Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) along with Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Marco Rubio (R-Florida) today sent a letter to President Trump urging him to send the worst of the ISIS fighters currently detained in Syria to Guantanamo Bay. Doing so would prevent these dangerous terrorists from being released to commit further acts of terror.

Ten years ago today, President Obama signed a misguided executive order ordering the closure of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay. This executive order drew sharp criticism from elected Republican officials on Capitol Hill - and rightly so. The subsequent rise and fall of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria has only underscored the need for a detention facility in Guantanamo Bay.

Conservative GOP Sens. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are pushing to test the limits of how much of Obamacare can be repealed under Senate rules, setting up a potential “nuclear” showdown.

The firebrands want to overturn long-standing precedent for what can be done under reconciliation, the fast-track budget process the GOP is using to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. They argue Republicans are allowing stale Senate norms to tie their hands and are forfeiting a chance to completely abolish the law.

By Breitbart, April 19, 2016

GOP presidential candidate Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% and talk radio and Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity engaged in a testy exchange over the delegate process on Hannity’s radio show on Tuesday.

Hannity began the interview by asking, “I think the number one question on the minds of Republicans right now is what is going on with the delegates. For example, if you can explain to people that your campaign, that you have every right, within the rules, to talk to candidates, that are pledged on a first ballot, to candidate A or candidate C, you being candidate B. And that — tell us what that process is.”

By Jim Swift, March 20, 2016 Weekly Standard

RNC chairman Reince Priebus joined George Stephanopoulos on ABC's This Week to discuss violence at Donald Trump's rallies and this summer's Republican National Convention.

Asked whether the idea of a contested convention was still "an extreme hypothetical," Priebus explained:

Uh -- uh probably not still the case, no. I think it's possible. We're preparing for the possibility. I think it's my job is to be as open and transparent as I possibly can be. Why I'm trying to get out there on the convention a lot, out in the media. Talk about the rules. What they are, what they're not. Take the mystery away from what an open convention looks like. It's simple stuff.

Cruz, Sessions Wants Immigration Details On Terror Suspects

By Jordain Carney, Aug 12, 2015 The Hill

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wants the Obama administration to hand over details on dozens of individuals he says are tied to terrorism, including their immigration status.

Cruz, who is running for president, and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) sent a letter on Wednesday to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Secretary of State John Kerry. They are asking for information on 72 individuals and the "nexus between terrorism and our immigration system."

"We write regarding the alarming increase in the number of individuals in the United States who have engaged in acts of terrorism or conspired to provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations over the last year," the two senators said in the letter.

Watch Ted Cruz’s Epic Rant About How GOP Leadership Keeps Failing Conservatives

By Video Team, July 24, 2015 Daily Signal

On the Senate floor this morning, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, blasted Republican leadership.

“We’ve had a Republican majority in both houses of Congress now for about six months,” said Cruz in a speech. “What has that majority done? First thing we did – in December, we came back and passed a trillion dollar cromnibus plan, filled with pork and corporate welfare.”

“Then this Republican majority voted to fund Obamacare,” he continued, “voted to fund President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty, then leadership rammed through the confirmation of Loretta Lynch as attorney general. Madam President, which of those decisions would be one iota different if Harry Reid were still majority leader? Not a one. Not a one. This senate operates exactly the same.”
