Bernie Sanders Is In A 'Tie' With Hillary Clinton In One Key Primary State

By Brett Logiurato, Jun. 26, 2015, Business Insider

Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton and fellow Democratic candidate and US Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) are in a "statistical tie" in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire, according to a new poll of the state released Thursday evening.

The poll, from CNN and New Hampshire station WMUR, found that Clinton leads Sanders, 43-35, among Democratic primary voters in the state. But that result is within the margin of error (plus-or-minus 5.2%).

"Hillary Clinton, who has held comfortable leads over all her Democratic rivals, is now in a statistical tie with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire," wrote Andrew Smith and Zach Azem of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, which conducted the poll.

New York Times Op-Ed Writer Who Defaulted On Student Loans Differs From Many Borrowers In One Big Way

By Abby Jackson, Jun. 12, 2015, Business Insider

Pulitzer Prize-nominated author Lee Siegel wrote an op-ed article in The New York Times on Saturday in which he advised people to default on their student loans rather than remain stuck with crippling debt.

That advice sparked criticism because he appeared to downplay the consequences of defaulting on student debt. His article is also spurring more conversation about the burdens of paying for school.

Another New York Times op-ed article that came out Thursday points out that Siegel is different from many student-loan borrowers in that he actually graduated from college.

What Everyone Is Missing About ISIS' Big Week

By Armin Rosen, May 22, 2015, Business Insider

ISIS has made alarming gains in Iraq and Syria over the past week.

On May 17, ISIS fighters took Ramadi, a city just 70 west of Baghdad, after a battle in which the jihadist group advanced into the city behind a wave of suicide bombers. Capturing Palmyra, a former Assad regime bastion in Syria, proved easier, as a collapsing Syrian military essentially vacated the city in the face of the ISIS advance.

And an 11-month US-led bombing campaign hasn't prevented ISIS from taking and holding additional territory. This week, ISIS has looked formidable, while the US's strategy has seemed particularly ineffective and aimless. On May 21st, reports began circulating that ISIS controlled half of Syrian territory.

Defending Hillary Clinton Is Getting Hard

By Jennifer Rubin, Apr. 28, 2015, Business Insider

The reaction of the mainstream media to the Clinton scandals is telling.

News reporters and independent-minded analysts by and large seem to understand the gravity of the claims concerning foreign monies and concede that there is no "quid pro quo" or "smoking gun" required.

Peter Baker of the New York Times is among those who have not been thrown off the scent of scandal.

He told CBS's "Face the Nation" that "this is a big issue for Hillary Clinton because, in fact, it goes back to some of the issues we've been seeing with the Clintons going to the '90s, which is the interaction between money and politics, money and the Clintons in particular."

Likewise, Mark Halperin argued on ABC's "This Week": "The Clinton Foundation does great work. Some of the charges against her are overstated. That's on one side of the ledger. On the other side of the ledger, it's extraordinarily serious.

SONY Reportedly Plans To Release Seth Rogan Comedy 'The Interview' Online For Free

Alyson Shontell, Dec. 21, 2014, Business Insider

Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Friday that his companydid not “cave” to the pressure of hackers. Lynton said the film’s release was canceled because theaters came to Sony one by one over the course of a “very short period of time … and announced they would not carry the movie.”

Lynton says Sony had “no alternative” but to cancel the Dec. 25 theatrical release. He also stated that Sony was condering online alternatives for the release, including YouTube, but that it needed a distribution outlet to show the film.
