Ron Paul: Stock Market 'Day Of Reckoning' Is Near

By Amanda Diaz, Jun. 19, 2015, CNBC

Despite record highs in the market, former Rep. Ron Paul says the Fed's easy money policies have left stocks and bonds are on the verge of a massive collapse.

"I am utterly amazed at how the Federal Reserve can play havoc with the market," Paul said on CNBC's "Futures Now" referring to Thursday's surge in stocks. The S&P 500 closed less than 1 percent off its all-time high. "I look at it as being very unstable."

In Paul's eyes, "the fallacy of economic planning" has created such a "horrendous bubble" in the bond market that it's only a matter of time before the bottom falls out. And when it does, it will lead to "stock market chaos."

Ron Paul's nonprofit Campaign for Liberty will fight the Internal Revenue Service's demand that it reveal its donor list to the agency, despite having already been fined for refusing to do so.

"There is no legitimate reason for the IRS to know who donates to Campaign for Liberty," Megan Stiles, the communications director at Campaign for Liberty, told the Washington Examiner in an email on Tuesday. "We believe the First Amendment is on our side as evidenced by cases such as NAACP v. Alabama and International Union UAW v. National Right to Work. Many 501(c)(4) organizations protect the privacy of their donors in the very same way as Campaign for Liberty. For some reason the IRS has now chosen to single out Campaign for Liberty for special attention. We plan to fight this all the way."

Ron Paul suggested that the group will refuse to pay the IRS fine in an fundraising email to supporters about the agency's request for information.

Here’s a question that will be chewed over a lot as the two parties rumble toward 2016: Are young voters up for grabs?
The youth vote not long ago appeared to belong to the Democratic Party, but that grip has weakened since Barack Obama twice racked up huge margins among younger voters. Less clear is whether the GOP can pick up the slack.
Among those eyeing 2016 bids, both Hillary Clinton and Republican Sen. Rand Paul have recently made pitches to young voters. Mrs. Clinton hit on education and the troubles in the job market; Sen. Paul appealed to queasiness over government surveillance. These early skirmishes will get a lot louder over the next two years.
It would be a stretch to say millennials are warming to the GOP. Just a quarter of those under 35 said they had positive feelings toward the Republican Party in the last Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, which came out two weeks ago.
At the same time, millennials aren’t exactly in love with the Democratic Party. Soon after Mr. Obama took office in 2009, nearly half looked favorably on the Democrats. That number has since slipped to 36%.
Younger voters have also soured on Mr. Obama.

The president of a young libertarian group is rebuking former Rep. Ron Paul over his support for Russia’s annexation of Crimea, according to a statement posted by BuzzFeed on Monday.
Students for Liberty co-founder and president Alexander McCobin issued a statement calling Russian President Vladimir Putin “the aggressor in Crimea” and saying Ron Paul “gets it wrong when he speaks of Crimea’s right to secede.”
Paul and his think tank, the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, have been defending Putin’s annexation of Crimea and opposing U.S. efforts to punish Russia economically.
