently, very heavily involved in the Obama campaign. Some background on her hero:
Had Ernesto Guevara De La Serna y Lynch not linked up with Raul and Fidel Castro in Mexico City that fateful summer of 1955 everything points to Ernesto continuing his life of a traveling hobo, mooching off women, staying in flophouses and scribbling unreadable poetry.

Che was a Revolutionary Ringo Starr. By pure chance, he fell in with the right bunch at just the right time and rode their coattails to fame. His very name "Che" was imparted by the Cubans who hob-knobbed with him in Mexico. Argentines use the term "Che" much like Michael Moore fans use "dude." The Cubans noticed Ernesto Guevara using it so they pasted it to him. And it stuck.

Today his famous photo by Alberto Korda is reputed to be the most reproduced print in the world, emblazoned on everything from infant wear to super model Gisele Bundchen’s derriere. Even the Pope, on his visit to Cuba in 1998, spoke approvingly about Che's "ideals." Che owes all this hype and flummery to the century's top media-manipulator Fidel Castro, who also dispatched him deliberately to his death. As those who know him have always said: "Fidel only praises the dead."
