Black Teacher Learns Her Fate After Telling Whites To “Kill Yourselves”

The Dallas-area teacher who sparked a firestorm of controversy over her offensive tweets last week has been fired.


Vinita Hegwood submitted her resignation Monday, but the Duncanville Independent School District voted unanimously to reject it, choosing to terminate her instead.

The trouble began when the Duncanville High School English teacher tweeted Nov. 7 about the ongoing troubles in Ferguson, Mo., and others responded in a way that she considered “threatening and racist.”

Report: Drunk Teacher ‘Wet Himself’ During Class In Front Of Students

The Southington High School principal sent a letter to parents about an incident at the school Thursday in which a teacher “behaved in an unprofessional manner … and was removed immediately from the classroom,” WTNH reports.

But an “insider” at the school told the news station there’s a lot more to the story than school officials are letting on and alleges they’re attempting to sweep the situation under the rug.

On a warm day in early June, a Los Angeles County trial-court judge, Rolf M. Treu, pink-cheeked beneath a trim white beard, dropped a bombshell on the American public-school system. Ruling in Vergara v. California, Treu struck down five decades-old California laws governing teacher tenure and other job protections on the grounds that they violate the state’s constitution.

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — A video showing a teacher and wrestling coach at Santa Monica High School fighting with a student that was captured on cell phone video has gone viral.

While the teacher and coach has been placed on leave, scores of students took to social media on Saturday to support him.

In a letter to parents, Sandra Lyon, the superintendent of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, said the altercation happened in a classroom Friday morning.

“A deeply disturbing incident involving a teacher and student occurred in a classroom at Santa Monica High School, resulting in the Santa Monica Police Department being called to the campus.

Nine public school students are suing California for failing to provide them with a good education:

Vergara v. California, a case brought by nine California public school students against five state statutes they say keep ineffective teachers at the front of the class, concluded Thursday with an emotional closing argument by the plaintiffs’ lead co-counsel Marcellus McRae.


“Just because you have a license, doesn’t mean you can win the Indy 500. Just because you have a credential, doesn’t mean you are an effective teacher. That argument is done,” said McRae.
