SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - A normal walk back from a convenience store turned into a terrifying trip to the hospital for a young South St. Paul man who told Fox 9 News he and his friend were jumped by a group of 15 to 20 people.
The 17-year-old victim is in rough shape, but Danny Bond will be okay. He and his 19-year-old friend had just walked through a parking lot across the street from the store when their short journey took a surprising and frightening turn for the worse.
"He started shooting," Bond said. "He was standing right there at the trash can."
Bond is lucky to be alive and telling his story about how he ended up in the hospital with a black-and-bloody eye. He would leave with four staples in his head, but he knows it could have been much, much worse.
"They put a gun to my friend's head, and so, I hit the dude with the gun," Bond recalled. "I was trying to get the gun from him, and then I had at least 10 of them jump on top of me."
