Cosby Said He Got Drugs To Give Women For Sex

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Bill Cosby testified in 2005 that he got Quaaludes with the intent of giving them to young women he wanted to have sex with, and he admitted giving the sedative to at least one woman and "other people," according to documents obtained Monday by The Associated Press.

The AP had gone to court to compel the release of the documents; Cosby's lawyers had objected on the grounds that it would embarrass their client.

The 77-year-old comedian was testifying under oath in a lawsuit filed by a former Temple University employee. He testified he gave her three half-pills of Benadryl.

Temple Student Critical In Off-Campus Shooting

A Temple University student is in critical condition after he was shot early Saturday during an attempted robbery just off campus, police said.

A witness told investigators that he and the victim, 19, were standing outside on the 1500 block of North 17th Street shortly before 1 a.m., when an unknown man walked up and said, "give me everything you got."

The suspect pulled up his shirt, revealing a semiautomatic handgun tucked in his waistband, police said.

Philly: 'Temple Town' Is The New Jim Crow

Google Maps a few weeks ago identified much of North Philadelphia as "Temple Town."

Temple University's encroachments upon North Philadelphia should no longer be shocking for it is real. While Temple University has officially denied any connection to this renaming, it appears clear that Temple University and developers are carving out a white enclave that in effect is no longer North Philadelphia. Most black folks will be unwelcomed.

What Temple wants is a white enclave of racial and class privilege. This makes Temple University and its developer friend not just gentrifiers, but guilty of resegregating Philadelphia on the model of South African apartheid.

This is a "New Jim Crow."

This form of Jim Crow is about urban space and land. It's about replacing black folks with upper-middle-class whites. It's about disrupting black communities and institutions. It's about disrespect. It's a return to the horrible past of blatant white supremacy.

In this respect, Temple is as bad as any white Southern oppressor from back in the day. The name of the game is a few crumbs off the table for some, but old-style white supremacy for the majority.

Teen Who Bashed Temple Student's Face With A Brick Pleads Guilty

Zaria Estes, the high school girl who was scheduled to be tried as an adult for attacking a Temple University student with a brick this spring, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning.

Estes, 15, entered into a non-negotiated guilty plea to aggravated assault, conspiracy and possession of an instrument of crime. Three other charges were dropped: making terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Common Pleas Judge Michael Erdos will sentence Estes on Dec. 17, according to on-line court records. She remains free on bail.

Because the plea was not negotiated between the District Attorney's Office and Estes' attorney, the sentence will be left up to the judge. The maximum sentence for the lead charge of aggravated assault is 10 to 20 years.

At a court hearing last month, Common Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner ruled that Estes would be tried as an adult after listening to brick-attack victim Abbey Luffey testify about how the unprovoked March 21 attack by Estes and two other girls had impacted her life.

He said Estes' use of the brick to bash the victim's face made her actions more serious than those of her co-defendants, who did not use weapons. He approved an agreement that allowed the cases of Najee Bilaal, 15, and Kanesha Gainey, 16, to be handled in Family Court.
