Republicans See Diversity In Their Presidential Hopefuls

AP, Dec. 29, 2014

This class of contenders could include two Hispanic senators, an Indian-American governor, a female business leader and an African-American neurosurgeon. In a group that could exceed a dozen Republican White House prospects, all but a few are in their 40s or 50s, while one of the oldest white men is a fluent Spanish speaker whose wife is a native Mexican.

Today we’re making Facebook’s current diversity figures available publicly for the first time.

At Facebook, diversity is essential to achieving our mission. We build products to connect the world, and this means we need a team that understands and reflects many different communities, backgrounds and cultures. Research also shows that diverse teams are better at solving complex problems and enjoy more dynamic workplaces. So at Facebook we’re serious about building a workplace that reflects a broad range of experience, thought, geography, age, background, gender, sexual orientation, language, culture and many other characteristics.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti suspended the city's firefighter recruitment program Thursday amid concerns about mismanagement and nepotism, including new emails that show special recruitment workshops were organized for relatives of department insiders.

"I have determined that the Fire Department's recruiting process is fatally flawed," the mayor said in a statement Thursday.

The action follows a Times report last month that thousands of candidates who passed a written test were excluded from consideration for a new training class because some of their paperwork wasn't received in the first 60 seconds of a filing period last spring. Nearly 25% of the 70 recruits eventually hired were related to LAFD firefighters.

Business Insider - So who's running Facebook these days?

Facebook's online press room is next to useless for figuring this out. Only CEO Mark Zuckerberg, COO Sheryl Sandberg, and CFO Mike Ebersman are listed there.
But a photo Zuckerberg posted of the Facebook executives who recently took a trip to Walmart headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., is a pretty good clue.
Reuters says that the group was Zuckerberg's "senior management team."
Some junior staffers who work closely with Walmart also joined in—and we noticed some missing faces, most notably Facebook PR chief Elliot Schrage.
Still, Zuckerberg's photo is the best illustration we've seen of the executives he's closest to.

From left to right in this photo, they are: Mike Vernal, Greg Badros, David Fischer, Kate Aronowitz, Sheryl Sandberg, Mike Schroepfer, Chris Cox, Lori Goler, Eric Antonow, Dan Rose, Dan Creekmore, Camille Hart, Sam Lessin, Mike Fox, Galyn Burke, Javier Olivan, David Ebersman, and Matty de Castro.
