Huffington Post Banishes Donald Trump From Its Politics Page

By Alex Griswold, July 13, 2015 Mediaite

The Huffington Post is taking the unusual step of removing any Donald Trump coverage from its politics portal, and moving it to the entertainment section.

“After watching and listening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president, we have decided we won’t report on Trump’s campaign as part of The Huffington Post’s political coverage,” writes HuffPo editor Danny Shea and Washington bureau chief Ryan Grim. “Instead, we will cover his campaign as part of our Entertainment section.”

NBC Fires Donald Trump, But Keeps The Rev. Al Sharpton

By Dwight L. Schwab Jr. Jul. 3, 2015, Washington Examiner

In one of the most startling politically correct decisions any major television network has ever made, NBChas fired Donald Trump. Whether it was the right decision after his remarks about illegals coming over the border from Mexico or not, how is it they retain the Reverend Al Sharpton who makes Trump seem mellow? The MSNBC host has made equally offensive statements (or more) and keeps his job, Kayleigh McEnany, editor of Political Prospect, told CNN on Wednesday.

Yet Trump was immediately criticized when he said in his June 16 presidential campaign announcement, "When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people." Hardly anything more alarming than most of Sharpton’s commentary’s or false remarks he has made in the past away from the MSNBC studios; Ferguson, MO and the ensuing riots being a prime example.

But that wasn’t the only hit Trump got in recent days. Last week, Univision announced it would not air Trump's Miss Universe pageant. NBC followed their lead by announcing Monday; they too were cutting all ties with Trump, including his Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants and dumping him as host of "The Apprentice." Yet the reverend keeps his job as a bombastic and highly controversial host of a regular “news” and commentary show at NBC’s sister network.

Poll: 70 Percent Of Americans Believe News Media Is Intentionally Biased

By Eddie Scarry, Jul. 3, 2015, Washington Examiner

Nearly three quarters of Americans believe the news media reports with an intentional bias, according to a new survey.

The 2015 State of the First Amendment Survey, conducted by the First Amendment Center and USA Today, was released Friday. It shows that only 24 percent of American adults agree with the statement that "overall, the news media tries to report the news without bias," while 70 percent disagree.

When the question was asked last year, 41 percent agreed, a 17-point difference.

"These are discouraging results for those of us who have spent our careers in journalism," Ken Paulson, president of the First Amendment Center, wrote in an op-ed for USA Today on Thursday. "In 23 years in newsrooms, I saw consistent and concerted efforts to get stories right. Clearly, the public's not convinced."

The survey suggests that controversies this year that engulfed national news anchors Brian Williams of NBC and George Stephanopoulos of ABC may have had a deep impact on public trust in media. It also floats the idea that the public has had a negative reaction to news coverage of the racially-charged events in Ferguson, Mo., and Baltimore, Md.

Ted Cruz: Media Can't Wait To 'Filet' Conservatives

By Barbara Boland, Jul. 3, 2015, Washington Examiner

The "mainstream media...are partisans" who protect Barack Obama and "are ready for Hillary," Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said in an interview with Glenn Beck Thursday where he criticized Republicans for wanting reporters "to like them."

For conservatives, there is no such thing as a "nice" reporter, argued Cruz.

"You see Republicans, when they are interviewed by left-wing reporters, and they get afraid, they want them to like them," Cruz said. "They are not going to like us, they hate us!"

One day a young staffer described a reporter to Cruz as "really, really nice."

"You know what? No, she's not," said Cruz passionately. "She wants to destroy you. Nothing would make her happier than to take your life and filet you on the front pages. And don't think for a minute that because she smiles and is friendly to you that it's anything else."

"Isn't that pretty cynical?" asked Beck, who added he agrees with Cruz on this point "100 percent."
