WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Russia is using an air corridor over Iraq and Iran to send supplies to Syria, U.S. officials said.

After Bulgaria, a NATO member, announced on Sept. 8 its airspace would be closed to Russian military planes traveling to Syria -- upon request by the United States -- Russia began channeling flights over Iran, a Syrian ally. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Sunday the flights would continue despite objections from the United States.

U.S. officials disclosed Sunday seven massive Condor planes, Russian transport planes, took off from southern Russia to Syria in the past week, passing through Iraqi and Iranian airspace.

"There were military supplies, they are ongoing, and they will continue. They are inevitably accompanied by Russian specialists, who help to adjust the equipment, to train Syrian personnel how to use this weaponry," Lavrov said.

Iran Nuclear Deal Is The Worst Accord America Has Ever Made

Nuclear Diplomacy: Now that the long-feared leap of faith with terrorist Iran has arrived, a tragic fact is exposed: The Iranian deceptiveness we can count on is already matched by our president's own deceitful announcement.

As expected, President Obama has already begun to bully Congress. "I will veto any legislation that prevents the successful implementation of this deal," he promised in his announcement of the pact he claims will stop Iran from obtaining nuclear arms.

"I welcome a robust debate in Congress on this issue, and I welcome scrutiny of the details of this agreement" — that is, as long as afterward you agree to this badder-than-bad deal.

Iran Nuclear Deal No Breakthrough For Post Journalist Held In Tehran

The fate of several Americans held in Iran, including a Washington Post journalist detained last July, remains separate from the historic nuclear deal announced Tuesday, even after U.S. officials repeatedly raised the issue with Tehran.

After news of the nuclear deal, Jason Rezaian’s brother and The Washington Post’s executive editor renewed calls for the release of Rezaian, The Post’s Tehran bureau chief, who is facing trial on charges that include espionage. Rezaian has strongly denied the allegations.

“The outcome of the nuclear deal does not change Jason’s cruel and illegal imprisonment for the past 356 days,” his brother, Ali Rezaian, said in a statement Tuesday. He added: “We are hopeful that with agreement now in place the Iranian courts will conclude this process swiftly and affirm Jason’s innocence so we can bring him home and make our family whole once again.”

Iran Can Still Get The Bomb

The proposed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action between the United States, Iran and other negotiating partners, contains a number of flaws, any one of which should be fatal to the deal.

Sanctions bait and switch:

Iran is subject to a variety of economic sanctions, imposed to punish the Islamic Republic for various types of misbehavior — nuclear proliferation, support for terrorism, ballistic missile programs, financial crimes, and human rights violations. The Obama administration pledged that the only sanctions in play in this deal were those dealing solely with the nuclear program, but the list of removable sanctions in Annex II relates in some way to every aspect of Iran's misbehavior. As well, the notion that sanctions will quickly "snap back" into place should Iran cheat is questionable at best, since it would require the UN Security Council and the European Union to respond swiftly when some members may not want to disrupt their emerging business relationships with Iran. This is in addition to the tens of billions no-strings-attached "signing bonus" Iran will receive when its oil assets held abroad are unfrozen. Even the White House admits that money could be used to energize terror networks.
