Donald Trump's Firing Of Racist Adviser Suggests He Is Now Taking The Presidential Campaign More Seriously

By Henry Blodget, July 31, 2015 Business Insider

Earlier today, Business Insider's senior politics correspondent, Hunter Walker, revealed that a senior adviser to GOP front-runner Donald Trump published many racist and otherwise offensive Facebook posts.

Specifically, the adviser, Sam Nunberg, called President Barack Obama a "Socialist Marxist Islamo Fascist Nazi Appeaser" and "Farrakahn's Messiah."

He referred to Al Sharpton's daughter as "N---!" And so on.

Given Mr. Trump's history of controversial and offensive remarks, including those about Mexican immigrants, this discovery did not seem altogether surprising.

Romney's Inner Circle Is Convinced He's Running

Linette Lopez and Hunter Walker, Dec. 4, 2014, Business Insider

A member of Romney's inner circle who spoke to Business Insider said the former governor of Massachusetts traveled to New York City on Monday where he met with key financial backers of his past campaigns to lay the groundwork for a 2016 White House bid.

Author Ed Klein has published hundreds of pages of attacks on President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton.

On Monday, as Klein's latest "exposé" of the former first family topped Hillary's memoir on the best-seller list, a source close to the Clintons fired back with a scathing, lengthy email to Business Insider blasting Klein as a pathological liar.

"This might sound hyperbolic, but there is no bigger liar in the entire world," the source said of Klein. "Lying isn't even the word for it. It's some kind of sickness where every single thing you write is fabricated. Every. Single. Thing. I mean, even the photos in his book were found to be altered."

Klein, who made headlines last weekend with a questionable article in Sunday's New York Post in which he claimed President Obama is backing Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren rather than Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, would not discuss criticism of his work when Business Insider called him Monday. Instead, he repeatedly referred us to his publicist, Jeremy Little, who provided us with a three-sentence statement from Klein defending his reporting.

"In typical Clinton fashion, when people can’t handle or respond to the truth, they attack the messenger," Klein said.

Salary data released last week revealed average male staffers at the White House earn about 13% more than their female counterparts. The White House responded by pointing out six female staffers received high profile promotions in the past year. However, according to data collected by the conservative consulting firm Target Point, the women who were promoted at the White House received smaller raises than men.

While the average man promoted at the White House received a 24.4% raise, Target Point found the average raise for a promoted woman was 18.5%. Target Point also found 46 men were promoted at the White House between 2013 and 2014 compared to 41 women. Additionally, the firm noted 88 women left White House jobs in the past year while only 77 men departed.

Target Point Senior Vice President and Chief Data Scientist Alex Lundry said this data shows "the White House's hypocrisy on this issue is stunning" as President Barack Obama has made equal pay for women a major part of his agenda this year.

"The data clearly reveal that its not just salary for which there are significant differences between men and women, but also raises, promotions, and turnover," said Lundry. "Empirically, this White House does not treat their male and female employees the same."

On July 2, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest addressed the fact there is a pay disparity between male and female staffers at the same time the president is attempting to address this same issue nationally.
