Furious McDonald's Employee Trashes Restaurant After Being Fired

By Keiligh Barker, Feb. 9, 2015, Daily Mail

A furious McDonald's employee has been caught on camera having a meltdown of epic proportions and trashing the restaurant after being fired.

A customer in the St Paul branch in Minnesota filmed the incredible moment the as yet unnamed member of staff started smashing up the restaurant in a fit of rage.

The disgruntled now ex-employee can be seen still wearing his red McDonald's t-shirt and black hat as he swears, shouts and trashes the area behind the counter.

Ignoring the restaurant's shocked customers the man proceeds to smash glasses, throw drinks and even appliances to the floor, all the while unleashing a foul-mouthed tirade at the other employees.

A video on YouTube called 'McDonald's Employee Gets Fired & Goes Crazy' which captured the incident has already had more than 32,000 hits since it was uploaded yesterday.

Is The Left Slowing Killing Off McDonald’s?

By Jazz Shaw, Jan. 31, 2015, HotAir.com

Dan Thompson is on his way out the door as CEO of fast food giant McDonald’s. This is not terribly surprising, since the Golden Arches have turned in some poor numbers compared to their competitors for a while now. There are a few reasons for this, some of which came as a surprise to me, as outlined by my friend Stephen Green (a.k.a. Vodkapundit). One big factor which doesn’t seem to make a lot of news is that the primary component of burgers is beef, and the cost has been on the rise.

Stephen also makes the point that rising costs not only for beef, but for labor, are driving McDonald’s price point up into the range of places like Five Guys or Steak n’ Shake which offer more of a diner experience with custom cooked food. But McDonald’s has also felt the social pressure to make some changes which have ruined the factors about their original menu which made it so addictive. The biggest example on that front is when they abandoned beef tallow in the fries to satisfy the demands of the vegans. Those fries used to be addictive! It was the highlight of a visit to their establishment. After the change they were just not the same.

McDonald's CEO Don Thompson Steps Aside, Stock Jumps

By Kattie Little, Jan. 28, 2015, Cnbc.com

Amid a tumultuous past year for McDonald's, the world's biggest restaurant chain's CEO Don Thompson is retiring after two years on the job, effective March 1. The fast food is also getting a new CFO.

The restaurant's Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Steve Easterbrook will replace Thompson, who is a 25-year veteran of the company, the company announced on Wednesday.

Previously, Easterbrook served as president of McDonald's Europe and led the chain's "efforts to elevate its marketing, advance menu innovation, and create an infrastructure for its digital initiatives," it said in a release. The company's CFO Pete Bensen will also transition to the role of chief administrative officer while Kevin Ozan, the company's current corporate controller, will become the chain's new CFO.

On Friday, the company delivered its latest update on its continuing U.S. turnaround, ongoing problems in Asia and the currency headwinds it faces.

McDonald's Key Sales Figure declines In October

AP, Nov. 10, 2014

President and CEO Don Thompson said in a statement that consumers are increasingly looking for food where they have the option to customize it to their liking, as well as places that have convenient ways to order and pay. McDonald's previously announced that it plans to expand its "Create Your Taste" offering that lets people pick the buns and toppings they want on burgers by tapping a touchscreen.

The chain said that its U.S. restaurants were hampered by strong competition. Thompson previously said that McDonald's plans to combat this in party by simplifying its menu so that its restaurants have room to offer options best-suited for their regions. This process is expected to start in January.

McDonald’s Monthly Sales Slump Worst Since 2003

By Leslie Patton, Sept. 9, 2014, Bloomberg.com

McDonald’s Corp. (MCD), the world’s largest restaurant chain, posted the worst same-store sales decline in more than a decade, hurt by sluggish demand in the U.S. and a health scare involving a Chinese supplier.

Sales at stores open at least 13 months fell 3.7 percent in August, the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company said in a statement today. Analysts estimated a 3.1 percent drop. McDonald’s also said that supplier problems in China will reduce third-quarter earnings per share by 15 cents to 20 cents.

McDonald’s, which has more than 14,200 U.S. locations, is facing challenges at home and abroad. Domestically, it’s been relying on discounts, limited-time offers and remodeled stores in a failed attempt to reignite growth. In China, meanwhile, the company’s meat supplier OSI Group LLC was investigated for changing the expiration dates on food, triggering shortages and a sales slump.

“There isn’t a lot of good news here,” Peter Saleh, a New York-based analyst at Telsey Advisory Group, said in an interview. “China is going to be under pressure for a while; their traffic is down in the U.S.”

The shares declined 0.4 percent to $92.12 at 9:54 a.m. in New York. The Big Mac seller had slumped 4.7 percent this year through yesterday, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 Restaurants Index lost 1.3 percent.
