"Clint Eastwood Denies Threatening To Kill Michael Moore But Says 'It Isn’t A Bad Idea'"

By Darby Crash, Apr. 22, 2015, PatDollard.com

Excerpted from The Hollywood Reporter: When he was honored at an event at CinemaCon Wednesday, Clint Eastwood shared thoughts on his acting career, his interest in directing and one of his most vocal critics: Michael Moore.

The American Sniper helmer, who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter’s Stephen Galloway at the annual convention, told the crowd that he had been asked many times about Moore’s comments against his war drama.

“Everyone is saying I threatened to kill Michael Moore – that’s not true … but it isn’t a bad idea,” he joked, getting a big laugh from the crowd.

“Once years ago somebody asked me what I would do if a guy like [Moore] came to my house and started filming like they did with Charlton Heston … and I thought, well if he’s on your property, I guess you can shoot him,” he said.

'American Sniper': Chris Kyle's Widow At Center Of Quiet Furor Over Profits

By Alex Ben Block, Feb. 18, 2015, HollywoodReporter.com

When he was alive, Chris Kyle told friends and business associates that he viewed any profits from his memoir American Sniper as "blood money." The legendary Navy SEAL, whose account of his four tours of duty in Iraq was adapted into the Clint Eastwood movie that is now up for six Oscars including best picture, maintained that he wanted the money to go to support struggling military families.

After Kyle and a friend were shot and killed in 2013 by a veteran Kyle was helping, The New York Times retold this widely known point of view: "Though his book became a best-seller, he never collected money from it, friends said, donating the proceeds to the families of two friends and fallen SEAL members, Ryan Job and Marc Lee."

Yet today, with more than $6 million banked from the American Sniper franchise (boosted by the sale of more than 2 million books) and millions more on the way as the Warner Bros. film nears $400 million worldwide, a quiet dispute festers over who is entitled to that windfall. At the center of the discord is Kyle's widow, Taya, 40, who is alleged to have ignored her late husband's wishes and withheld money from the bereaved families he publicly had promised to support.

Clint Eastwood Agreeing With Michael Moore And Bill Maher?

By Joel Himelfarb, Feb. 10, 2015, Newsmax.com

Clint Eastwood surprised many people recently by saying he agreed with critics who have attacked his Oscar-nominated film "American Sniper."

Since the film was released last month, it has been attacked by film director Michael Moore, who called military snipers "cowards."

Comedian Bill Maher questioned whether the subject of the film — the late U.S. military sniper Chris Kyle — was a "hero or not" and called him a "psychopath patriot," The Daily Beast reports.

Special: Drugstore Drink Stops Migraines in 5 Minutes

As he was leaving a West Hollywood restaurant Monday night, Eastwood was asked by TMZ what he thought about the recent criticism by Moore and Maher.

"They were right," he said.

"Did Clint Eastwood Just Agree with 'American Sniper' Critics?" a Daily Caller headline asked.

Michael Moore: Clint Eastwood Threatened To Kill Me

By Radio Fox News, Jan. 31, 2015

So, Michael Moore may have an additional reason to not like Clint Eastwood’s movies.

As Moore tells it, “Ten years ago this past week, Clint Eastwood stood in front of the National Board of Review awards dinner and announced to me and to the crowd that he would ‘kill’ me if I ever came to his house with my camera for an interview.”

Eastwood was likely referring to the scene in Moore’s documentary Bowling for Columbine in which the director confronted an elderly Charlton Heston about his role as head of the National Rifle Association.

Michael Moore & Seth Rogan--Dumb and dumber

Doug Giles, Jan. 25, 2015, Townhall

Rogen, similarly took to Twitter and hit the stupid button by comparing American Sniper to a Nazi propaganda film. He too, has been trying awkwardly and unsuccessfully to dance his way out of that ill-fated tweet by blaming others for misinterpreting him. Poor, little Seth … no one understands you.

After Americans collectively shat on them, both of these weasels started saying how they really liked the movie and how Bradley Cooper was amazing; but you know what? … we didn’t hear any of that praise until our country told you two clowns to kiss off. It was then and only then that we saw you blowhards blow kisses in the American Sniper’s direction.

Group Says 'American Sniper' Film Spurs Threats Against Muslims

Mark Guarino, Jan. 24, 2015

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) said in a letter to Eastwood and Cooper that its members had become targets of "violent threats" since early last week, before "American Sniper" went into general release. The letter said Eastwood and Cooper, the film's producer and star, could bolster the ADC's message of tolerance.

"It is our opinion that you could play a significant role in assisting us in alleviating the danger we are facing,” said the letter, dated Jan. 21.

Rupert Murdoch Rips 'Hollywood Leftists' Over 'American Sniper'

Hollywood Reporter, Jan. 23, 2015

Murdoch wrote on Twitter, "Hollywood leftists trash American Hero, show how completely out of touch they are with America. Bravo Clint Eastwood!" He added, clarifying, "Yes, American Sniper!"

On Monday, Rogen tweeted that American Sniper "kind of reminds" him of the Nazi propaganda film about a sniper showing near the end of Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. He later clarified that tweet, writing that he liked American Sniper and that he wasn't comparing the two, just saying one reminded him of the other.

Michael Moore Offers Opinion On 'American Sniper' Following Sniper Tweets

Christopher Rosen, Jan. 19, 2015, Huffington Post

Oh ... and too bad Clint gets Vietnam and Iraq confused in his storytelling. And that he has his characters calling Iraqis "savages" throughout the film. But there is also anti-war sentiment expressed in the movie. And there's a touching ending as the main character is remembered after being gunned down by a fellow American vet with PTSD who was given a gun at a gun range back home in Texas -- and then used it to kill the man who called himself the 'America [sic] Sniper'.

American Sniper's' Fake Baby Mocked By Critics, Moviegoers

Mia Galuppo and Arlene Washington, Jan. 19, 2015

But shooting in California poses some challenges when employing a real baby given the state's strict laws (part of the movie was shot in Los Angeles). Infants must be at least 15 days old, and babies from that age up to six months can be employed for only one period of two consecutive hours in any given day. Moreover, that time frame has to be between 9:30-11:30 a.m. or from 2:30-4:30 p.m., and one studio teacher along with one nurse must be on set during filming.
