Real estate mogul Donald Trump, the leader in most recent polls, will again appear center stage in the debate. He'll be joined on stage by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Paul and Fiorina were invited to participate in a 6 p.m. ET "undercard" debate, although Paul said he would skip the second-tier faceoff.

"An artificial designation as being in the second tier is something we can't accept," he told CNN on Monday. "I won't participate in anything that's not the first tier."

Rand Paul Attributes Trump's Rise To A 'Loss Of Sanity'

By Jesse Byrnes, July 30, 2015 The Hill

Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) is attributing GOP rival Donald Trump's rise in the polls to a momentary "loss of sanity."

"I think this is a temporary sort of loss of sanity, but we're going to come back to our senses and look for someone serious to lead the country at some point," Paul told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer on his show, when asked about a new national poll showing Trump still atop the crowded GOP field.

Paul pointed to the extensive media coverage of the controversial candidate.

"Television works, Wolf," said Paul. "If you would give some other candidates time from 8 in the morning to 8 at night, all day long, every day for three weeks, I'm guessing some other candidates might rise as well."
Paul lamented the lack of any network "going gaga" over his own policy ideas, including a recently unveiled tax plan.

Paul had previously criticized Trump's coverage, saying that he is getting "a billion dollars worth of free advertising."

Trump drew 20 percent support in a Quinnipiac poll released Thursday, ahead of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Jeb Bush, while Paul tied with several candidates for fourth place in the poll, taking 6 percent.

Rand: I Think We Have 58 Votes To Defund Planned Parenthood

By Ian Hanchett, July 22, 2015 Breitbart

Kentucky Senator and Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)93%
said that he thinks there are about 58 senators who will vote to defund Planned Parenthood on Tuesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

Rand said “I’m horrified by these videos and and everybody is. When i think of ultrasound, I think of the pictures of my kids before they were born and the happiness we had. To imagine that doctors are using ultrasound to manipulate the body around, turn the body around to take body parts from a baby, it just — it sickens me. And so, I’ve been fighting to defund Planned Parenthood. I don’t think they should get any taxpayer dollars. And we got good news today, we are going to get a vote on this. The Senate will vote on defunding Planned Parenthood before we leave in August.”

Report: Rand Paul Calls For Scrutiny Of Muslims

By Bill Theobald, July 18, 2015 USA Today

Breitbart News is reporting that GOP presidential candidate Rand Paul told one of its reporters backstage at a speech in Houston last night that the U.S. should provide extra scrutiny of people coming into the country from predominantly Muslim countries after the Chattanooga, Tenn., terrorist attack on Friday.

"I’m very concerned about immigration to this country from countries that have hotbeds of jihadism and hotbeds of this Islamism," Paul told Breitbart. "I think there does need to be heightened scrutiny. Nobody has a right to come to America, so this isn’t something that we can say ‘oh, their rights are being violated.’ It’s a privilege to come to America and we need to thoroughly screen those who are coming."

Rand Paul On Gay Marriage:, Don’t Swallow The Bait

By Stella Morabito, July, 9, 2015, The Federalist

Sen. Rand Paul has walked straight into a bait and switch trap set by big-government proponents like Cass Sunstein. In a recent Time magazine commentary, Paul reacted to the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage by pitching the idea of abolishing state recognition of marriage.

Paul noted that since the ruling may soon lead the state’s police power to intrude into churches and other religious institutions, “perhaps the time has come to examine whether or not governmental recognition of marriage is a good idea for either party.” He suggests that people draw up contracts instead of obtaining state-issued licenses.

Watch your step, Rand! That plan would not at all limit government. It’s central planning in disguise. I know this seems counter-intuitive. After all, libertarians have an old mantra that goes: “Let’s just get the government out of the marriage business!” But that’s an empty slogan. It blindly assumes that government will leave you alone once it no longer has to recognize you and your spouse and potential offspring as bound together as a family unit. These days, nothing can be further from the truth, as I’ll explain below.
