By The Smoking Gun, Sep. 18, 2017

A married couple is facing obscenity charges after they allegedly filmed themselves having sex in a Louisiana public library and then uploaded the video to their PornHub page, according to police.

Investigators last week received a “report of lewd activity that occurred within a public library” in Houma, a city about 55 miles southwest of New Orleans. The suspects, cops charge, “recorded themselves performing sexual activities on each other and uploaded them to a porn site.”

A subsequent probe identified the alleged library fornicators as Elizabeth Jernigan, 33, and her husband Rex, 35.

Why Walmart Will Keep Selling Guns

By MJ Lee, Jun. 25, 2015, CNN

(CNN)Confederate flags are off the shelves at Walmart. But still up for grabs: guns.

Walmart, the nation's largest retailer, was the first to announce plans this week to remove Confederate flag products from its stores after Dylann Roof killed nine African-Americans in a Charleston, South Carolina church. The company was hailed by many for quickly responding to the uproar over the flag. But it has since come under pressure to also stop selling guns in response to the nation's latest mass shooting.

"I would hope that stores like Walmart would recognize the danger of having these guns displayed right next to an aisle away from microwave popcorn and and Xbox games," said U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat who has pressed for gun control since 20 children were shot and killed at a school in his state in 2012. "I'm not terribly confident that a 21-year-old Walmart clerk is going to sell guns responsibly or be able to give customers the kind of advice they need on how to responsibly use that gun."

The debate over the Confederate flag has also raised broader questions about where the line should be drawn for retailers that sell other questionable or offensive products.

Walmart Selling Iranian, Cuban Flags

By Adam Kredo, Jun. 24, 2015, Free Beacon

Walmart continues to sell the Iranian and Cuban flags, as well as artwork depicting the Cuban dictator Fidel Castro urging people to “liberate” Cuba, according to the super store’s website.

Amid a growing controversy over the sale and display of the Confederate flag in such stores, Walmart continues to sell the official flags of Iran and Cuba.

The Iranian flag, which was created in the wake of the Islamic Revolution that brought extremists into office in 1979, is being sold online at Walmart.com for a price of $54.89.

The Iranian flag is “suitable for parades or indoor display,” according to the product description.

The Cuban flag also can be purchased for $13.75, according to the website.

“This seaworthy international courtesy flag can be used on ocean going commercial or private vessels,” according to the product description.

Walmart Kicks Off Next Phase Of Wage Increases

By Anne D'Innocenzio, Jun. 2, 2015, KESQ

Walmart is raising starting wages for more than 100,000 U.S. department managers and workers in its deli and other specialized departments.

The moves mark the next wave of wage hikes by the nation's largest private employer, which has been under pressure from labor-backed groups for the treatment of its workers. In February, it announced it was increasing minimum wages for entry-level and long-term hourly employees to at least $10 by next February. That increase affected 500,000 of its 1.3 million U.S. workers.

The wage hikes are part of a $1 billion program at Walmart that also includes improving training and offering employees more control of their schedules. The company is hoping that by investing in its workers, its customer service will improve, and ultimately that will encourage shoppers to spend more, helping to perk up sluggish sales at its U.S. division.

In February, Walmart said it would be raising wages for its department managers but didn't offer many details.
