Man Named Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez Commits Domestic Terrorism

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- A gunman unleashed a barrage of gunfire at two military facilities Thursday in Tennessee, killing at least four Marines and wounding a soldier and a police officer, officials told CBS News.

The shooter also was killed. Law enforcement sources told CBS News that the shooting suspect was identified as 24-year-old Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez. According to a U.S. law enforcement source, Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait and came to the United States in 1996. It's unclear if and when he became an American citizen.

A U.S. official told CBS News that Abdulazeez was not on law enforcement radar concerning possible terror links or aspirations. The FBI was not aware of him as being any kind of threat.

Paul Chabot: Evil is Spreading Under Obama

It's absolutely impossible for the average American to fully comprehend the evil growing in this world. I have long written on the sinister nature of terrorism, drug cartels, organized crimes, to include a comprehensive strategy on how to fight them. But in life, sometimes it takes the masses to fully see what evil is truly capable of. Imagine, if you will, the horrors of the concentration camps. Many didn't believe that such atrocities could occur in our world; yet they occurred, and when those images were brought to film, people could see for themselves - they believed, and they swore "never again."

In 2008 when I first went boots on the ground in Iraq as an intelligence officer working with our special operation forces, I forced myself to watch hundreds of terrorist execution videos so that I could fully understand the evil we face. It made me sick - I remember leaving my seat and going outside to throw-up - I remember having nightmares about those sadistic images of torture and death - it's simply beyond comprehension for most.


The torture and killing by ISIS, through the means of burning a human being alive is so evil-filled that just hearing of such a case turns our stomachs. While I respect the media's belief of not wanting to show the video to avoid spreading the ISIS propaganda, I believe that this killing should be shown, so that, like the sadistic nature of the holocaust, the free world understands just how evil this act is, from the planning to the execution. The images likely will never leave one’s mind, and nor should they. We must be honest with what we face.

To say we are at war with radical Islam is an understatement. We are at war with evil and I'm afraid the United States lacks the leadership, from the very top, starting with this President, to lead the free world in this battle.

The end-state for ISIS is the elimination of all of us - to create their Caliphate. If they continue to advance around the globe, as they are today, this will be on our doorsteps. It could be your loved one in that cage.

Members of the Obama administration have insisted that the Taliban are not terrorists. Those responsible for the recent Paris killings are not radical Islamists. The Muslim Brotherhood is largely secular. Jihad is a "legitimate tenet of Islam." And "violent extremism," "workplace violence" or "man-caused disaster" better describe radical Islamic terrorism. Domestic terrorism is just as likely caused by returning U.S. combat veterans, according to one report by a federal agency.

What is the point of such linguistic appeasement?

The word "appeasement" long ago became pejorative for giving in to bullies. One side was aggressive and undemocratic; the other consensual and eager to avoid trouble through supposedly reasonable concessions.

But appeasement usually weakened the democratic side and empowered the extremist one.

The architect of appeasement -- for example, Neville Chamberlain, former prime minister of Great Britain -- was predictably a narcissist. Chamberlain believed that his own powers of oratory, his insights into reason and his undeniably superior morality would sway even a thug like Adolf Hitler.

ISIS 'See You In New York' Warning Fulfilled

Terrorism: An ax attack on two New York City cops by a Muslim convert with jihadi postings on his Facebook page is yet another reminder of the prophetic warning by the leader of the Islamic State.

Some pundits are downplaying any connection between Zale Thompson, who attacked two New York City cops with a hatchet, and the Islamic State, which has issued a call for such actions by sympathizers in the West. This is an "isolated case," they say, an act by a "nut job" and not by a terrorist conspirator.


The Islamic State is perhaps the world's largest collection of nut jobs. How sane can someone be, taking joy in sawing off the heads of infidels like Steven Sotloff and James Foley, or delighting in kidnapping and gang-raping the Yazidi women of Iraq because they worship a different god? How sane can young women be who leave the West to journey to Syria in the hopes of being incubators for future jihadis?

In the Soviet era, we might have called the likes of Zale Thompson sleepers — individuals hidden in our free society waiting for the call to fulfill their destiny.

The current bevy of homegrown jihadis beheading office workers in Oklahoma and killing policemen and soldiers in Canada may not have been planted here by the Islamic State. But in the age of social media, they have heard their master's voice and responded accordingly.

Mark Steyn, author of “The Undocumented Mark Steyn,” argued that calling terrorists “lone wolves” was a “cop out” on Friday’s “Varney and Company” on the Fox Business Network.

“This term ‘lone wolf’ is a cop-out…the idea that they somehow have to have a membership card in Islamic State or in al Qaeda for it to be official, fully-credentialed terror, like getting a hairdresser's license in New York State is completely preposterous” he stated.

Steyn added that the rhetoric of “lone wolf” terrorists allows those who do not want to admit that radical Islam is a problem to brush off terror as isolated incidents, saying “all jihad is local. That actually suits them, to say, ‘oh no this is just some mentally ill guy in Ottawa and this is another guy who’s bit goofy in New York and there’s no connection between the two.’ Because otherwise you have to treat it like your other big story. You have to treat it like ideological Ebola and you have to stop the infection and the ideological infection, this president, this administration has absolutely no interest in tackling”

5 Facts About Man Who Attacked New York Cops With A Hatchet

CNN reports that Zale Thompson was discharged from the Navy and that he had a criminal record in California. His Navy discharge was related to misconduct.

According to his Facebook page, Thompson is a native of Queens who graduated in 2011 from the Teachers College at Columbia University. His page also says he attended the The College of New Rochelle and High School of Graphic Communications Arts. His last-known address was in East New York, Brooklyn, but the New York Post reports that he had moved to Jamaica, Queens, this year. Neighbors called him “weird” and said he constantly fought with his girlfriend and mother while he lived in Brooklyn.

He is 32 years old. On his LinkedIn page, Thompson lists his skills as Microsoft Office, public speaking and research. A source told the New York Post that Thompson was “very educated” and was a proponent of “black power.”

Man Attacks New York Police Officers With A Hatchet

New York (CNN) -- A man charged at four New York police officers with a metal hatchet Thursday, hitting two of them at a time of high alert for authorities concerned they might be targeted in the United States and Canada.

The man was hiding behind a bus shelter as if he was waiting to attack the officers, according to a law enforcement official, who said it almost appeared as if he was stalking them. The officers were posing for a photo when the man pounced, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.

He struck one officer in the right arm and another in the head, according to the commissioner. The two officers who weren't hit then shot at and killed the attacker.

The law enforcement official identified the suspect as Zale H. Thompson, who had a criminal record in California and had been discharged from the Navy for misconduct, according to the source.

GUEST COLUMNIST: What To Fear From ‘Homegrown Terrorists’ By Richard J. Chrystie

It doesn’t take much imagination to come up with six simple things terrorists can do that can kill many people and badly damage our economy:

1. Simply drive down a crowded sidewalk or through an occupied crosswalk or any other place where many people are congregated -- and then drive on. Do this repeatedly. One terrorist can do this alone -- or several can conduct simultaneous attacks in many cities. Many people will be killed, and people will be afraid to be on the streets. Commerce will stop. If the terrorist is fast and lucky, he can drive away, ditch the car and not be caught. Then he can do it again and again.

2. Simply shoot people at random and in many different locations. Recall that John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo paralyzed the Washington, D.C., area a few years ago using an old Chevy and a single rifle. Trained snipers could pick off drivers on freeways or other roadways. Terrorists with concealed handguns could shoot people at random inside lobbies of buildings, inside elevators, and wherever people normally go. Then everyone would be afraid to even leave their homes.

3. Set up a concealed shooting position near an airport and shoot at airplanes as they take off and/or land. The engines are big targets and it would only take one or two hits to disable them so the plane would crash. A crash in a populated area would result in many casualties on the ground along with the crew and passengers on the plane.

4. Plant IEDs alongside the freeway and other roadways -- and in other places where people congregate. A couple of IEDs blowing up on a high-traffic highway will terrorize people sufficiently so that motorists will be afraid to drive on them.

5. Hijack a gasoline tanker truck. Attach an incendiary bomb to the tank. Crash it into the lobby of a hotel or office building and then detonate the bomb. Gas flowing from the ruptured tank will ignite and a huge inferno will ensue. The entire building will be engulfed in flame and everyone inside will be incinerated. This is a horrible scenario, but it would not be hard to pull off. The terrorists might not even have to hijack a gasoline tanker. They might simply get a job as the driver of one.

6. Shoot up power transmission facilities. There is one near my home. It is unguarded. From a few hundred yards away, a sniper with a rifle could easily shoot and put out of service those big transformers and other large pieces of equipment that are right out in the open. Do this at several facilities simultaneously and wide swaths of major metropolitan areas would be without electrical power for weeks or months while new equipment is manufactured and installed. Our civilization runs on electricity. Without it, we will be paralyzed. No lights, no refrigeration, no manufacturing, no radio or TV, etc.

Any and all of these six scenarios can be carried out in both big cities and in small towns so that none of us will feel safe anywhere.

Hopefully, people in the government are already thinking about this and are preparing ways to prevent these attacks -- rather than waiting for something to happen and then reacting, as with 9/11. Ultimately, we may have to become much more like Israel with public buildings and public areas hardened against attacks and many citizens armed to stop random terrorist shooters before they can kill too many victims.

Of course I hope none of these scenarios come to pass here. But the first two have already taken place in Canada. I see nothing to prevent similar attacks from happening here.

The woman beheaded by a Muslim convert was a grandmother who had lost her home in a tornado, it emerged today.

Alton Alexander Nolen, 30, is accused of killing Colleen Hufford, 54, and stabbing Traci Johnson, 43, who apparently were attacked randomly at the Vaughan Foods facility in Moore on Thursday, after he was fired from his job

Hufford, who had been married for 25 years, had lost her family home in the Moore tornado.

Her neighbours described her as 'quick to smile' and said her husband picked her up from the food processing plant every night and he was outside when he found out she had been killed.

Today it was revealed that Nolen had served less than two years of a six-year prison sentence for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, reports News OK.

According to records he went to prison March 10, 2011, to start a two-year sentence for marijuana possession and another two-year sentence for assaulting a highway patrol trooper, the website reported.

He began his six-year sentence for cocaine possession April 26, 2011, records show - due to plea agreements with prosecutors, he was allowed to serve the three prison sentences at the same time.

7 Other Lone Wolf Islamic Attacks Inside The U.S.

Over the weekend, the FBI announced that it would treat Islamist Alton Nolan’s alleged beheading of Colleen Hufford, 54, as a case of workplace violence. That despite the fact that Nolan’s Facebook page contains a picture of Nolan giving the ISIS salute, multiple pictures of Osama Bin Laden, a screenshot of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, and a quote reading, “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smile ye above their necks and smite all their fingertips off them.”

This, of course, is not the first time the federal government has labeled Islamic terrorism “workplace violence.” The Fort Hood shootings by avowed Islamist Nidal Hassan were classified thus by the federal government, as well. In fact, the Obama administration has repeatedly treated “lone wolf” Islamic terror inside the United States as though it were non-terrorist crime – unlike the Bush administration, which, for example, correctly labeled as terrorism Hesham Mohamed Hadayet’s attack on the El Al counter at Los Angeles International Airport in 2002 and the Beltway snipers’ multiple murders in that same year.

The Obama administration takes great pains never to label Islamic terror as such inside the United States; instead, we are told, we should focus disproportionately on the threat of right-wing groups like the Tea Party.

Meanwhile, Islamists inside the United States kill and maim and torture.

Here are seven other recent cases of lone wolf Islamic attacks inside the United States in recent years:

Yusuf Ibrahim. In April, 28-year-old Yusuf Ibrahim was indicted for two 2013 beheadings. He allegedly shot 25-year-old Hanny Tawadros and 27-year-old Amgad Konds, then cut off their heads and hands. The two were Egyptian Coptic Christian expatriates.

Faleh Hassan Almaleki. Almaleki killed his daughter, Noor Almaleki, 20, in a parking lot in Phoenix in 2009 after she became “too Westernized” and refused an arranged marriage. He also used his car to assault the mother of Noor’s boyfriend. Ahmed Rehab of the Council on American-Islamic Relations condemned the “domestic violence incident.”

Yaser Said. In 2008, Said allegedly murdered his two daughters after they began dating non-Muslims. He allegedly shot daughters Amina, 18, and Sarah, 17, on January 1, 2008 multiple times after luring them back home to visit their grandmother’s grave. Said is still at large.

Two local men were convicted Thursday of federal charges related to a plot to join Al Qaeda and the Taliban in order to kill Americans.

The men were identified as Sohiel Omar Kabir, 36, an Afghan-born naturalized US citizen living in Pomona; and Ralph Deleon, 25, of Ontario, a lawful permanent resident and citizen of the Philippines, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office.

Kabir and Deleon were found guilty of two specific plots: “conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and conspiring to kill officers and employees of the US government,” the release stated.

Both were facing life without the possibility of parole. Sentencing was scheduled for February 23.

Two other men indicted in the case, Miguel Alejandro Santana Vidriales and Arifeen David Gojali, previously pleaded guilty and were awaiting sentencing.

Brendan Tevlin's Murder Evidence That 'Domestic Terrorism Is Already Here

NEW YORK CITY — A New York radio personality is calling for increased attention to the June murder of a 19-year-old Livingston man, calling it evidence that “domestic terrorism is already here.”

Todd Pettengill, host of WPLJ’s “The Todd Show”, discussed the death of Brendan Tevlin for more than eight minutes this morning, asking why the case has not received more attention despite the alleged murderer’s admissions that he killed Tevlin as an act of vengeance for U.S. military actions in the Middle East.

“It was in fact an act of jihad, perpetrated by a fellow American who sympathized more with those who want to annihilate us than with his own country and its people,” he said.
