Clay Aiken Donors: Campaign Turned Into Reality Show

P.J. Gladnick, Nov. 7, 2014, NewsBusters

Clay Aiken has learned that you don't have to actually be a winner to come out ahead. He learned that lesson when he came in second on "American Idol" and was launched into fame while the actual winner of that contest is pretty much forgotten. He seems to have applied that lesson to his recent congressional campaign as well. Aiken lost in a landslide but not to worry, he is about to star in a TV reality show about that campaign. Unfortunately for Clay, some of the good footage of him hanging out with celebrity donors at a September 30 fundraiser in Los Angeles might not be able to be used. The donors are now feeling "duped" by Aiken according to Variety.

Univ. of Minn Paper Makes Excuses for Sen. Franken After He Declines Campus Debate

P.J. Gladnick, Sept. 3, 2014, Newsbusters.org

Imagine the student association at your university wages a Twitter campaign to get the two candidates for the U.S. Senate seat to agree to a debate on campus. The challenger agrees but the incumbent senator declines.. Disappointing? Yes. But guess who the student newspaper on that campus lavishes praise upon? The candidate who declined to debate.

How does that happen? When the incumbent senator who declined the debate has the magic "D" next to his name as happened in Minnesota when Al Franken declined the invitation of the student government to debate his opponent. The student newspaper, the Minnesota Daily, after registering a barely perceptible bit of disappointment in Franken for declining to debate then went on to heap praise upon his overall record. Oh, and for his opponent who actually did agree to debate? Not a word of praise.

A U.S. senator and candidate in November’s election refused an invitation last week to debate at the University of Minnesota despite a heavy push on social media, prompting student leaders to question how candidates prioritize college-age voters on their campaign trails.

Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., denied the request from members of the Minnesota Student Association. Although student leaders expressed dismay, experts say debates aren’t the best route for politicians to sway voters.

Larry Jacobs, a political science professor in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, said debates are often less effective than other person-to-person types of voter outreach, like canvassing neighborhoods or holding registration drives.

Karma-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

Shortly after Costco announced that it was removing Dinesh D'Souza's book, "America: Imagine A World Without Her," from its stores, it soared to #1 on Amazon.Com. Meanwhile, Costco has been licking its wounds from all the angry reactions it has received and has raised the white flag of surrender by announcing that it will be restocking that book at its stores. So not only has the Costco attempt to yank D'Souza's book utterly failed but it has also hurt its reputation with its customers as you can see in the many reviews at Amazon which slammed Costco:

Boycott Costco!
Costco I don't have to shop there!!! Just saying!
Screw Costco ...I'll buy it here. Thanks Amazon !!!
The Costco story that broke today only confirms what D'Souza has written. Dinesh, God bless you for the bold stands you have taken.
Heard about this book being banned by Costco. Read reviews here and was especially befuddled at Costco's placement of the Clinton book. Promply ordered my America here and sent Mr. Jelink (CEO @ Costco) the message: "Just ordered my copy of America at Amazon. Shrivel up and die Costco."

Meanwhile, the Costco Facebook Page has been inundated by blasts from customers angry at Costco's book banning. Here are just a few of the thousands of scorching hot comments:

Will Dnesh Sousa be signing his book at Costco? I can keep my political ideas OUT of your shopping carts as well as my $. Censorship doesn't fly with my purse strings.
WOW, Costco is out for me! Selling Hillary's book but not America....Definitely not being a member here.

Deceitful. That is the best way to describe a Los Angeles Times report about five protesters arrested yesterday in Murrieta, CA. Nowhere in the story are the identities of the protestors indicated; whether they are pro-amnesty or against the dumping of the illegals in a federal facility in their city.

Although the truth is very carefully avoided in the Los Angeles Times, you can find it right way in the headline at the Gateway Pundit: "FIVE COUNTER-PROTESTERS ARRESTED During Tense Standoff at Murrieta Illegal Immigrant Rally." The co-conspirators in the Los Angeles Times attempt to keep its readers from learning WHO were arrested were Tony Perry, James Barrigan, and Matt Hansen. Here is their plunge into utter deceitfulness:

Five people were arrested Friday during protests in Murrieta over immigrant detainees being housed here, though so far it appears no detainees have been sent to this Inland Empire city.

Voter fraud is so rare “you’re more likely to get hit by lightning than find a case of prosecutorial voter fraud,” according to Judith Browne-Dianis, co-director of the liberal Advancement Project.

Apparently lightning has struck very hard in a local primary election according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune whose only real reference to voter fraud in the past two years was to reprint a St. Louis Post-Dispatch editorial mocking the possibility of its existence as "GOP voter suppression efforts." What has made the Star Tribune suddenly discover the (GASP!) existence of voter fraud is that it was allegedly perpetrated by one Democrat candidate against another Democrat in a primary. Here is the Star Tribune finally acknowledging the existence of this "rare" crime but only because it involves Democrat vs Democrat:

The Hennepin County attorney’s office is investigating whether a private mailbox center in Minneapolis’ Cedar-Riverside neighborhood has been improperly used as an address for more than 140 voters.
State records show that 419 Cedar Avenue S. has been used by some of the voters as far back as 2008.
No one lives at the address, which is a Somali-dominated commercial building housing several small businesses and a popular mail center. Several dozen apartments upstairs use a different building number. Records also show that more than 90 of the registrants at that address have voted in previous elections, although it’s unclear how many voted while registered at 419 Cedar.
The investigation reignites a long-running debate about voter fraud in Minnesota and is the latest flash point in the highly competitive race between Capitol stalwart Rep. Phyllis Kahn and Mohamud Noor, who would become the first Somali-American elected to the Legislature if elected. Kahn was denied the DFL endorsement in April due in part to Noor’s ability to turn out Somali supporters. An August primary will decide the fate of the race.
After discovering the number of registrants at 419 Cedar, Brian Rice, an attorney for Kahn’s campaign, filed a petition asking the county to investigate.
“Every person needs to know they can only vote where they live,” Rice said in an e-mail. “Any person registered at 419 Cedar cannot be allowed to vote from that address.”

So does that mean that Democrat Kahn would support the efforts of organizations such as of True The Vote? Of course not. However, suddenly she is in favor of voter integrity when it comes to her own primary race against a fellow Democrat suspected of perpetrating voter fraud. A bit of karmatic kickback is involved here since Democrats in Minnesota have been loudly opposed to stronger voter ID requirements:
