Family of Man Killed By Police In South Jersey Tells Al Sharpton to Stay Out Of It

Victor Fiorillo, Jan. 23, 2015, PhillyMag

As tensions mount over the December 30th shooting of 36-year-old Jerame Reid by police in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Reid’s family is saying thanks but no thanks to Reverend Al Sharpton.

The shooting was captured on video by a police dashboard camera, and it appears to show Reid being shot as he exits a vehicle with his hands up, after one of the officers said he saw a gun in the car's glove compartment and warned Reid not to reach for it. The case has garnered national attention.

TEANECK, N.J. - Sixty-two students were arrested Thursday after police said they broke into their high school overnight for a senior class prank, urinating in hallways, greasing doorknobs with petroleum jelly and taping hot dogs to lockers.

Police said officers responding to a burglar alarm at Teaneck High School shortly after 2 a.m. also found desks flipped over, chairs broken, graffiti on the walls, silly string on the floors and balloons throughout the building.

Even before they went inside, police said, officers could see many students through the building's windows.

Police from more than a dozen neighboring towns plus county law enforcement officers were called in to help.

They used police dogs in their room-by-room roundup of students, some of whom were hiding.

He said the students told officers that it was a senior prank — an annual tradition at the northern New Jersey school of 1,300 students, though it is usually not this involved. As they were arrested, Carney said, some students were scared but others were laughing.

"If this was a senior class prank, I just don't believe that a lot of them realize the seriousness of it as far as breaking into the building," Sgt. John Garland said. "That's a burglary and I don't think they understand that. It's a very serious offense."

The 24 students who are 18 or older were charged with burglary and criminal mischief. The other 38 are juveniles and are being released to their parents.

Mainstream media bias is alive and well.

While it’s not surprising that a far left publication like Mother Jones would go there, it didn’t take long for the mainstream media to make front page news revealing that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was a Republican.

The horrors! Those evil, racist Republicans.

Right?

In almost every article I’ve ever read that involves a racist or sexist Republican, the fact that they are, in fact, a Republican is often made the most prominent aspect of the column – as if there is something terrible wrong and humiliating to have the dreaded GOP affiliation linked to you.

Bear in mind, Donald Sterling has not, is not, and probably will never run for public office.

But he’s been given the dreaded Scarlet Letter.

Fast forward to this breaking story from New Jersey’s Star-Ledger about a councilwoman from the city of Belleville, N.J who is now seeking to be its mayor.

From the story, reporter James Queally tells us:

BELLEVILLE — A Michigan forensics lab has confirmed with "85 percent" certainty that the voice heard on a phone message using a racial slur is that of Belleville councilwoman and mayoral candidate Marie Strumolo Burke.

In the recording, which was posted to YouTube and has been the subject of local discussion for weeks, a woman’s voice that is allegedly Burke’s can be heard yelling in the background of a voicemail left on Councilman Kevin Kennedy’s answering machine.

"This is terrible. This is terrible. This is gonna be a (expletive) (N-word) town," the woman says near the end of the 90-second message.

You can hear the audio here and make up your own mind.
