Robert Gates: Obama’s Plan To Defeat Islamic State Is ‘Unrealistic’
Former defense secretary Robert M. Gates on Sunday described President Obama's strategy for defeating the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria as “unrealistic," adding that ground troops may be necessary to achieve the administration's goals.
“I think that the airstrikes have contributed to containing them, but we’re a long way, in my view, from being in a position to roll them back or push them out of Iraq,” Gates said on NBC’S “Meet the Press," referring to the Islamist extremists.
